@andydude I got a mapmyindia system which costed me 32K with rear camera and sensors, don't have the model info as of now. Will post pictures later tomorrow. I really like the navigation system on this one. I got Dolphin seat covers for 14K which pretty much means I got ripped off

Thanks in advance.
Thanks @rki2007. Same here, have no clue about the brand PK. A couple of google searches didn't pull up anything but my heart was set on it the moment I saw them. The 4 alloys cost me around 22K, the nitrogen, chrome nuts and tax costed me another 2K.

Karthik is the guy who runs the show at Tyre Plus, a very busy chap but a nice guy who knows how to treat his customers. The workmanship and job quality was excellent and the workers are well experienced.

Re: Honda Mobilio : Official Review

I just knew the prices aren't sustainable. The Mobilio's sales slide further, down to only 2098 for December. Unless corrective measures are taken, it's going to sink to sub-2000 levels. Few cars have ever recovered once they got there.

Pricing it higher than the Ertiga was plain stupid.

Well, it was only 2 weeks back when I was at a Maruti Dealer ASC along with bhpian alokgunhal getting his SX4 attended that we encountered an aged father along with his 2 sons in a conversation with the sales representative regarding the Ertiga.

Initially they started asking typical questions like what is Free service and what is covered and excluded and etc.

As a typical me, I poked my gentlemanly nose into the conversation to help them clear a lot of doubts they had on buying and owning the Ertiga based on their requirements.

It further surprised me when I learnt that they were first time Car buyers and never had any experience in driving and hence also inquiring on how to enroll for Maruti Driving school and the timelines to get a licence.

I learnt from them that they first visited Honda Show room for the Mobilio and these were the 2 reasons they mentioned as to why it was not considered -

Price is too high compared to the Ertiga & seats are thin.

Those prospective customers who are moving away from the Mobilio are mostly due to the price tag and rest of the irks are only secondary.

Despite a better & roomy 3rd Row and adequate boot space, the price was the only concern.

Again, I clearly explained on how Ertiga too is only a 5+2 Flexi seater and does its job for those occasional drives with full occupants and otherwise roomy 5 seater and if he is looking at space for 7, he better graduate his choice to the next level.

Excerpts from ACI on Dec 2014 numbers for the Ertiga clearly shows the it hasn't really faced a competition (Let alone tough) ever since the Mobilo was launched. And now, we are hearing almost 60K increase in models across Honda cars due to excise duty (while Honda yet to confirm on how costly will Mobilo further become)

Quote:
Meanwhile, of Maruti’s UVs, the Ertiga and the Gypsy together sold 5,774 units (December 2013: 5,146), up 12.2 percent year on year

Re: Honda Mobilio : Official Review

Thoroughly enjoying my long drives in Mobilio.

Last month did a seven day trip of 3200KMs with relatives from US Bangalore-Tirupati-Bangalore-Madurai-Rameshwaram-Kanyakumari-Trivandrum-Guruvayoor-Bangalore.

I just can't emphasize enough how comfortable long drive with Mobilio is. I have in all done 9k+ KMs in three months and there is something in this car that makes the long drives quote fatigue free. My relatives drive Lexus and BMW and they too found the car very comfortable and that made me so very happy

Also came across this news of Mobilio winning MUV of the year award at recently held CNB awards by NDTV and its RS variant launch in Singapore at INR equivalent 60L.

Not to steal your thunder, but the award in itself is worthless IMO since Mobilio was the only nominee for that particular category.

Not surprising when you consider they give away awards for 16 different categories in a market where about 20 cars launch every year.

Surprised..
I get in city mileage between 18-20 and highway mileage between 22-24. I have driven 10k KMs already and been consistently getting this mileage. your acquaintance can reassess his driving style to get the best mileage from the car.

Re: Honda Mobilio : Official Review

I am in the market looking for a MPV, graduating from Ford Fiesta Classic. I have been following this thread and the comparison with Ertiga as well.Apart from the looks, I understand the overall plusses and minuses of each car, but still find the Mobilio seats and space a tad more practical than Ertiga. I have had a few test drives of both the vehicles and it s a classic case of heart (Mobilio) vs mind (Ertiga) here.

The reaons are: it is premium price for not so premium features vs value for money spent. Also keeping in mind I had the top end Fiesta classic and the comfort feel (i know should not compare a sedan!!) I get in my current car is missing.
I am interested in knowing more about your long drive and how the vehicle behaved in different road types, particularly the last 2 rows and also overall safety / comfort levels.

Innova is a distant third only because of price, middle row (i can only get captain seats as it will be a company lease) and parking constraints.
Given my current car, mileage is not something that is at the top of my mind.

This is the same question I had in mind and still keep bothering my folks about it.
I've done 3 trips to Tamilnadu so far, first one to Yelagiri, second to Yercaud and the third to Hogenekkal and my brother in law took it to Goa. We always drove with a full family of 7. And I always batter them up with the same questions, "How's the comfort?", "Did you get thrown around when I went over pot holes or over speed breakers?", "Are you getting enough air at the back? etc... The response is always positive, everyone says they were quite comfortable at the back. I'm surprised my nephew who's taller than me (around 5'8") always prefers the last seat. On the last trip from Hogenekkal I got my fat cousin and his dad to sit on the 3rd row seats and drove straight to Bangalore for 3 hours. I profusely apologized to them in the end saying i should have stopped and shuffled everyone around but they said they were pretty comfortable and didn't have any issues. So yeah maybe its the family being nice to me. Not so with the wife, she's a stickler for things especially comfort and I have forced her to sit in the third row a couple of times. She hasn't complained either. Having read so much about this car on the internet this was the only thing I was worried about in the Mobilio and my worries are now all gone.
One day I would like to sit in the 3rd row and decide this for myself but till then I'm going to happily accept that my family isn't bothered about it.

