Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Recently got my 5 yr old SCross 1.3 remapped from Wolf. Got their stage 1+ low end map and the car has totally changed character. City driving g has become so much better. The car now holds the rpm till 2k in the second gear before needing an up shift. Similarly, the already tall 3rd gear has more grunt down the torque range thereby making gearshifts in city traffic less frequent.
A special shout-out to Joe, who patiently explained the various maps and guided me through the process, and to Sumit, who did the remap on a day that saw Mumbai getting drenched to scary levels.

How much did it cost? And where did you get it remapped?

INR30k. Remap from Wolf. Once they have enough bookings, they send a technician to your (closest) city.

I am considering the Yoko Earth-1's as a possible replacement for the old, stock UX Royales. Conti UC6 seems to be what folks are getting across car brands, but the side-walls seem relatively softer, and I would like something that can take the occasional rural road.

Btw, have used Earth-1's long back on my Ikon.

What say ?

Earth 1s turn hard and are noisy. But they grip very well even at the end of their life. And because of hard sidewalls, the sidewall flex is less around corners. Three of us friends had this tyre on our different cars and the experience were the same.

Given my past experience with Yoko Earth1s and a Continental(but different model), I will stick with Contis.

Would depend on what you’re looking for. Recent posts about Bridgestone Turanza T001 have been positive. Slight upsize could give MRF Perfinza or Conti CrossContact AX6.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I got my car tires replaced at 1 lakh km and switched to Continental UC6. Have been getting them balanced and aligned every 10k kms but the rear tires (crossed from front around 15k kms ago) have worn out completely. The car has done only 35k kms since the replacement.

What could be the reason? The person says its due to wrong alignment.

Also he is recommending changing the 2 tires now and is again recommending UC6 for Rs. 8500 a piece.

What could be the reason of this wear and should I go with UC6 again?

I dont know if S-Cross has rear wheel alignment as part of the alignment process. If it has, then has your alignment centre taken care of this ? If they havent, then this is a valid possibility. Next would be the rear suspensions.

If your tyres have done 35k already, then you can think of replacing all 4 with a different brand. This would work out twice as expensive as replacing only the rear tyres. And you would have a full set of fresh tyres. Else you will be with two new tyres and two tyres that have done 35k. You will then continue with two newer and two older tyres pretty much till you have the car.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Hello all,

I have an S-Cross 2021 Petrol Model and have been quite satisfied with ownership experience till now. My friend who owned a Vitara Brezza brought around same time , unfortunately had a severe accident which I mentioned in below post where the car got totaled but airbags didn't open:

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/road-...ml#post5817899 (Accidents in India | Pics & Videos)

Although we are aware about limitations of sensor positionings/calibration, we are on fact-finding mission that issue wasn't because of faulty airbags. There was a post on this in our forum as well:

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...0this%20recall (Maruti Suzuki recalls 17,362 cars due to faulty airbags).

Also, it got me thinking about the airbags in our S-Cross. I checked the pretensioner badge and looks its from Ashimori brand. On checking about recall history of this brand I found a few :

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...8V426-9049.pdf
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/202...667.PDF(Recent Recall)

My question to other experienced owners specially those with earlier batches of S-Cross
is that whether the same brand of airbag/pretensioner unit was provided in their cars as well?

As far I know, UV cut glasses only started with 2022 XL6 facelift. S-Cross facelift happened way back in 2017

Baleno has had it since its late 2015 launch, but I don't think it came with the S-Cross or even its facelift model.
