You can get the car checked at FASS before finalizing on the deal. FASS will be able to give you an estimate after checking the clutch condition. Hard clutch is a normal issue on Diesel cars which can be fixed easily by doing a clutch overhaul at FASS.

I got the car inspected at Ford ASC, they confirmed the clutch issue. They can only replace the clutch, the cost will come out to be around 16k with labor. Another thing I found out was that RH side rear quarter panel and passenger door were repainted due to scratches. Rest everything is in good condition. Not sure if I still go ahead with the car.

Model in question: https://www.cars24.com/buy-used-ford...e-10201377795/

I am getting this at 9.5L, OBV shows a valuation between 9.2L-9.75L car in good condition.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

I reckon the quoted price is high, I recently bought a 2019 Diesel Ecosport trend with 25k kms on the odo for 7.15L.

All said and done nothing to beat an ecosport. Good luck with your purchase 👍🏽

While I believe the clutch and panel repaint is not enough to reject a car, the price you're being quoted is very high! I have a close friend finalizing on a 2021 Titanium Diesel at the Hosur Toyota U-Trust for about 8.5L.

I got my 2017 Titanium Diesel from Delhi for 5.5L in August.

Bengaluru used car prices are through the roof and cars24 is the water tank on top of that roof.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hi All,

My 2019 EcoSport Titanium+ Diesel has clocked 117000 kms. Its clutch was quite hard and there was a slight delay in getting the engine cranked post pressing the start button. It was due for the service as well.

It went for service yesterday using Ford's free pick up and drop service. The SA promptly called back and explained the condition of my car. He advised to change the clutch plate and timing belt. As per SA the recommended odometer reading for timing belt change is 120000 kms. I agreed for both the recommended changes by the SA. The initial quite given by him for:

Clutch Plate change was 14k & the same for
Timing Belt change was 9k

My vehicle was delivered back today post all the agreed changes, service and some other nagging work. Now my EcoSport is surprisingly smooth and it feels peppy as well. The ride quality has improved as well because of the suspension adjustment work. The final bill post all the work including service etc came for Rs 34800/- and I was advised to pay Rs 32800/-.

I am quite happy to acknowledge that my EcoSport is partly restored.

Hope it helps.

Thanks
Anupam

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

My Ecosport 2019 AT was flashing the engine oil pressure warning light on cold start which would go away once the engine was turned off and re-cranked. Ford service was duly informed and initial diagnosis at the service station was that the oil pressure sensor was faulty and needed replacement. Part was ordered and replaced in 2-3 days at the service station.
After about a day, same issue cropped up but this time with the engine malfunction light also turning on. Car was then dropped off at service station for diagnosis. After a few days I was told that the oil pressure sensor was faulty but powertrain module etc and electrical wiring harness was also damaged. Parts were ordered and got the car back after 2 weeks and multiple follow ups.
Car in question is the Ecosport AT with about 33,000 km on the odometer. Luckily I had opted for extended warranty and repairs covered by the same.
Process was slightly stressful and no real clarity on work done. I am also now concerned about long term reliability of the automatic transmission.
I am attaching screenshot of bill received. Would appreciate it, if someone could decipher the same.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hi all,
I own a 2018 Titanium (O) automatic ecosport. Our running is way less since we have clocked around 40,000 kms. Both my front tyres are gone and I have been thinking of getting them replaced. I have 2 questions
1. What brand and tyre should I get the stock ones replaced with. I am a sucker for VFM
2. Should I get all 4 replaced or just the ones giving me headache
Thanks all

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hello all,

Putting forward a conundrum I have been having and requesting help/guidance on the same.

My 2017 Ecosport recently has started showing a behavior which I am not able to completely figure out, though I have some guesses.
There is a certain wobble emanating from the front right side of the vehicle. That same tire had a screw stuck into it for a long time before I noticed and got it removed and a puncture put in. Is it possible that the prolonged driving with that screw has caused the tire to loose its circularity slightly which could be causing the wobble? It starts getting noticeable post 50-60kmph. Even when I brake from those speeds (or faster), there is a decent wobble felt through the steering wheel.

