Re: 2015 Mahindra XUV500 Facelift : Official Review

Hello all, I'm looking for a good pair of headrest monitors for my XUV500 W10. My requirement is to play 1080p HD videos through USB drive and be able to mirror the same video on both the screens. I don’t actually need a DVD player, but okay to inevitably have it as long as it would have the USB feature, support for 1080p and the ability to mirror on the other screen.

The ones available at the Mahindra showrooms are their own branded age-old DVD players and do not support High Definition. So is the case with the outside market where they have similar ones from MapMyIndia, etc. In the online market there are a few, but many of them mirror videos played only from the DVD player and not from the USB drive.

Any suggestions regarding this would be useful

Hi all, a quick question, someone in my family is going in for an Automatic W6. The car is May 2017 manufactured. Has there been any changes done to the interior or exterior of the car post May 2017?

Nope. There were changes done in April for connected apps based infotainment etc. Many sources have hinted at 170bhp new version due in next six months or so.

If cost is not a constraint, Why don't you just buy couple of ipads? with a Jio connection you can not only stream almost all media content via popular channels but also do much much more!

Thanks for the suggestion KAN! I don't mind getting a pair of ipads, but would I be able to mirror the same video on both the ipads? Or is this feasible on any other brand of tabs for that matter?

I think it seems feasible. One sure shot way is Airplay. See the following link as well:

Guess similar stuff should also be available on Android ecosystem!!

The retailer (a friend) strongly recommending these!
They seems to be working fine for now!! Will share if any issue arises.

Finally my Xuv is back after repairs. Sterling Motors did a very good job.
Total damage was rs 82205, out of which I had to pay rs 6100, as lot of parts came under consumables and had to pay 5% on metals parts and 5% salvage charges.
Is this correct? Do we need to pay for metal parts and salvage charges even with 0 dep policy?

Attaching photos and bills.

Based purely on rear interior width which one is the leader? XUV 500 , Jeep Compass or Hyundai Tucson. Asking since want to install two kid seats plus 2 medium built adults in rear seat without using the third row as the luggage with a stroller will take up that space!

There is no way you can seat 2 adults in the rear along with 2 child seats in place in any car. 2 adults with a child seat will be comfortable in the XUV among the options you have listed.

Owners in Thane, Maharashtra, where do you service your beast now that Global is closed? My 30K service is coming up.

Mahindra website mentions Salasar Autocrafts Pvt. Ltd. at the same location that Global was, but nobody picked up the phone when I called, so probably not operational yet.

Hey Folks, I believe this was reported earlier in some thread but I didnt really think it was true till I experienced it recently. The gear indicator in XUV in addition to show the current gear also acts as a recommendation if you slot wrong gear. I was going up an incline in bumper to bumper traffic and accidentally slotted 3rd in place of 1st and immediately noticed that gear indicator did not show 3rd despite leaving more than half of clutch. It stuck to 1. I tried it few times and figured it does work. Tried 4th in 2nd gear speeds and again it was spot one. Pleasantly surprised to find something after 2 yrs of ownership

Generally no, but these policies have a lot of fine print in them and hence the best option would be to ask your insurance provider for the exact terms of your policy.

That's actually part of recent firmware upgrade (April/ May 2017). Along with Android Auto firmware upgrade on the car, the odo-console ECUs/ displays are updated too.
