To all who are looking to get Hand-rest fitted, do you have an option to fit Handrest from CIAZ in Baleno?

It looks similar to Baleno, but should be lot more usable in terms of resting hand. ( Space inside is similar to Baleno ).

Hi Satish,

Could you please post a picture of the installed accessory.
Even I'm thinking of getting one for my 'yet-to-arrive' Delta CVT.

If it is as short as the ones in Zeta and Alpha, I may give it a skip.

Re: Maruti Baleno : Official Review

Anyone has any idea on what is the actual purpose of the RFID tag given in the baleno? I guess it is used for doing cash less transactions at the toll booths, but how exactly can we recharge it or load money in it?

As far as I know, the RFID tag on Baleno is has car information like VIN no, chassis no and key no. For information on cashless transactions on tollbooths, you can refer to this thread:

And for activating and using FASTtag, ICICI bank website here:

Re: Maruti Baleno : Official Review

Perhaps this is a repeat of a post , but i have been extensively looking for information on how to decode a Baleno's VIN, the closest that i have come to finding anything satisfactory is apparently the fact that for NEXA cars, the VIN is actually only 17 characters long, thereby the 18th and 19th character which normally give the month and year of manufacture for regular dealership Maruti models are missing for NEXA.

Even the pic of the VIN of the official review vehicle of BHP in the first page indicates the same (Attached).

A website that i came through yesterday, which was equally confusing, said that its the 10th character which give the year, however no information about the month of production can be obtained from the VIN of a Baleno.
I'am in the process of taking delivery of my Baleno Petro Alpha soon, and its the end of the year, i would really want to be sure that my car was not manufactured 11 months ago!!
I would really appreciate it if existing owners can shed any knowledge about how to go about getting information of the month of manufacture from the VIN that is stamped in the Engine Bay.

Many thanks!

The better way of decoding the VIN in Baleno is from the stencil near driver door (body side and not in the actual openable door). The digits are spaced out from 1 to 9, 10,11 and 12 to 17 over there. Makes it easier to understand.

Sorry, I'm replying from the app and cannot attach an image from my car. But, the digits 10=year and 11=month. In the image you have attached, that's FH, i.e. 2015 August.

Re: Maruti Baleno : Official Review

Guys just came back from a 370Km trip.
Car was loaded with 5 guys and lot of luggage, and it is here that I felt suspension behave really well.

The inherent bumpiness was gone and car handled well in Ghats.
I think suspension will eventually get softer as time goes.
My car now stands at 5600kms after 5 months of ownership.

When the car gets fully loaded the stiffness of the suspension reduces and the ride height also gets lowered, because of which the handling becomes better around corners.
When going solo the stiff suspension shows its truer nature and it's then advisable to fill the air slightly less than the manufacturer's rating to get a more supple ride.

PS: This is purely generic in nature even though I have driven the Baleno.

Re: Maruti Baleno : Official Review

Looks like waiting period for the Baleno is getting reduced day by day. I just got an SMS from Bimal-Nexa. I booked the car on 06/November/2016; it was 27 weeks and now 24 weeks.

May be due to the demonitisation?

Re: Maruti Baleno : Official Review

Maruti really hit the bull's eye with the Baleno, eh? A year since its launch, yet the Baleno remains the 'most searched for' car on India's best car website. More than newer launches, and more than even its sibling - the Vitara Brezza.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Hexa isn't even in the top 20.

We have seen that manufacturers usually stop promoting the product much when there are huge bookings. But, Maruti has not followed this with Baleno. Maruti is promoting aggressively on social media. Baleno wicked weekends and Baleno advertisements have worked wonders for Maruti Suzuki and clearly reflected by your post .

Creta and Vitara Brezza conspicuous by absence!
I hope sales of Baleno would remain high inspite of small price hikes both in past and future. Baleno surely being acclaimed a VFM. Besides, price range of Baleno also seem comfortable with large volume of Indian middle class buyers. A graphical representation would be interesting!

How much did it cost for acoustic dampening and body stiffeners?
What is the purpose of stiffening the body, in what ways it helps?

Re: Maruti Baleno : Official Review

Dear BHPians,

I am looking for yet another Hatchback to be primarily driven in city & I had considered cars from Kwid to Aspire/Ameo (They are Compact Sedans though).

Now, I am thinking of Baleno Petrol Manual.

Why Not Automatic ? Well simply because of Budget Constraints. The CVT version is a good 1.8 lakhs more then Manual. I am ok with the manual.

So, I want to know what kind of FE one is getting in city drives ?

I am yet to test drive the Baleno, will be doing so on Friday/Saturday. I hope this car impresses me.
