Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hi All,

My 2018 Facelift model EcoSport TDCI has completed 126500 KMs and I am planning a Bangalore - Ladakh - Bangalore trip next month.

I will get a thorough checkup and service done before commencing the trip. However, I have two specific questions regarding my tyres.

[1.] The current tyres (205/50 R17 93H) have done about 25K -

a.) Considering the terrain I am planning to go
Should I get all the tyres replaced before the trip?

b.) Should I upsize the stock tyre profile to increase the side wall?

c.) Is there a way to get the Odometer Error corrected which will happen due to changing the tyre profile?

d.) 205/50 R17 options have different Ratings - but not sure which is suitable in my case:
Ford EcoSport : Official Review-screenshot_20230708_090227_chrome.jpg

[2.] During a recent search regarding upgrading tyre profile came across Load Index and Speed Index which is indicated by 93H in the case of Bridgestone Ecopia R17 for ES tyres. 93 means this tyre can carry a max weight of 650kg at the highest speed denoted by H which is 210 KMPH.

Refer the chart of Load Index & Speed Index Of Tyres

I am of the opinion of sticking to these indexes only else it may cause changes in the stability/braking/efficiency performances. [b]Any thoughts on this by anyone will really be informative.

Thanks in advance.

You can post this in the dedicated tyre & wheel thread section for Ecosport here:
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-...thread-30.html (Ford Ecosport : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread)

When I upgraded to Michelin, speed rating got upgraded to V from H, more on this post here:
Quote:
The speed rating of this tyre is V (240KMPH) vs H (210KMPH) for MRF while the load index remins same at 92. (630KG)
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-...ml#post4624740 (Ford Ecosport : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread)

As you have the 17'rims, choices of upgrading to thicker off-road tyres are not possible, like this AT conversation with 15'
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-...ml#post3986907 (Ford Ecosport : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread)

At the end of the day you are going to Ladakh, not Sandakphu, which has paved roads. So I will recommend that you stick to existing road tyres if it works for you. Regarding odometer error while upsizing you can talk about this to service center. I have seen reports of members updating the same for other cars, however when I drove Uprasenjit car with AT tyres and he didnt correct the same.

For a Ladakh trip you need a taller sidewall for peace of mind and I would suggest you go for a 205/55 R17 tyre or a 215/50 R17. The 205/55 is the stock size on the VW-Skoda 2.0 cars, so options are available with MRF, Ceat, Goodyear, whereas 215/50 has only premium options like Michelin which are expensive.

Both these options are under the 3% variance band and hence do not need any odo recalibration.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

My Ecoboost started giving some trouble after 72K kms in the odometer. The gear becomes very tight and does not slot to any gear during cold start. After the engine is warmed up it behaves very normal. I am suspecting a worn clutch but the service center guys are not agreeing with me. They checked the vehicle couple of times and confirmed that the clutch assembly looks good.

This issue happens only when I drive lot of bumper to bumper traffic on the previous day. Did anyone experienced similar issue?

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hi Everyone,

Ecosport 1.5 Diesel 2016, My car is facing loose gear shift all of a sudden from today. It is happening only from today.

Even when in neutral, the gear shift seem to be loose, And when driving in 3rd gear while shifting gear it is even worse.

Was driving nearby so safely came back home.

Do I need to replace the gear bush?

Any one faced same issues?

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hi Folks,

Im faced with the common problem of deformed wheel nuts on the Ecosport. Its still usable but want to get it changed next time I do an alignment/rotation. The stock ecosport ones are like Rs:261 a piece on boodmo.

I checked out a few other with the same spec of M12 1.5. These options are much cheaper
Tata Harrier Rs 76
Chevrolet Optra Rs 63

Any suggestions of decent ones under Rs 100?

Or should I just crack ? Seems easy.

Hi Folks,

My Ecosport is facing the worn out wheel nut cap issue. Im planning to get that fixed during next wheel rotation. The Ecosport ones are going for Rs.261 on boodmo per nut. That seems very expensive.

