Re: Skoda Superb : Official Review

Can anyone please confirm if there is a C / USB charging point near rear view mirror to help power dash cam?

Not in the current Superb as far as I know. It is expected in the incoming Octavia though.

It was mentioned on Skoda page:

"As of the 2021 model year, an optional USB-C socket above the rear-view mirror will be available in the ŠKODA SUPERB, KODIAQ, KAROQ, KAMIQ and SCALA"

https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/..._usb_c_mirror/

So was getting hopeful that Superb 2021 in India will also have the feature

Half hearted approach if you ask me. Skoda's elder brother has made it available as an add-on. By providing this feature, Skoda admits that a dashcam is necessary or is widely used by road users. I don't imagine it being difficult for them to design one, even if it meant borrowing the design/hardware from Mercedes.

I beg to differ. It's desirable that manufacturers provide the basic requirement like a well designed USB-C port, and leave it to the specialist dashcam folks to design and manufacture innumerable permutations and combinations of devices.

The minute car manufacturers get into non-allied areas the prices get hiked unreasonably. See the obscenely priced Mercedes cam or the BMW Advanced Eye one for 50K. I'm unsure how the Merc cam is, but the BMW cam (even though dual cam and plug and play), is not very popular given the average specs: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modif...h-vandals.html (BMW Advanced Car Eye 2.0! Radar-based in-car surveillance system to catch vandals)

In fact in the UK, Skoda has a tie up for Kenwood dashcams with Skoda dealer fitting. Even has a Skoda part number: https://kenwood-electronics.co.uk/ca...skoda/DRV-410/

I agree, it does not hurt for car manufacturers to have "platform provider" mentality.

What pains me is the discrimination between international and Indian specs even for minor things such as providing USB port. I am sure there are no regulatory hurdles to provide one neither it will contribute to substantial price increase (its already 34.99L!!!!!).

Few reasons why I want an OEM to provide this facility.

1. Cost doesn't matter. INR 50k for a dashcam is not an issue for someone that's spending INR 40 lakhs; provided, it's all neatly done and tucked away. Skoda can integrate this into the infotainment system.
2. I'm not very sure of this one, but, I do recall my sales rep saying that dashcam will come in the way of the Skoda's assist stuff (Lane change etc) because the camera is right behind the rear view camera.
3. Warranty issues arising from 3rd party fitments

Re: Skoda Superb : Official Review

Most states are in lockdown and several cities would have it extended further. I was wondering if any of you have any information if the scheduled service dates have been extended like last year. I asked Mr. Hollis on the Facebook owners page last week to which he said they would come up with an information last week itself, but upon asking him again this week, there has been no response. The ASS in NCR is clueless. They say they have no information.

Little OT : After hearing and reading of HDFC Ergo horror stories, I have decided to renew my insurance from United India. I am taking it from ASS as they are matching online rates (this is Arya Skoda: Brite Skoda Noida messed up miserably : their quotes are at least 40% higher than reasonable rates and a very arrogant insurance manager.) Down South or elsewhere, guys, did your car come with United India Insurance by default? ASS is saying UIIC is pan India cashless in Skoda garages.

Did you mean rear doors ? Front doors in the L&K variant come equipped with this. Here's the link to the site

I meant front doors. Actually i saw some reviews and they did not mention about the umbrellas, so i thought Skoda might have removed them.

I would highly recommend to check it with the dealership, as car companies are not savvy enough to keep their webpages up to date.

The very site still says that the L&K spec comes with the analog dials and the LED reflector head lamps.

With the recent MY2021 kit upgrade and the very habit of VAG firms to delete kit at a moment's notice, a double check with the dealership would do no harm.

Re: Skoda Superb : Official Review

Hey there!

So it’s been like 2 months since I have been driving the superb. The only thing I keep wanting for more is the sound system. I know it’s this fancy canton sound system, but however I tune it using the equaliser, it doesn’t bring peace!

Any of you guys out there face similar issue? If no, can you share your eq setting? Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you!

Re: Skoda Superb : Official Review

On a related note on the Audio Quality, am wondering if any Sportline owners have considered adding the same Sub-Woofer that comes in the LnK model in your car? Not sure if the Service Center would do such an addition - but clearly not exploring adding something from outside due to warranty issues. Any thoughts or suggestions?
