Re: Renault Duster AWD : Official Review

Not a Duster owner though a great admirer. Is it true that it was only the 110 which suffered from this injector problem, and that the 85 uses a more robust technology?

From an independent buyer point of view, the horror stories of injectors failing and very expensive service have substantially lowered the sales potential of this lovely vehicle.

Yes, its mostly the 110PS cars which have the injector failures. Not just the injectors, other parts also fail (ECM, AC compressor, headlamp stalk, door latches, AWD shock absorbers, AC control box to name a few).

Also, the 110 PS cars have an expensive DMF whereas the 85 PS cars have a rigid flywheel. As there are moving parts in the DMF it is mostly shot on high mileage cars which need a clutch replacement and the bill can go upto INR 55K just for the clutch+flywheel replacement.

Replacement of disks and pads will make you say goodbye to INR 11K.

There are CBUs which are cheaper to maintain.

Re: Renault Duster AWD : Official Review

I own a Duster AWD purchased in Feb 2020.I had a long trip last week mix of normal and hilly terrain, while returning home yesterday gears were not slotting smoothly.Today while leaving for office, gears were not slotting at all so I had to use my two wheeler. Any idea/suggestions from members.? What could be the possible problem?

Preliminary evidence of the gear selector linkage getting dislodged.

Need more info, like did some gears slot-in and some didn't? What kind of sound does it make while slotting them in? Is there a difference in the behaviour of the clutch? Does the gear lever feel free?

Thanks for quick reply. Gears are slotting in engine stopped condition. As soon as engine is started, it's very hard to slot gears.

Thanks in advance.

Seems like a synchronizer issue, internal to the gearbox. You need to call Renault to assist you immediately. State that the vehicle is inoperable. Get it towed to the service center (specify a flatbed truck only, don't get it towed otherwise in any case). Ask them for the diagnosis. Ask them for a repair under warranty. Buy extended warranty for the max duration before standard warranty expires.

Is the slotting-in and slotting-out equally difficult?

Already have extended warranty for 5 years. Gears are not slotting in /out while engine is running. I will call Renault for assistance. Thanks for prompt guidance.

Re: Renault Duster AWD : Official Review

@vkpal - Can you move the car using second gear or reverse gear when the engine is running? if yes then its the first gear Syncro. Else its probably the clutch itself.

Re: Renault Duster AWD : Official Review

Returned from a 2500km drive through Waynad, Coorg and Chikmagalur. The drive from Trivandrum to Kozhikode and return was very stressful. The rest of the drive was enjoyable with lovely roads and forest, coffee plantation scenery and sparse traffic. The Duster AWD performed brilliantly. Also drove through 13 km of forest roads in Bhadra wildlife sanctuary which took 1hour 30 minutes in mostly 1st gear and occasionally 2nd. AWD was very useful with several water crossings and terrible and sometimes non existent road.
This was a lovely trip and enjoyed the vehicle performance on the mix of highways, village roads and very bad roads. The fuel efficiency was decent at about 14kmpl. Filled up Diesel from Reliance, Essar and twice from BPCL. No issues. The Duster AWD is a mixture of Ecstasy 95% and Agony 5%. The rear left shock absorber has a slight leak, so a replacement is coming up shortly.

My Duster AWD is at 90K on the ODO and on the second set of shocks. First set- all four were replaced at 35k in warranty. Now again my left rear shock has developed a leak.
After some trying, i have managed to source the rear shocks from open market.
Costed 8900 per pair, a nearby spare parts shop helped me source them!

Havent got them replaced yet due to shortage of time.

Re: Renault Duster AWD : Official Review

In a TeamBhp meet, we decided to have an OTR session. 7 Duster AWD's from Team-Bhp kolkata participated in the OTR along with other cars.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/team-...ml#post4980652 (1st meet after lockdown - Kolkata meet on 17th Jan 2021)

Glad to say, all the Dusters performed really great. Duster AWD is definitely a potent off-roader in it's segment. Am definitely not going to compare it's capability with the Suv's having Low range.

Let the pictures do the talking-

The line up. Bhpian Ghostrider28's Duster missing from this line up.

Re: Renault Duster AWD : Official Review

Hello everyone, need some help.

Mine is an October 2014 AWD, i guess from the initial batch of AWD in Thane.
I have had my fair share of mechanical issues, injector, Ac compressor, Alternator, timing belt and always gotten everything done from the ASC.
Though i love mine and have found it to be a pleasure to drive it especially in the western ghats and the broken roads of interior Maharashtra, i wished a more reliable product from Renault.

My AWD suspensions have given up, the ride quality isnt the same anymore. Its noisy and a lot bouncy. It needs replacement. (its done 70000kms on the odometer now)
Plz suggest, if i should go in for a company stock replacement from the service center or one from the after market like Ironman( or such)?

Information like this makes the Team-bhp very valuable.
Just how reliable are the newer Dusters? I see it comes with 105 and 154bhp variations. Are these two suffers similar problems?

Have you got it checked to find out what needs replacement in suspension?
I suggest you stick to stock suspension unless you are into offroading. Ironman etc. cost a bomb compared to stock.

Check my post above, after market struts are also available easily:
