Congratulations. Unleash the beast after the run in period. What was cost of the basic accessories? Is it the Sonax cleaning kit?

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I am planning to upgrade projectors. I have decided to install Mini D2S projector setup from Xenon Planet. I am very unhappy with width of stock setup. Stock projector output of S-Cross is poor than AES setup in my SX4.

I agree to that. Will you be retaining the stock HIDs ? Would really appreciate the cost break up. From where are you planning to get the installation done? Will this effect the headlight leveler mechanism?

I have to change the entire setup. I can retain only stock shrouds if new projector could fit in it. Headlight leveler mechanism will work as usual. I am planning to get it done in Bangalore. Xenon Planet has an experienced installer, but they are yet to open up their own shop. It would be done in some other place by their installer.

Cost :

Mini D2S Projector Kit(Projectors, D2S bulbs, Shrouds, 55W ballast & wiring) : 19,500
DRL : 3,500
Installation : 3,500
Total : 26,500

XP has come up with new 55 W ballast. It has less than 5 seconds start up time. I have opted for these ballasts. Regular 55W/35W ballast would cost 2,500 Rs less.

What does this do to your warranty? Does it nullify the initial warranty and/or the extended warranty?

Sounds good, but the warranty would go for a toss. Any idea if they have a professional installer in Mumbai or Pune, else I mite have to drive down to Bangalore for the installation. Moreover I hope the BCU won't throw any tantrums.

Update on my 1.6- The car has done close to 2.5k on the odo. Couple of pages back i had posted an issue with the 6th gear. Happy to report the GB is doing it's job pretty well. The car is giving me a mileage of 18.69, pretty well for a 1.6 i guess.

Warranty would be intact. Xenon planet doesn't cut/mess around with stock wiring.

I don't think they have an installer in Mumbai. You can contact them for more details. ECU won't throw any errors.

Please dont open up the stock headlights which are imported. It will cause issues with respect to warranty and reliability and will be a huge blow on your pocket if you want to revert it back to stock. Instead, buy the headlight assembly of the lower variants and retrofit the projectors. That will keep the stock headlights intact and you can either use it or sell it if you are not in need of it. This is the first time someone will be modifying a HID setup I guess.

If I were you, I would just consider upgrading the HID bulbs to a 35W or a 55W setup. Be it Halogen or HID, wattage is wattage and the light output will increase. I have driven the S-Cross in Europe with a higher wattage setup and it was quite good in low beam itself. The reduced wattage because of absense of washers is creating the problem here.

Stock headlights are not imported. It is made by Bawal Lumax.
Maruti S-Cross : Official Review-img20160614wa0000.jpg

Buying headlights of lower variants for retrofit is a good idea. I have seen the work done by XP and they are very professional. They offer warranty for everything. Reverting back to stock should not be a problem as there is no cutting of reflector.

Stock projector won't be able to handle any extra wattage. Stock ballast is just 25W. Higher wattage ballast would reduce the life of already weak stock projectors.

Light spread is almost triple fold with AES setup.
have you played with leveling the stock projectors. seems it's pointed way down which restricted the light spread or it's due to the wattage of the stock.
I have driven a Scross here at chennai and i found the light is good enough till 120-130 kmph with Fogs on.
I'll check it again sometimes and post the observation.
Could we switch on the DRL kinda in the stock heeadlight permanently.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Any scope for light upgrades to non-Alpha S-Cross'? I would want to get better lights, as the High beam is not that good IMO.

Also, I am fancying of getting those white light Xenons if feasible. Any S-Cross owner who owns Zeta or lower variant has upgraded the lights?

I have not touched stock settings. But I feel something is not right. S-Cross doesn't get proper DRL like Baleno. It is just a parking/pivot lamp. It is not bright. Only way to keep this on permanently : connect the wring to ignition. But I do not suggest this. S-Cross has no option to keep this on in MID settings.

Mi10 has got projector setup from Xenon Planet in his S-Cross 1.6 Zeta. If you want better width and more light, projector retrofit is the way to go. Only drawback is opening up of headlights. But if the work is done properly, it's not an issue.

Can you please elaborate on what you mean by "white light Xenons"?

If you haven't done so already, please see this thread: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...ting-here.html

As your car has normal halogen set up, I would advise you to first upgrade the bulbs (Osram Night Breaker Plus/Philips Xtreme Vision) keeping stock wattage. Check out the high beam lighting. Then, if you are still not satisfied, I would strongly recommend that you invest in aux lamps.

On my previous car, I cycled through all options before arriving at this combination. Good quality bulbs of 55/60W - OEM wattage - causes minimal damage to stock electricals & headlamp housing (I learned the hard way ). Even high beam with Osram/Philips is OK for city usage i.e. up to 80kmph. For the highway, use the aux lamps.

Ajay, you can opt for upgrading the bulbs to a higher wattage (100/90W) with proper headlamp relay with wiring. For Xenons or HIDs you need to install Projectors. Let me know if you need any help in case you need an installer, I will PM you his details.

Something like this
I liked it at first for a change but after sometime i guess black looks good to me atleast .in real life scross may be looking quite bigger with same color bumper.
Those alloys and the body colored cladding really seem to transform the stance and looks of the S-Cross. Nicely done.

Drive on,
Shibu.
