Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I'm facing a pretty random issue on my prefacelift 2017 S-Cross 1.3 Alpha. The screen in the instrument cluster turns red and a image of the car appears on the MID Screen. This appears for a very short time, and I have not been able to capture a picture of the same. Another warning that appears pretty commonly is the Warning Pre Heat System, which is orange in color. I know that this is related to the glow plugs, but not sure what the other red error can be.

Any ideas of what the red error can be?

The car is completely unmodified and has been serviced pretty regularly, and there have been no issues driving it as such.

Handbrake Warning: The reason I am 100% aware of is the handbrake being engaged while the car is moving. This gives the RED warning in the MID.
Another possibility is that one of the doors, boot, or bonnet isn’t closed. Check all of those. A malfunctioning closing switch in the handbrake/door/boot/bonnet could also be the reason for the RED warning.

As you rightly said, the 'Pre Heat Warning' is a faulty glow plug issue. Change the glow plug(s) and reset the error. If it still doesn't go, check the glow plug module as well. Check that the electrical connections, especially around the glow plugs, are clean and free from corrosion. Even minor electrical issues can cause these warnings (rare).

Thanks for the reply.
I'm certain that its not the doors being ajar or the handbrake applied, could it just be the sensor malfunctioning?

Can't seem to think of any other reason. Faulty sensors, rat bite on wires, anything. It would be helpful if you can see the warning message and try to click a picture. It should ideally tell you what the error is for.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I have a 2018 S-Cross, 1.3L Diesel Zeta variant. Its a D13 Engine, if that helps.

I have disc brakes all around the MGP store cannot locate the part number in the manual for the rear disc brakes,
I want to order brake pads for the rear- the lady came out to see if i really had rear discs.

A search here found a few replies without specifying 1.6 or 1.3, in others the links were for front brake pads and on and on.

Can someone help me with the alternate rear brake pads, the originals are still around the 6500 mark.

Baleno RS / SX4 / S-cross share the same brake pads. Get the one for Baleno RS - it's a direct fit! Price approx. INR 2,000. (Part No 55910M68P01)

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Hello fellow BHP-ians and S-Cross owners! While I've not been very active here on the forum I've frequented this thread far more than any other, so far. The S-Cross was a surprise package when it came out and still remains one of the best to come from the Maruti stable in 2025. I owned a 1.3 Zeta since it launched in 2015 till the ticking time bomb of NGT could allow me to, letting go of her in February 2025. Here's the first proper picture of her from Sept 2015:

Maruti S-Cross : Official Review-20150918_133515_hdr.jpg

Being my daily drive car in Delhi/NCR it was the perfect blend of size, comfort & performance. Neither did we need an upgrade nor did the car leave me wanting for more in terms of tech or gimmicky features in the 9+ years of ownership. Can't believe it's almost been a decade since we got her home. I practically grew from a 23YO boy to a 32YO man going through the good and the bad, working and travelling primarily in the S-Cross so much so that for a few years it even acted as my moving office space to work from! Over the years took her to a handful of road trips too with family, friends and sometimes solo as well.

I drove her for about 110k kms and I'm happy to report the car never broke down or threw any tantrums. Would have loved to happily continue driving it had the Govt, emission norms and regulations for diesel cars not become unfavourable. It took me a very long time to find a replacement in MG Windsor EV for the S-Cross and while I eventually did move on from the diesel I'm not entirely sure yet if it's an upgrade. More on the new car some other day in another thread. I'll end this memoir of a post with some parting shots from the day the S-Cross was sold to Cars24.

It is indeed such a well rounded car that it is very difficult to find a replacement under 20L that fits the bill perfectly ! Hope the new car satisfies you as much as the old horse did

Man this hits close to home. I just crossed 50,000km on my 2017 SCross Zeta. But I'm in Mumbai and the looming threat of older diesels not being allowed to be driven here is making me nervous. I have no plans of selling it. I've driven that car almost every day since I got it and I absolutely love it. It's taken me across India and not once have I felt that the car lacks power or space. It doesn't even feel outdated in terms of features even after so many years. I totally get how you must be feeling right now.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I echo your sentiments.

S-Cross indeed is the best from Maruti's stable. I would dare say there is still no match for it despite being 10 Year old.

I own S-Cross 1.6 Alpha (bought in 2016) in Mumbai. Still running as new with 90K on odo. Handling, steering feedback & sorted road manners is the best even compared to Taigun 1.5 which I bought recently to replace Brio.

I wish to continue it till similar norms come in force here. It is hard to let go such a gem for this reason though.
