Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

Photos may take time as the SUV is away for a few days. It has an instantaneous FE bar as well a FE graph, this is what we could gather from the short stint we drove it yesterday. As per my friend, these are new additions and were not there earlier.

Today morning while the truck was being driven for a short trip the driver noticed white smoke emanating from the exhaust and immediately brought it back home. I was told that In the 2 minutes while the car was parked within my home the entire place was filled with white smoke to the point of no visibility.

The driver immediately called the local ford dealer/SA and was told that there has been similar instances of this happening and the SA asked us to contact Ford helpline/toll free wherein the car will be towed and "an" assembly will be replaced by Ford at no extra cost. Tow has been scheduled for tomorrow.

Since I have just returned home I couldn't discuss this and neither do I want to crank the engine to observe the smoke myself risking any further damage.

It's surprising that the SA has informed that this is a known issue. Has anyone faced this issue?
My vehicle is stuck at the service center since Tuesday/ 12 Dec 2017, with delay after delay in promised delivery date. The attitude of this service team feels worrisome since (apart from the initial call) there has been absolutely no callbacks / status updates from either the service advisor or the manager. I have been repeatedly made to call them multiple times with no response. In the event that the manager picks up there is a standard reply that he will check and reply within 5 minutes but to no avail.

So far, after delay in receiving the replacement part from Ford India they say that the white smoke issue is still not resolved and they require "some more time" to diagnose the correct problem. How come they re-diagnose the issue now after initially confirming it to be a known issue?

And since the problem is not yet diagnosed how come the service manager assure (again) me of delivery back tomorrow??

Just sent an email to custmail@ford.com detailing my issue. Will wait until tomorrow before deciding anything further. I have been without the vehicle for close to a week!

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Instantaneous FE bar and FE graph have been around since the launch of the vehicle. Perhaps he had not noticed them earlier.

Unless your friend's vehicle has Sync3 and they had not included this feature when they moved from Sync2 to Sync3. Mine is almost 2 years old and came with Sync2.

Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

Hello everyone. Prospective Endy buyer here. Has anyone purchased and installed 20 inch after market rims? If yes, what tyres did you choose and why?

I plan to get 265/50R20 tyres with 20"rims (9 width and ET20). Please share any feedback on how the Endy drives and handles with 20" rims. Thank you.

I don't have an experience with 20inchers but sounds like an overkill in Endeavour. You can upgrade to better brand but Endeavour rides quite well on stock size. Unless you hate the stock alloy design, I don't see a need to upgrade to 20inchers!
P.S: 20inch means you will have to lower the tire profile=bad ride quality.

The 3.2 Ford Everest sold in Australia comes with 265/50R20 tyres and 20 inch rims. I want to get them only for aesthetic purposes but I also want to make sure they ride and handling does not get affected by much. I'm a bit unsure on how lowering the profile affects city driving. I barely hit the highways. The last time I went out of town was maybe 3-4 years ago.

Attached is the diameter difference calculation. The difference is 0.25% negative. Also screenshot from the brochure of Ford Everest in Australia showing the stock rims.

Can't we keep the side profile intact with 20inchers? I think Endeavour has enough room to accommodate bigger tires but this need to be tried and tested. Should not result in tweaking of bumpers or any other panel. I have experienced such issues in my other possession where some part of bumper and mud guard flap was sliced away to incorporate the bigger wheels.

Thicker the side wall- the better cushioning and hence better ride. Endeavour is a tall SUV and not corner craver-lower profile wont help much in terms of handling. On good road city/highway you wont probably see any perceivable difference but on slightest of the bad patch the 18'ers will shine.
From aesthetics ,I agree 20'ers might looks better, personally for me a body on frame SUV looks good with taller side wall tires than low-pro's.

You can and Endeavour appears to have enough space to accommodate. However maintaining same diameter means, the overall diameter difference/variance would be way over 3%. This will cause a lot of speedo/odo errors and generally not recommended.

Mods: Can you please merge this post with my earlier post?

Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

I would not recommend upgrading to 20 inchers - stick to the current specs, but definitely change the tyres, and if you dont like them a lot, the alloys.

Someone paying so much for a SUV this size shouldn't have to struggle for comfort over bad patches - a low profile looks cool on sedans but this one is a full sized heavy beast - higher chances of damage with low profiles (given that you cannot always be driving on smooth tarmac). Besides, you significantly reduce the capabilities of the car when its off-road.

Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

Today I visited the Ellie Ford service centre and got the PCM updated, also updated audio control module (ACM) and the transmission control module (TCM). Pradeep is the technician there, very good service experience with the new service manger Jay Kumar as well.
I could see a good difference in gear shifts right away. Absolutely no lag at all.

Just as an fyi. Got tire rotation and alignment done at venketeshwara alignment zone near hoodi circle in Whitefield.
They have the right software for endevour wheel alignment.

Thanks for the information. To summarize it we have to update 3 modules.

ACM - Audio Control Module
PCM - Power train Control Module
TCM - Transmission Control Module

Is there any way we can check these before updating. I was able to check ACM in Sync 3 settings. Not sure where I can check the other two. I assume PCM and TCM can only be checked on laptop. Am I right?

Attaching my version on Sync 3:

Don't know how to check the version, unless connected to Ford system. My vehicle is from the first batch, Feb/mar 2016.

Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

I have clocked 20,000 kms in one year in my 3.2 endeavour without any issues.
My only concern is the bumpy ride,I am running 30 psi all round, still feel the thuds and bumps in the middle seat.Any fix for this?

And I am amazed at how pliant the ride is. Don't feel a thing. I am sure with better rubber, the ride will further improve.

I agree, same here. I have been driving endevour 3.2 for about 2 years now, love the ride and the light steering (feels like driving a sedan).
