Yes, it is MMI.

I wanted to confirm with Ford if they object to K&N under warranty. |
One of the main reasons K&Ns enable greater air flow to the engine is because they claim to be thinner filters with the same/better quality of air filtering as the OE filters.
I had installed a K&N on my PS and promptly removed it because it made the engine sound noisier and the FE had dropped by around 10%.
Coming to the warranty, I feel that Ford will void it "officially" but one always has the option of removing the filter before taking the car to service.
If they accept the filters without voiding warranty, nothing like it.

Updating here instead of a PM so others can benefit if interested.
So I too have been using K&N in all my cars for long and hence have been following up with K&N's India distributor Methods Automotive. Last week Methods informed that 33-2271 has been released for New Endeavour. Apparently, it is also used in some Kia models in US.
As far as the thickness goes, it is always a lot thinner (less depth) than the OEM paper filters. Case in point, my Civic K&N filter is almost three fourths of an inch thinner than the original one. As also the Lancer and i10 filters by varying depths. So that should not be a cause for worry.
I wanted to confirm with Ford if they object to K&N under warranty. Pinged the Regional Service Manager for south. He has promised to check and get back. Will update you all. |
Thanks Naresh for the update.
Update me when you get an update about warranty, I will check with local guys whom I will be meeting on Friday this week for horn issues. (Within a year the OE horns are started misfunctioning- often making strange noise).
Did you get any pricing idea for the filter? Also, does the K&N filter already been used for any other models in the US? (Or in Ranger in oz?)
Thanks

1. Yet to hear on the warranty.
2. The part is priced at Rs. 6990.00
3. Ranger in US uses a different version of K&N - as the OEM filter is the round cylindrical shaped one. Ranger and Everest intake shapes are different and so are the filter shapes. Everest users in Asia are using 33-2271 as the OEM filter is a flat one. I also checked some Asian online stores

Hello,
I have ordered Philips H8 12360 Crystal Vision from Amazon for replacing Fog lamps.
Osram NightBreaker Unlimited HB3 9005 for High beam went out of stock. When I checked them few days back they were available on Amazon and were around 5800. Any idea where I can find them in Delhi NCR?

This is available normally in any Auto parts and Auto mod stores. Not a difficult part to get. Also the Amazon price was for some reason way off - this is proced at around 2500 INR. Not sure why the price on Amazon was so high. Try locally and you will get it.

These are correct but I suggest buy these locally as you will get warranty.
Ali is good for LEDs as they are not available locally and seldom fail.
Does anyone know how to play videos in Sync 3. I tried connecting my android phone via usb and bluetooth but unable to play videos. Do I need to follow some different process?

Congrats on the car first of all. Great choice of car and colour as well. :)
It should be possible through screen mirroring, shouldn't it? Connect your phone through a USB cable or even better, connect a pen drive and then check whether the list of videos on it is displayed. If no videos are displayed, then I am afraid sync 3 doesn't support videos directly.
I think this is only possible through youtube by means of android auto or apple carplay, but you can try. Again, I don't know whether the Endy supports this feature. Couldn't find any youtube videos or pointers on the official Ford website as well.

Thanks vishy.
I tried above mentioned workaround but it didn't worked. I am not able to play videos by any method. Basically if I try to play a video file it is being played in music player as an audio file.

Screen Mirroring, if it uses the MirrorLink standard isn't supported on an Android or an Apple phone.

YouTube is not supported on Android Auto. In fact, there's no video app compatible with Android Auto yet. A list of compatible apps is available on the Google Play site. I'm not sure about video support on Apple CarPlay though.
I would be surprised if there was a way to get video on the dashboard screen. I think OEMs and Apple/Google would not allow it for safety reasons. Though there might be a way to hack the systems and find a work around I wouldn't advise it!
Hi guys!
While on Sync 3, wonder if any of you read the news a couple of days back - Ford have signed up with a number of new apps that include Navigation from MMI
http://www.drivespark.com/four-wheel...ia-022202.html Most of these would be functional by mid-June. That's quite exciting and sort of scotches fears about Fords' intentions in the market.
However, I need to ask - has anyone here had any luck with the existing apps that are compatible with Sync 3 (I believe Glympse is the only one in India so far, at least on Apple Car Play). Could you please help guide me through the set up? I can't seem to get even Glympse to work between my iPhone and Sync 3 at the moment.
Cheers!

Quick answer- Apple CarPlay is absolute crap in India.
Long answer- apart from the default Apple apps, I have not yet found anything that works in India. This is due to Apple setup and not due to Sync3. Spotify can work through a work-around (vpn install), Glympse does not seem to work at all. I have it in my iPhone, but it is not CarPlay ready in India, so does not show up on the car screen. To make matters worse, Glympse uses Apple map which is no good for India. Absolutely useless India map.
So I bought a Moto G5 Android, only for Endeavour use. Full time connected. Very happy now. Gaana, Spotify (vpn install), google maps, etc are just really good. Also I believe Google voice assistant is better than Siri. On long drives, I can just tell Google to find me some restaurants and bingo, it is right on the screen with phone # and rating.
My suggestion is, don't struggle with Apple with Sync3. You get far better experience with Android. Catch is, not all Android phones are good in Android Auto. The OEM ones like Nexus, MOTO etc seem good.
