Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Some good news for those who booked the Kwid and are waiting or did not/could not book due to long waiting periods.

As per an IAB report, Renault is increasing the production to keep the waiting period under 6 months.

Quote:
Renault India has received over 50,000 bookings for the Renault Kwid. This amount of orders is unprecedented by the brand, and has caused the company to increase the model’s monthly production target.

Sumit Sawhney, Renault India Operations country CEO and managing director, has confirmed that the company is increasing the production of the Renault Kwid and told Times of India, “We have ramped up the production and are taking concerted efforts to further accelerate production to enable faster deliveries.”
Good move by Renault. But IMHO even 6 months is too much for an entry level car (and most other cars) and will still turn away buyers. They should focus on getting it to maybe 2 months max.

Source: IAB

Edit: Was just reading the posts on mileage. 9kmpl is shocking number and I don't think can be true. I assume most of the initial buyers will be first time buyers and hence may not be too familiar with the tankful-to tankful method. Even then they should not be too far off whatever the method used. I mean I don't see a 15/16 kmpl miscalculated as a 9. Need to wait and see.

Or does the engine need some real running in before it returns good efficiency?

Did Renault ever display the KWID with all the accessories installed? I'm curious to see some photos of the fully pimped out model.

I happened to see a red kwid with chrome door handle assembly and chrome window guards. The car while looking fine otherwise looked extremely gaudy with chrome overbling.

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

After lots of positive vibes about the Kwid, I checked the car out a few days back. It looks great for a sub 4 lakh rupee car with some unique street presence. I did not take a test drive but the interiors feel pretty cheap. If anyone's having a comparison with the Eon, it comes no where close in terms of quality. The Eon feels so much upmarket and solid right from the door pads to each buttons used inside. And the build also felt tinny. I maybe one of the rare ones who wasn't so impressed with the Kwid. But the exteriors look so tempting!

Cheers!

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Anyone have any word on whether deliveries have started in the Gurgaon dealerships for the people who booked as soon as bookings were open?

South American-spec Renault Kwid patent images leak

Quote:
The Kwid will reportedly replace the current Renault Clio Mio in the Brazilian market.

The only notable differences are a body-colored rear bumper and door handles, lack of side rub-guards, and chrome foglamp enclosures.

To pass the grueling Latin NCAP tests, the Brazilian-spec Renault Kwid’s chassis could be slightly modified for better strength and rigidity. It could also be fitted with ABS as standard.

Unlike the Indian-spec Kwid, it will, reportedly, pack a bigger 1.0-liter 12 valve three cylinder engine producing 77 hp and capable of running on both petrol and ethanol.

We can guess easily that this engine will make way to our Kwid as the demand-supply become steady. Right now, they need to focus on increasing the output in order to cater to the current bookings and the future demand.

Body coloured bumpers, and lack of black coloured pseudo plastic cladding on the doors, actually give a neutral clothing to the car, and may appeal to a larger set of audience.

About the NCAP tests - what can we say? Until the rules are in place, our manufacturers want to make good use of the missing essential laws.

My office is close to the dealership and noticed a significant number of Kwids being delivered a couple of days before Diwali. Was told that delivery is against initial bookings. Curiously, did not see any trim that day other than top end RXT.

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Thanks for the info! That's some good news as I've booked the top end variant with the airbag. Just out of curiosity, which dealership is this?

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Saw one Kwid on road. Looks cuter but much smaller than I expected while seeing the pics. The micro-SUV feel is only in pics.

On Sohna Road. By the way, today noted a few more Kwids being delivered there and this time the mix had RXL too.

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Saw the Kwid in flesh on the Highway and in the City. Sharing the pictures :

Good Road presence on the Highway :

The person driving the Kwid was having a leisurely cruising time on the NH-2 Highway and his expressions said that he was loving the drive.

See the Kwid alongwith the Honda City beside it :

The Ground Clearance is really the stand out !!

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

I have the KWID RxT(O) Red. My ODO clocks at 650kms now. I get around 16.5 kmpl inside Chennai city. In Highway I get around 21.5kmpl. Overall I get around 19-20kmpl. So far no issues. Like the ride quality. Especially with Current Chennai rains & floods, 180mm GC really helped a lot. Not a single problem as such. Just thought will add my view. If you all need anything specific let me know.
