Even i am a big fan of Apollo tyres and they rock nowadays . There is great improvement in Apollo tyres especially the tubeless ones. I would suggest go with the stock tyres and you'll love the drive

Also, has anyone done this before and what (indicative) cost difference could I end up paying per tyre? I am based in Mumbai suburbs.

Your response shall help me make an informed decision.

Thanks in advance.
My suggestion is to keep the stock Apollo Alnac. The reason of replacing it with Bridgestones by paying extra is not going to give any big difference or if you know the real world difference between them in terms of performance and durability, you can post the same to justify the replacement.

Vijayk, I too got sparco black antenna from ebay for 700 bucks. Installing is simple, just unscrewing and screwing. Just search for sparco black on ebay.

Could you post a picture of the same. How much time did it take for installation?

Just one small correction. The base variant of the polo only has airbags. ABS is standard on the comfortline and highline.

Could you please put up an after-install pic of the same. Just wanted to see how well it fits and gels along on the stock antenna base.

Cheers

Is this flexible enough when you cover the car? If this is going to be a static one then you will face issues with car cover unless you have a customized one.

vijayk, I see that Raghav_K has replied to your post and that you've already placed an order for it.

For others who want the Sparco, in addition to online sites, you can also get them at many car accessory stores. Accessory shops that sell car music systems, seat covers, cosmetic modifications etc. usually tend sell these. I got mine (for our i-gen i20) at one such store for 650 rupees. The black is the best one, as it matches the colour of the antenna base.

It's quite rigid and inflexible. But the length itself is very short and it's rather thick and strong. So it shouldn't be a problem with the ultra-light synthetic car covers that are sold by dealerships as original accessories.

If one is going for the heavy tarpaulin type car covers, it would be better to get one with a dedicated antenna slot (similar to the one for ORVMs).

Will post in an hour or so. Installation takes 5 minutes, just unscrewing and screwing.

Vijayk: Did not search for seat covers. Though i want to put one, i cannot decide between leather vs fabric cover. What do you have in mind?

Btw i too have got apollo tyres, couldn't find any fault with them, till now.

If it's that easy to take off, won't last a day in my society. Advise you to fasten it with Loctite.

Well, even the stock antenna is that easy to take off.

Edit : googled loctite. Seems to be a good idea.
