I don't have a Grand i10, but if the true keyless entry system (with smart key & start-stop button) of the Grand i10 works the same way as that of the i20, then you don't have to worry.

The boot does get locked when you lock the car, with either the remote or by pressing the request sensor on the door handles.

It appears "unlocked" to you, only because you have the key in your pocket. In Hyundai's keyless entry system, the boot does not have a separate request sensor button (as on the Nissan Micra, for instance). The request sensor is integrated into the boot release button under the Hyundai logo. On closing the boot, it automatically locks itself.

So if you have the key in your pocket, it will open. But it would not open if someone tries the same without the key near the car. You can try this yourself too, by placing the key a couple of metres away from car, and then opening the boot.

It should not open. I think this should be the case with your car too.

If it does open even when the key is well away from the car, then please get it checked at a Hyundai workshop.

I do own a Grand i10 and what RSR mentioned in the previous post is true and you do not have to worry about anything unless the boot opens even when the key is away from the car.

In Gi10 the boot release and the request sensor for the boot is a single button. So when the car is centrally locked and if you want to open the boot all that you have to do is :
1) Keep the key near the car
2) Press the boot release button once for centrally unlocking the vehicle
3) Press the button once more to release the boot

If the car is already centrally unlocked, for example in a mall parking where security guys want to open the boot, you just have to press the button once to release the boot.

I hope I have cleared aghost's doubt.

Rather my problem than Grand's, due to the habit of placing the feet on the clutch while driving (unless in highways). Downshift to 3 becomes mandatory but 3 with rev reaching 3000 rpm pulls off decently till 60 - 65 kmph . 5th is effective only if the car is above 70 - 80 kmph. Not sure if it is a common case of Grand I10, as Whitey had been taken to extremes in the initial days of its operations. Expert advice sought.

I had the exact same problem/doubt in the initial days of my ownership until I figured the answer out by myself.
I must also say that the keyless entry feature is one of the most convenient features I find in the car. I didn't think of it much when I bought the car, but the convenience of not having to grope through your pockets for keys or juggling bags and keys in your hand is an absolute bliss. I will perhaps never get used to not having it now, I suppose .

I have faced both this issues in my initial ownership of Xcent petrol. Since i am tall, i adjusted the seat height to maximum and now no longer find the clutch prohibitively high.

Regarding low end torque, yes its a bit lesser than expected. I have to put the car into 1st in speed brakers. Also the car will stall if i release the clutch in 1st gear without giving gas.

I guess(or rather hope) that this should improve gradually as the car puts in more kms and first service.

Hi all,

I finally got my chassis number after a month of booking Grand i10 Asta.
There was a lot of delay at the Chennai plant for asta models due to shortge of alloy wheels. I have only been given a 17-digit chassis/VIN number, enough to make out the year of mfg (not too concerned with month detail at this point). Also the dealer asked me for the remaining payment apart from the 25k booking amount. I was of the view that full payment needs to be done only once the car is sent for registration and told him so, albeit politely. He agreed with half the payment till I get to do a PDI in a week's time when the car arrives.

Folks, I have a couple of questions -First could you pls suggest is it worth going for the for 3rd & 4th yr extended warranty? It costs anothr 5k and is only for the engine & brakes. The dealer didnt give me discount of a single penny as it is a new model so am little inclined towards cutting undue expenses.
Second need expert advice from an owner whether I should go for change/upgrade of tyres as read across across a few posts that ride was less smooth/boring/etc. will it help? Also will be glad if anyone can share a bit about cost incurred in exchanging stock tyres with the likes of michelin/bridgestone/etc. Any contact for tyre sellers around Powai/Kanjurmarg will be great help.

A question for all buyers, is Hyundai now offering extended warranty on the car?
When I bought mine in December, I was told no extended warranty is available on the car just yet, regardless of the 2 years standard warranty.

Yes it's being offered. I was offered 3rd year extended warranty at the time of purchase. It was mentioned in the pricelist as well. It was about ~3.5k for the petrol. I was told it can be purchased anytime within the first two years of the car. The cost will be marginally higher the later you take it. A difference of hundreds is what my sa told me.

Question for fellow Grand/Xcent owners.

I have a strange observation on my 5 days old Xcent petrol.

The engine temperature gauge - stays slightly below the mid way mark even when the car has been driven for adequate kms. Infact, i have never seen the needle settle to exact mid way mark.

It it how its supposed to be? In my earlier WagonR and Spark, the needle would settle exactly at the middle.

To answer your first question, I think its wise to go for extended warranty. How the warranty works is slightly tricky so please be sure to understand all the terms and conditions and if they are offering for brakes, I say please take it.

By the way I am almost in the midst of finalizing a purchase for Grand i10 AT Sportz. Which color is your car? I somehow feel the Wine red goes really well.

This is perfectly fine, I think. I have the exact same observation for my Grand i10 as well, the engine is the same for both cars. I also think that the needle settling in just before the half-way mark signifies optimum temperature and should stay there as long as you're driving. Experts can certainly chime in.

Even in my Grand i10 Diesel the max temperature is slightly less than the mid-point. I guess thats fine.

I am planning on a replacement for my Esteem very soon and am confused between the Grand i10 Sportz/Asta and the Honda Brio SMT (Exclusive) .

The Brio has a brilliant engine however the features of the Gi10 is pulling me towards it. Not sure what to do

My better half liked the Gi10 when we took a test drive and thinks the rear

What did Hyundai say about the tyre upgrades because I was looking at going for aftermarket alloys and 185/60/R14 tyres if I get the Gi10 even if its the Asta since i donot like the design of the alloys ?