Ive checked some other ones which are similar size (M12 1.5)
Tata Harrier - Rs. 76
Chevrolet Optra - Rs. 63

Any other suggestions?
Or should I just remove the caps on the wheel nut as shown in this video?

Had same issue, Caps were deformed and it used to be difficult to take them off. Had gotten all the nuts for 4 wheels from a automotive shop. Rs.80 each including changing it. 2yrs and haven't faced any issues.

There were some nuts that were less wornout and still usable. However, just to maintain balance across wheels had them all replaced at same time.

Have a query of my own related to Fuse box in passenger compartment. For the unused fuses, does anyone have their rating available with them. (Ones Marked in yellow in the attached image).

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hey guys,

A friend of mine is looking to buy a used Ecosport from Spinny. It is 2013 June manufactured Titanium model(has start stop button with keyless entry). He will be the 3rd owner(quoted price is INR 4.3L). Upon requesting for service history, he was sent the attached excel from Spinny.

Can you all check and help me in finding out any red flags?
My observation-

1. During the visit on 2020/10/05, there are many components which are highligted in red but in the subsequent visit(2021/07/31), they are green. My query is, can we deduce from the excel that the work was done at Ford?

2. In the visit on 2021/07/31, the servicing was done for 10000km. What can be deduced from this?

3. Any other pointers w.r.t. the excel or otherwise?

4. Now, this maybe a bit blasphemous, but can we get the registration number of the vehicle from the VIN number?

Thanks.

My Ecosport deformed wheel nuts caps were removed on suggestion of Tyre dealer for free. Looks bad but does the job. Even if you get new nuts they will have same fate once you visit aftermarket shops for tyre replacement / rotation / balancing / puncture repair. Another alternative is to use conventional nuts which doesn't have this problem.

My 2014 Ecosport Titanium diesel has a IDV of 3L now, so I guess you have some headroom for negotiation, considering it changed hand 2 times.

Rather than depending on Excel, why dont you head to nearest Ford service center and retrieve service details of the car which he is narrowing down to buy. Best will be to get it professionally inspected from Ford, just like GTO did for his ride. Contact neighborhood Ford workshop to check if they can work out something in this regard.

First things first, before paying any deposit, I had the 530d sent over to Navnit Motors for a complete pre-purchase inspection. This was the best 8K I've spent in my life. BMW said it wasn't required as the car was under factory warranty, but I got it done anyway. Better to be over-prepared than under in a pre-owned car deal. Navnit screened the car with a fine-toothed comb over 1.5 days. They confirmed that it's had no accident or flood damage. They further confirmed there hasn't been a single warranty replacement or part failure on the car (lemons can show their true colours rather early on in life). This 530d had been serviced on time (at Infinity Motors) and the factory warranty is indeed valid on the car. After taking a test-drive, Laukik from Navnit Motors messaged me one word = "PERFECT". A full report was later emailed to me. They pointed out that the rear bumper was touched up earlier. I asked the used car dealer who sheepishly admitted that the rear tow hook didn't have a cap and it had been repainted. Navnit's attention to detail impressed me when they pointed out that the LHS sunvisor mirror was cracked (I don't check for such minor things in my test-drive).

Finally went with the securadrive considering the budget I had. The initial impressions are good, but the next couple of months will decide if my decision was right.
How are the CEAT Securadrive tyres holding up? I'm looking to install them on my Nexon and can really use some feedback.

Cross posting here too: Can anyone suggest a good Ford dealer for my Ecosport? I am open to Noida/ Delhi or Gurgaon, just want a place which is competent like before, have no clue about the dealers in NCR post exit. If there are any good FNG options then do let me know, my car is the ecoboost variant.

I occassionally use the services of World Of Service, A17, Block A, Sector 67, Noida. I too have an Ecoboost. I have had a satisfactory experience till now.

Have you stopped going to a Ford ASC now? If so then is there any reason why? I have never tried an FNG for car repair but I am skeptical of current state of Ford asc.
