re: Mahindra XUV500 Diesel Automatic : Official Review

1 month and 6000kms over a combination of highways and bumper to bumper traffic with AC on 80% of the time I get 14 kmpl easy. But i am sure a better driver can push it up to 15 kmpl. Anything more than that would surprise me.
Its the W10 manual that I have

Automatic not too great. Always on AC 1600kms in Gives me about 9-10 in mixed usage. 500-600 kms/60lts. Completed 3 tanks and ench tank had at least 100-150 kms on the highways. Hoping it increases after the first service

It will surely increase after the first checkup service, And would be the best after you cross the 5000 kms mark.

Dear Ehsank78,

If I remember right - the company claims (ARIA figures) 16 kmpl for manual and 13.68 for the automatic.

Ahmedabad dealer is giving ready delivery of W10 FWD AT. I'm unable to decide whether the prices would move upwards after the budget or not.

If the price increase is due to indirect taxes, I think not. If he has promised ready delivery, then it means that the vehicle has left the plant. This means that it should already be invoiced/ duty paid.

This is as per my understanding of our tax laws.

Its too early for me to comment on mileage, although with 200 KMs clocked, my Beast (W10-AWD-AT) is giving me 10km/ltrs. Its been driven 95% on highways with 100% AC.
This should improve as I keep munching more miles, but I am not expecting anything more than 12KM/ltrs.

Is it the displayed efficiency or the calculated ?

Coz my car shows 10, yet I get 9.

Its the displayed efficiency. Have yet not been able to calculate the actual efficiency; but to be frank, after spending 20+Lacs on my Beast, I am not too worried about it anyways.

As of now, I am simply enjoying driving it

Do we have an XUV 500 AT Ownership report on the forum? I am contemplating upgrading my Scorpio Automatic for a W10 AT, any comments form the existing owners welcome.

Need BHPians like you who own such vehicles (of limited reviews) to post their review.

While BHPians who have bought XUV AT will write their review, you can also write review for your Scorpio AT (which is very hardly seen in the forum).

In the process of writing one . This being my first ownership report, I am taking my time to get things right. If you have specific things you want to know, I could help you out to the beat of my abilities!

Cheers!

re: Mahindra XUV500 Diesel Automatic : Official Review

Hi BHPians,

Need your responses on my 2 questions/clarifications-
1. With manual transmission of my Polo, I had an habit of up-shifting earlier maybe around 1800-2000 RPM. Now while driving my automatic Beast, due to my earlier habit I tend to lift pedal around 2000 RPM and than accelerate again. While doing so, at many occasions, I feel my Beast understands its time to up-shift and responds. I am not sure if its a true nature of an auto box to up-shift irrespective of my lifting pedal around 2000 RPM and all I have is an illusion, or is it that all auto box does understand the way we drive and up-shifts on inputs like lifting pedal slightly while accelerating.

2. While driving around the speed of 40-50km/hr with my Beast's memory for cruz control set around 80km/hr; if I press resume option, I get a push of power as my Beast tries to achieve 80km/hr. While I feel the power and pull of the my Beast, when I keep a tap at the RPM levels during this acceleration, to my surprise it appears to hover around 1500 RPMs. I am not sure how this is kind of pull and power is achieved by my Beast at lower RPMs as the same is impossible for me to achieve while maintaining these RPMs for a quick acceleration from 40km/hrs to 80km/hrs.

You might find me naive, but please excuse my limited experience and understanding of an auto box. I have posted these questions to build my knowledge for better understanding and upkeep of my Beast. She is still tuning herself to my driving style and I want to be sure that I know what she likes and what she won't especially during this run-in period.
