In fact, I have no intention of ever using the 3rd. row - Well, maybe once a year.... The problem with the City is that I am on the "heavier" side and also have a back problem. Getting in and out of the City is not easy. I was looking at the BRV for 3 reasons : (1) The 210 mm ground clearance. (2) Easy ingress and egress and driver's seat height adjustment to further sweeten the deal and (3) More "street cred" with a (sort of) SUV/MPV and the higher seating position helps in traffic.

You can think of 3rd row as boot when folded or even remove it and have bit more space.

All your points are valid about the the "street cred" and it's a very decent option IMO. The GC is one cool part of BRV, no matter how ugly speed breakers you encounter it won't scrape its belly (almost never but on a few expeditions like Chanshal pass I did). The high seating position esp compared to City provides a surer hold of the vehicle esp on highways and during mild off road. Well, speaking of City, you can fully lower down the BRV driving seat and feel the view/ergonomics like of City/sedan :).

2. How is the performance of the CVT on the highway with fast moving traffic (Overtaking) and also on the ghats (climbing ability)? How is the "pulling" power when loaded?
3. What sort of real-life average consumption have you been getting? In the City and on the highways?
7. How are the headlights on dark highways? Will they need an upgrade?
9. How difficult s it to manage in heavy traffic and to park it?
...

2. Average stuff. Don't expect it to be peppy and all. Linear, jerk less speed ramp up is how i would describe the experience on highways but it would get you to 100+ but not a hair raising experience like my TSI. I find BRV's paddle shifter or S mode of great use on inclines and sometimes on highways.
3. Normal spirited driving on highways with/Without A/c (loaded with 4 and luggage) - 14-15kmpl. In city - 10-11 kmpl
7. Nope; the spread of fog lights further helps on country roads or on hills.
9. Managing in heavy traffic is not a problem; it's just another car slightly longer or similar to sedans. parking might take getting used to if you have spend much time in hatchbacks.

there's no such limit. I was intrigued when I read Smartcat's post on it back then. So I stretched her legs to slightly above 150 just to check it out. But then we all know there's hardly any longish tarmac on which we can even safely do 100+, so..!

We wanted a reliable replacement for our 2011 Chevy beat diesel. Nexon XM or Creta Base option were on my list and I was searching for used cars in parallel. One fine day I found this BRV in Olx and quickly arranged a test drive. I went back home with many questions in my mind. Thought deeply about my requirements and finally gave the BRV another look 2 days later. Didn't think further and brought the 2016 BRV iVTEC SMT home. I am quite satisfied with the Performance and ride quality of BRV. The best part is the space offered. Family trips will be now uncompromised and utility on offer is a huge plus. I will post a detailed writeup about my BRV experience after some time.

BRV clocked 46000Kms while I took it home. There were some minor dents so did a touch up for interior and exterior. There aren't any rattles of any sort and car feels new.

Posting some pictures of our baby. clap:

After scaling 12000ft of Chanshal pass late last year, it was time again to logout from the hum-drum of the routine and back to Hills via plains, or so I thought before the better half stomped and crushed this plan of mine as she was done with Hills and endless loops she has to experience. All the persuasion, cajoling and even ‘shopping’ spree stick couldn’t lay the trap.

But I had to go ‘hunt’ (drive) as that’s the exit path of all the boredom. I had recently done a longish bike ride with my son but now with younger kid also looking at me with all her hopes (yes, for a moment I could think an excursion without wifey :p), riding out again wasn’t an option.

So, given that it was winter and a harsh one at that the hunt was imagined with vast expanses of sun light to be soaked in with distances to be covered and back in a week’s time.

What would it be then?-Driving through the yellow mustard fields of Punjab or driving through serene deserted roads of Rajasthan? Both the states neighbor my home in Haryana and are my favorites to visit as often as I can. So, I needed a tie breaker. You know time flies and this chirpy lively relative of mine would have grown up I realized from her naughty years to eighty-seven now to be precise :D. So, let’s plan a trip to include meeting this very dear relative in Rajasthan who hadn’t been paid a visit to since a few years.

