The upgrade, as indicated in the mailer is for the three features only. Additionally you get a couple of other indicators like mirror fold, trip details and DTE. For the connected apps feature, the silver box update is required which will cost in the range of 60k.

Just got a call from one Mr. Gopinath from Mahindra explaining these details, in response to my tweet.

Basically update the entire head unit which makes it wi-fi capable and connected apps compatible. This is what i could make out from the discussion.

Pls suggest!!
I am not surprised about this since in my past experience Sterling is the worst dealer in Gurgaon.
Normally the MASS guys respond quickly on this and will carry repairs to whatever extent possible. They will not replace but will do touch ups, adjustments to reduce the damage.
You could negotiate with them and escalate to Mahindra! Mahindra seems to respond well on escalations!

Re: 2015 Mahindra XUV500 Facelift : Official Review

Dear members i own the 2015 W10 AWD, and i need your kind feedback from the learned ones. Hence will deeply appreciate your taking time out to clarify my doubts since i plan to once again travel into mountains where some areas are quite steep. Hence all the questions are in relation to this planned trip in the mountains.

1. Can I continue driving the car at a steady 40/ km @ 3rd gear instead of shifting it frequently without harming the engine or overheating the car? Is it advisable?

2. Like many modern cars automatically shutdown the AC when the car needs higher energy to negotiate the steep incline and on its own switches on the AC, so is this feature also available in my version of the car? Since the car has start stop button which automatically switches off the AC in stop mode or when ignition is required, so I suspected that the above stated mechanism may also be inbuilt.

3. In case it is not, then can i continue driving using the AC even on steep hilly roads?

Will appreciate your kind feedback. Thank you very much in advance.

Thanks and cheers

DS

I went in for an update of my Jun 2015 cheetah, Somehow Ecosense is not getting updated. There were 7 options in the I-Smart software, 4 related to ecosense, I could get three only Viz
one touch lane departure--> Press the indicator stalk without slotting into turn switch and the indicator blinks thrice.
Ideal gearshift indicator--> An up or down arrow near the gear indicator in the cluster suggests ideal up or downshift.
The third one was some system software, couldn't check its utility.
The service exec tried his level best to update ecosense but couldn't and has taken it as a challenge as he had managed to install the ecosense app in all stock cheetahs, but mine refused to, He has promised to update after speaking with the Nippon guys (Silver box OEM)

The new update also let user to reset the service alert by ourselves. That means you could get xuv service outside and get it reset by yourself. The procedure is same as how you invoke tpms reset .The difference is you have to use the button on RHS of cluster. Information courtesy the technician who updated software on my xuv.

Insurance of my XUV is due on 25/05. Last year when I bought, IDV was 1444247. Now this being the second year and first renewal what should be the correct IDV? I am getting quotes for IDV ranging between 1150000 and 1470000.

You can select your desired IDV, But the right thing to do is keep the IDV at the sweet spot, Dont under or over value your car, Simply reduce 10% from your current IDV in your case its 1444247 - 10% and go for it, +/- 5% here and there isnt an issue. Hope your going for the zero depreciation add on, Its highly recommended.

I got my 2016 model updated too when it went for 20k service yesterday. I've always had connectivity issues with our Moto phones, which I've been complaining to Mahendra about. but looks they've taken care of it for good.

The update is well worth every new paise. Works beautifully. I have always been a fan of TuneIn Radio. For Indian music only Gaana works. There's of course Google play music.

Thank you for the reply @Tanveer, yes I opted zero depreciation add on. Also as per you advice, reduced 10% and then added 4%.
I got it renewed from Tata Aig, as they have national tie up with Mahindra.
IDV 1351814, costed me rs30201 including zero depreciation add on, key replacement, loss of personal belonging and RSA.

Great, The price is pretty competitive as well! Drive safe, Keeping renewing the insurance like this every year and you shouldn't have any issues.

Re: 2015 Mahindra XUV500 Facelift : Official Review

Hello everyone,
I took delivery of my purple cheetah about 10 days back & it is around 340KMS on the ODO. I have a small query to clarify. I observed whistling sound from the engine bay when the rpm is above 1000, considering I am in run-in period is this something normal or should I be worried.

veterans please advice.

Regards
Prabu