I don't think this is from the suspension, but again I am not completely clear.

If somebody could please advise as to why this might be happening.

EDIT - To clarify that I have recently got alignment and balancing done and the issue did not go away post that either.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Guys, I am considering a used - 2013 Petrol Ecosport (1.5P). 50K run.

1. What are some known issues with this car?
2. Any specific parts or components which are prone to go bad (Ecosport petrol specific).
3. What should I specifically check for when I go to inspect the car?

PS - I do know about the "general the wear and tear parts", which will need to be inspected. So I need some advice specific to Ecosport Petrol - what can go bad in this 10yr old model. (eg. honda city would likely have a ignition coil problem, in which 8 would need to be changed).

Thanks!

Is this the manual or automatic? I don't think the manual petrol had any issues. The TDCi from this batch had some issues, and the petrol DCT AT wasn't the best, but the petrol manual wasn't too notorious.

This (pre mild-facelift of 2015/16) had just one common issue: the tailgate request sensor failed often, since it was exposed on the handle.

Only other thing: do think about if you want to buy a ten year old car of a manufacturer who's already exited since a few years.

That said, the EcoSport is an extremely good package; it remains one of the best offerings in that segment.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I am undecided too. I will think about it only if the price is good (he mentioned 4L).

Yes its a Manual. I know the owner, but I haven't inspected the car yet. I wanted to ask here first.
If I buy the car, I will prefer to get it serviced/ repaired at an fng, (I do this for my current car). I will have to check with him regarding easy parts availability.

Thanks!

Hi! My question is have you been rotating tyres? Because, mine has done about 53000 kms and tyres are still good for at least another 10-15000 kms with tread depth of ~4 mm on all 5 tyres still left - I've been religiously maintaining pressure and rotating all five tyres (though service center insisted on 4 tyre rotation, I insisted on 5 tyre rotation).

If only the front tyres are gone, I would suggest to rotate the tyres - measure tread depth on all tyres and put the ones with max tread on front. This should go good for another 10000 kms, assuming the rear ones still have enough tread left. And also assuming that hair-line cracks have not developed on sidewalls due to ageing.

If tyres are to be replaced (i.e., if they've aged and my above suggestion can't be implemented), better to replace full set i.e., all 5. And for the new set, follow tyre rotation regularly to extract maximum life.

Happy Miles!

Hi! Try by rotating the tyres. Put the probably damaged in spare or rear wheel. And then please see if the wobble still persists.

I own the Facelift model and got it on Nov 24, 2017. The car has run 500kms so far.

See this post on my delivery experience:

Today, while starting the car I noticed the 'wrench' icon on the dash with a message 'please see owners manual' getting displayed on the MID. No other indicators were on except this. Being new to Ford and clueless about this symbol, I switched off the car and restarted it after a couple of minutes. This time, the symbol too disappeared along with other symbols. So I drove back home and everything seems to be fine.

I called the SA to find out what that symbol meant. I was told it is a service reminder and I didn't have to worry. Not convinced with that answer, I searched the net and there are many posts that mentioned about this issue in various Ford models mentioning incidents where the car lost power while driving. This really concerns me a lot.

After reaching home and waiting for 30 minutes, I wanted to see if the symbol appeared again. Thankfully, it did not. I then reached out to the SA and also connected up with the service person. Both of them said if this symbol appears while running then it could mean something faulty. I have been asked to check it again tomorrow.

So, the question is whether existing owners seen something like this? Is this something I need to worry about?
I had the same issue, but with a power loss. It happens usually while coldstarts and when i cover about 500 m the car warns me with "see manual" and i cannot accelerate as usual. There will be high vibrations too. After my research through web and forums, i realised that the car automatically goes into a mode where it's powertrain is not further damaged.