Mental mapping of nearby places done over a coffee break at office and a few google map searches later the route, itinerary & hotel booking were closed and done with. The thoughts about just-drive on the open, smooth roads was palpable and oh! just a few days away.. The year was indeed closing on a high.

Side notes: You see, since the time I was smitten by TTDC Kodaikanal (or was it Ooty) food and hospitality, I now almost always go for state tourism accommodation and I rarely have complaints (wife usually has a few but those are beyond me)

And the D(rive)-day arrived and here we were on NH48 towards Ajmer driving through thick fog. The right-side lanes (coming to DL from RJ) were jammed due to long pile up and I guess seeing that vehicles on my side were driving carefully and empathetically (which is unheard of about here).

Starting back from Kota at ~630AM, encountered severe fog all throughout and gave me company for next 3 hrs. A close shave with cow (harder to spot in fog) and locals driving without tail/hazard lights (All in a day’s work) made it tricky but tailing a car ahead and tailed by another with enough gap helped.

Soon the hunt must be done again; the concrete is getting onto me already. And before the mighty Sun unleashes itself in a few months, I must answer the call of warrior land -Punjab; its winter Sun, its delicacies & those strolls through the mustard fields.. Aah! turbulence inside.

I saw this update in our BRV Owners Whatsapp group today Morning. Honda BRV is now removed from the list in the Honda India official website. For many this was an expected move, but I feel this as Honda missing a very good chance with its poor product planning and unreasonably high pricing of the BRV.

Yes, quite sad to see this. It would have been nice if they dropped the Mobilio & continued on with the BR-V, with price correction on the lower side. Currently it had an overlap with the Creta in some trims and that was atrocious. The primary reason why it blew up in the market.

A diesel BR-V at the right price point would have been an ace up the sleeve for Honda, now with the diesel Ertiga missing. It would have had a whole market segment to itself. Alas, wasn't to be.

It's official Honda has pulled the plug on the BR-V in India.

Hi Reinhard,

Could you or someone guide me as to how I can join the Honda BR-V Whatsapp group please?

Thanks & Regards,

Agree. Even the Petrol CVT BRV is a good car, with the 210 MM GC, FE and smoothness of the CVT, ease of driving in narrow urban streets and hill roads , direct steering, good combination of ride and handling. What worked against it were - pricing and lacklustre interiors /lack of segment requisite features.

It appears that both posts were made by SmartCat in 2016... Did Honda unlock the speed limits later or is it still present?

Speed limit is locked. I bought in November 2018. My BRV speed is capped at 140 kmph. I think it is the rev limiter rather than speed limiter, which eventually leads to capping the speed limit. Even though, I am happy as 140 kmph itself is scary for my family and they keeps warning me as soon as I touch 100 kmph. I am also not a keen corner cutting person, rather a person who prefers peace of mind and safe driving lol:

Hello All.

Is used BRV automatic an good option to consider. Found few BRV's online with less than 20k in ODO and 2016 model for about 6.5 lakhs. Considering Honda has discontinued BRV, will spares be any problem. Any other things that I need to be careful of if I am considering automatic BRV. Please advise.

Also, will be good to hear from any BRV automatic owners in the forum please.

Regards.

Honda sells spares for old Civic so I doubt you'll have issues for BRV.

Ouch, that price hurts for us BRV owners lol:. Check if the car has extended warranty/possibility of extending warranty. Apart from the CVT transmission, nothing to worry about. Check on Service history too. Being a yearly service schedule, the owner shouldn't have skimped on that.

Hi All

I have a 2018 V CVT.

Planning to get a HU with Apple Car play & Android Auto - any recommendations?
I have extended warranty till 2023 - Can i get an after-market unit (without wires being cut and hence voiding warranty) or is it prudent to get from Honda dealership?

Thanks in advance

Hi, can you tell me how you have extended the warranty till 2023? I bought the BRV VX limited edition (style edition), manual version in Nov, 2018. My extended warranty is to 2021. Is there an option I can extend the warranty with the Honda dealership? Thanks.
