Whether Maruti Suzuki will add any new engines to the powertrain list is yet to be seen, but for now, we know that the S-Cross will continue to use the 1.3 litre DDIS 4-cylinder diesel unit. The company has already discontinued the 1.6 litre DDIS motor, so there is a chance that the S-Cross facelift might not get any other engine options, at least initially. Although, an AMT version might find its way in the new S-Cross facelift.
Does any one know of the DDiS 320 getting discontinued? If yes, it is very bad news for the enthusiasts. It seems very unlikely to me though. It might not have sold big numbers for MSIL but whoever have bought it have had tears of joy in their eyes.

S-Cross 1.6 DDIS : Quantum UK Remap!!

My friend, Warun from Hyderabad has got Quantum UK remap for his S-Cross 1.6 from GT Tunerz. They were able to do a successful remap. The car doesn't have any error codes and EGR is also fully off. Warun says there is improvement all over the revv band and it's a different animal now.

I am running with TOT remap and as mentioned on my thread, their support was not good and couldn't delete EGR / provide me tweaked map and blamed lack of protocol for the same. But, the fact is Alientech had released the working protocol way back in November 2016. Quantum UK has used the same protocol, also they are equipped with latest EDC17 specific adapters. I would be also getting the Quantum tune soon

So does he notice a reduced lag in lower RPMs or gears? What are the torque and power ratings now with the new map? Also what about fuel efficiency? (sorry, being in india, this is a standard question to ask)

Quantum UK says the map will do approx 150 HP / 390 NM at crank. Also, they were able to successfully delete EGR, while Tune O Tronics couldn't do the same. Warun says that the low end has improved, but the turbo lag is still present. The mid and top end has huge difference compared to stock. He has not noticed any drop or gain in FE as of now.

I am planning to do TOT vs Code 6 vs Quantum UK comparo test of 1.6 S-Cross sometime next month. Working on it

What are the charges of the quantum uk remap?

Do they also provide lifetime support as majority of indian tuners promise to do?

The remap for 1.6 S-Cross costs 26,000 Rs. EGR delete / top speed limiter removal are included. The remap pricing differs from car to car. Yes, they too provide lifetime support and it's one time payment. They even have 30 day unconditional money back guarantee.

Does re-mapping void the warranty? I am new to this and hence the question.

If known, surely it does void warranty!

If the remap is detected, Manufacturers have the full right to void engine warranty.

Most of the tuners say remap cannot be detected / warranty won't be void etc. That's a pure lie. But, no service centre guys look for remap or have the expertise to look for it.

If they want to detect, it's not at all difficult. They have to do a WOT run and log injected quantity, turbo boost, rail pressure etc and remap can be detected for sure.

Yes it does. Any modification in any form to OE equipment would void warranty. It depends on the dealer / manufacturer on how 'strict' they are implementing the clauses for warranty.

If your car is given for regular service, it may or may not be detected by the SA. Issue arises if and when you are trying to claim warranty on any engine related problem where the manufacturer would check thoroughly before passing the claim.

Here if found, they'll cancel the claim.

In fact, when such an issue comes up, the first thing they'd check is looking for any possible alterations in the engine management / control system. FIAT, for example, maintains a special report section for any Multijet engine issues as they are very keen on feedback. I was told this by a SA in Fiat ASS who is a TBHPian but not active anymore as he left India for higher studies.

The warranty cover will be void for the entire power train, and not limited to engine.

Not just engine warranty, but many more like power train components . They can deny warranty for any component where additional 'load' is subjected. I remember reading about an incident where a manufacturer in US denied warranty of alternator saying the increase in engine rpm has caused the alternator to work outside of its design limits.

Yes, the entire power train warranty would be void. I have 3 remapped cars and only S-Cross is still under warranty period. My plan is to revert back to stock map, if there are any major warranty claims.

They are the initial batch alloy wheels.

What he has done is stuck Carbon Fiber stickers which were purchased from AliExpress.
