If i drive it moderately then no smoke ( 4th gear + turbocharger kicks in= No smoke ) In past maruti have successfully diagnosed black smoke issue for my car.does changing air filter or engine oils will make things better? 2nd free service is due this week and i am in two minded over oil change .
P.s no performance loss is felt.the car just flies when turbo kicks in but i can see black smoke in rear view mirrors which worries me.

Will ask the SA to examine intercooler and air filter. Anything else i need to change in 2nd service? this is my first diesel car so have little idea about everything
also my car is September 2015 manufactured and took delivery in February 2016. 5 months idle time is too long according to me.
Forgot to add.Do you do more of city running. If yes then the excess smoke will subside after some heavy foot driving. This used to happen in my swift due to slow speed city driving.A proper highway runs used to clear off the soot deposits from the exhaust.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I got my 1.6 S-Cross Alpha today. This car has literally spoilt me after 50 KM drive today. Turbo starts kicking in at 1500 rpm followed by mad push. Car does 80 KMPH at around 1500 rpm in 5 th gear (right in turbo zone). I just need to gently tap the pedal and car picks up speeds effortlessly. Totally in love with 1.6

I would suggest to change the pump. Go for Shell if possible. Also, get the car checked.

Congrats Naren.
Enjoy the beast and Happy driving.

I am also contemplating the 1.6.
Need to rethink on boot space and 7 seater requirements are really required for my next purchase. otherwise 1.6 is clearly a winner

Thanks!

Try BRV if you are particular about boot space & 7 seater. If you want a driving machine, 1.6 S-Cross it is!!

I have to finalize either XUV 500 W10 FWD / W8 AWD or S-cross 1.6 + some inline 4 with 2 wheels

No hurry, hence take my own time to plan both mind and finance.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Here's my S-CROSS 1.6

The Car is an Absolute Beast. Especially in Grey. Superbly Understated but the look certainly grows on you.

I haven't driven a lot (only some odd 25-30 km, All thanks to the busy schedule)
But here are some additional points I want to make.

1. Contrary to popular opinion I find the Clutch to be quite decent. Not hard but not light either. Maybe because my previous car is an SX4.

2. The TURBO LAG is absolutely psychological. I found the car quite easy to manage in traffic conditions. I have only driven the car on City Roads of Mumbai and I didn't have the slightest problem in putting my car in every spot whenever and wherever I wanted (Special thanks to the Superb Handrest)

3. The Interiors are Fantastic. I've opted for the Neon Lights and Ambiance is way beyond any car in this segment. In one sentence the Car feels Worth all its Money.

Here's the Most Under-Rated Car of 2016.
(EXTRA : Side by side with its 9 year old brother.)

Just tried hard acceleration in neutral gear and car emmited lots of black smoke.will visit service centre tomorrow (next to my building) for Appointment and will let them know the issue in advance.so on Thursday when i visit service centre they will be prepared for it. To be honest service advisers have very less knowledge about 1.6 engine.
Yes i do almost 90% city driving. I know i should have gone with 1.3 but somehow i only liked 1.6 Occasional Long drives justifies my choice

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

To all the proud owners of the SCross 1.6-Where is the engine oil filter located?? Is the filter different from the ones used in the 1.3s??

Regards,
Shashi

Congrats on your prized possession

The alloys from Brezza makes the S-Cross look smarter. Good choice.

Wish you a million safe and enjoyable miles

I have decided to go with the Creta SX(O) to replace my brilliant Ford Fiesta.

Maruti made such a big mistake not providing these alloys for the car! Looks stunning from the side profile now. Congrats.

I hope Maruti is watching this thread. They have not even provided these alloys as official accessory for S-Cross. Thanks to Leoshashi, I asked my Nexa dealer to source it for me.