There's one more related thing on my wishlist. The middle variant that I picked up doesn't have a sliding second row.
I've decided to beat the hell out of the honda guy who took such a stupid call to do this and then figure out a way to get the sliding seats installed somehow.

Re: Honda Mobilio : Official Review

Thanks Prad!!

This helps immensely in addressing the concerns on ride quality at the back.

My concerns now remain on the pricing vs the lack of features. Given the price, i am disappointed with lack of features / dull interiors in the vehicle. And i also find it absurd that certain features like ORVM indicators, are available only in the RS Diesel variants. I am looking for petrol.

And i am not sure i am really getting the value for money paid!! so this is the heart vs mind dilemma!

@essrags I understand your dilemma. I was in the same boat a few months ago. Take some good amount of test drives with your family. They should be able to help you decide. I found the ertiga to be too sluggish when I drove it with just one person and the innova was super expensive compared to the mobilio. That helped me decide cos there was no other choice.

Re: Honda Mobilio : Official Review

I am looking forward to replacing my 4 year old ( 68000 kms) 8 seater Innova. Reasons:1) Noisy and loud engine 2) 2nd row is bumpy 3) Absolute displeasure to drive for long distances and I end up feeling very tired 4) Mileage 5) Need a change.

I am looking at the Mobilio ( Diesel version). Is there any upgraded version likely in the next few months?
Do we have any long term ownership reviews here?

I hope Toyota Launches the Avanza this coming festival season, without delay. The vehicle is roomy, and definitely value for money. Then we will have more choice in the segment.

Hello Ritesh, this is not an exaggeration, but I cannot believe my eyes for the reasons that you have mentioned above for replacing your Innova. Let me share my views on the 5 reasons that you have listed.

1) Noisy and loud engine:
I am assuming you have the diesel version. In that case I agree this can be a deterrent for many. If you are used to petrol engines or refined diesels then you can find the 2KD-FTV engine quite noisy. However once all the windows are rolled up, there is a muted diesel clatter filtering inside the cabin and that's it. If you have your music volume on 10 or more, you won't be much bothered about the engine noise upto 100 kmph. Above that it becomes a little bit throaty, but is not at all unbearable

2) 2nd row is bumpy:
Now I don't get this. Innova provides the best comfort amongst all the UVs and that is the reason why you will find many tourists demanding an Innova for long tours.

3) Absolute displeasure to drive for long distances and I end up feeling very tired
This is the first time I am hearing such a statement about Innova . On the contrary I have heard stories of people doing hundreds of kms in the Innova in a day and still coming out as fresh as a daisy

4) Mileage:
Innova's mileage is at par with other UVs. However if you are going to compare it with other sedans or sedan based UVs (like Ertiga, Mobilio etc), then definitely it will be on the lower side). If you want a spacious cabin for 7/8 people traveling together for long distances in ultra comfort, then mileage becomes second fiddle and nothing can beat the Innova here. I am getting a mileage of 13.5 kmpl for my daily office runs (which has quite a not of highway and night drives) and around 14 kmpl of long drives.

5) Need a change.
Let us know your exact requirements and then we can propose the best fit for you.

I don't think there will be any upgraded version of the Mobilio likely in the next few months, because it is not even a year that the Mobilio has been launched. Since it is only 8-9 months since its launch you wont get any ownership reviews beyond this duration.

I knew my decision would make a few go .

My Innova ( damaged and repaired in the 1st year, due to driver falling asleep on wheel) has a weird knocking in the 1st gear, which Toyota ASS hasn't been able to rectify even after 20 services. My go-to- mechanic points it out to the engine block being misaligned on the chassis.

The Bench seat, is very wide and comfortable to sit on, but sitting behind the driver on bumpy roads, surely makes me queasy. I have to hold on to the handlebar above the window, to stop myself from puking( exaggeration) in the car. The car moves/rolls a lot on bumpy roads.

Maybe driving a huge van is not for me,since even on 80 odd kms drives, it drains the hell out of me. I am used to driving automatics, since last few years and this could be the reason for draining me out. Or me being spoilt by the Honda City Auto and an A4 2.0, could be another reason towards the 'change my Innova' campaign.

As for my requirement,
1) I need a 6 people( mix of adults and kids, along with the driver) transporting vehicle, mostly within the city.
2) The van is driven by me once in 3 month to a farmhouse 80 kms away from Mumbai.
3) Alternate day run is about 20 kms to and fro and driven by a driver.
4) A Van with a smaller overall presence, which is why I am leaning towards the Mobilio.

P.S. Banging the Innova at 80 kmph, doesn't deploy the Airbags, even with both front passengers wearing the seatbelts. The SRS Airbags are a humbug.
