To be on the safe side you change the batteries every 2-3 years on both the fobs as they don't cost much. They use the same batteries as a wrist watch. In fact i was never charged by MSIL for changing the fob batteries. I paid Rs. 50 to a watch shop for changing the battery in my dzire's remote.

I don't understand why Suzuki provides a key when there is no use for it other than opening the doors. In case the fobs are out of power, this key is of no use at all.

The key is very useful. When the fob dies there is no other way of opening your locked car and if you go through the video that i have posted above you can clearly see that once you open the car it is possible to start it even with the dead fob.

The Ciaz sold 2099 units in July 2015. One thing which is to be noticed is that even Honda City's sales have dipped to 5180 units, from the earlier 7-8k it managed.

Looks like the C-segment sedans have been hit in anticipation of newer launches like Jazz, S-Cross and Creta.

Would be interesting to see how Honda and MSIL react to this decrease in numbers. As August has already started we should see the new offers starting tomorrow. Let's see if either of the C2 segment leaders offer some discounts or offers.

The new offer for CIAZ is out. The following are the details:

Cash Discount:

For petrol/diesel: Rs. 20,000/-
MGA worth Rs. 7000/-

Exchange bonus:

Petrol: Rs. 15k
Diesel: Rs. 30k

It means that in diesel you can get a total of 50k off and in petrol 35k off. Additionally you also get 7k worth of accessories free.

That's pretty hefty discount on the Ciaz considering it had absolutely zero discounts up till now.

While speaking to Nexa personnel, looks like many prospective customers of Ciaz are awaiting the launch of S Cross and could swing either way based on the price.

I got 60000 in total. But if it were august, I would've had 70000 I guess.

But Honda City doesn't even give mudflaps free.BTW Ciaz 1.6 will not remain the vfm that ciaz 1.3 is.

Leave the mudflaps they have increased the handling charges from 6.5k to 10k now and have even increased their prices by 2% from August 1 as per my SA. In all this the discount is still 0.

Since last year when i bought my city the price has gone up by nearly 1 Lakh for the same variant. I got my car evaluated when i test drove the ciaz and i am getting almost the same amount for which i bought the car in fact even slightly more than that which is pretty impressive.

First time seeing a car appreciate rather than depreciate.

Maruti has finally broken the 10 lakh rupee jinx. The Ciaz is a nice car and has broken every myth regarding Maruti and its quality. Talking in a lighter sense, it is lot un-maruti like.

Lol, Maruti too doesn't give mud flaps for the Alto K10 AMT, expecting it for the Ciaz is impossible.

To what I can understand, the 1.3 MJD is mass produced that is used in Swift, Dzire, Ertiga, Ciaz, Ritz, SX4 (now discontinued) and S Cross.

So with all these cars getting the same basic engine expect for slight difference in state-of-tune, what Maruti has achieved is 97% localisation that makes cost of production very low. Price per unit being lesser, net pricing of the car too becomes less making it a VFM.

The 1.3L Ciaz is a win-win for both the manufacturer and the customer due to higher profits per car sold whereas it is the opposite with the 1.6L MJD. They'll have to import the engine from Italy. Extra costs and only 67% localisation will not let Maruti price the car well keeping all features list same as the 1.3L Ciaz.

IIRC Maruti gives mudflaps as standard on the swift dzire and the Ciaz though not body coloured. I remember seeing mudflaps as standard on the display cars in the showroom.
