Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Guys, there's a problem. Harpreet Ford( Delhi) isn't ready to register the car on my mom's name. The car is being purchased by my dad but he wants to register it on my mom's name. The SA agreed to it yesterday but declined today saying that RTO would not accept it. Is this the way how RTO works in Delhi? I wasn't able to find anything on their website and I find it hard to believe.

Are you doing a full down-payment, or is it being taken via loan/lease? If its a loan/lease, is that being taken on your mum's name?

Also, the RTO requires address proof (see this link for Karnataka's requirements), so as long as your mum has any accepted address proof in her name, that should be fine.

I'm not sure if there's any other reason for them to refuse this. Have they filled in any paperwork that they're now lazy to redo?

Yup, there is a loan of four lacs and that's been cleared by the bank. The loan has been taken by my dad. The dealer had agreed to register the car on my mom's name yesterday. But they are declining to proceed with registration, citing that RTO will not accept this. My mom has her voter ID and pan card so that takes care of the documents. I find all this really strange!

The dealer is correct in saying that the car can't be registered in any other name.
Even if the dealer agrees to it, there is no way that your bank will agree to that since the car has to be hypothecated to bank.
So your options are either to take a fresh loan in name of your mother or go ahead with registration in name of your father.

That's odd since ICICI has agreed and it's the dealer which is declining! I'll call the bank up again and confirm.

+1 to what nik hill has said - the loan applicant must be the person against whom the car is registered.

If you look at Form 20 from the Karnataka RTO, you'll notice that a copy of the Form 20 endorsed by the RTO has to go back to the bank issuing the loan. So there is a need for all these names to tie up.

Can you get written confirmation from ICICI that the loan can be in your dad's name but the car can be registered in your mum's? I fear its a case of ICICI agreeing to anything to get a loan customer, and then enforcing the fine print once you're committed.

Here's an option - check if your mum can be a joint applicant on the loan along with your dad, and check if that permits you to have the car registered in only her name.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Yesterday I got the 2nd free service done for my ES Ecoboost at Gautambudh Noida NCR. Here's my experience.

My ES mileage is just 7,153kms but the service interval time already arrived (12th month). The car is in showroom condition. Yes, my usage is over short distances, 5 to 50kms and this is not my daily commute car. Total bill was Rs. 1,777 including oil, filter, washer fluid, gasket drain plug and other usual checks.

They gave me Vehicle Report Card with bill which had minute details of brake pad and tyre tread thickness, battery, suspension etc. etc. I never got such a report card at MSM, Okhla, Delhi.

Like always the service advisers were courteous and because I am frequent to their dealership for car washes, 3m check, polish and the like, so most of them already know me.

The fact I like about Gautambudh is they are very transparent in their dealings and listen to customer's smallest requests. Unlike other service centers who are reluctant to allow customers on service floor, here they themselves invite customers to check if you wanted something to be sure about. Example, I clearly stated that I do not want any pressure wash inside the engine compartment due to projector installation and also to replace the engine oil completely, not just top-up. Both requests were met nicely. During oil change they allowed me to stand besides the hydraulic lift and see how oil was drained and replaced. They really have good equipment. Also after wash, the wash-clean supervisor came to me with feedback form and to assure that engine compartment was cleaned with air-wet scrubber and then polished as instructed.

The only thing that bothered me is the oil grade being used for petrol vehicles is Castrol 10w30 instead of manufacturer recommended 5w30. I noticed this on the big oil container at petrol bay and asked this question from service advisor. He said for Petrol cars this is the rating they use. I double checked with guy doing oil change and he confirmed the same. Its not like they don't carry 5w30 and saving space, but they said 5w30 is used for Diesel engines. I was kind'a surprised because I keep a close check on fluid levels and other maintenance schedules. In 8th month I used 5w30 oil to top-up. Now these guys use 10w30, so thats something to note for me during future top-ups. Anyhow I did not insist on 5w30 as considering Delhi NCR weather 10w30 is not an issue but fail to understand why they don't stick to manufacturer's recommendation. I will write to Ford just for records and I did mention this in final feedback form as well.

In India except for cold hilly areas 10w.... would be good. More important would be higher range viscosity as the low range viscosity temperatures are rarely, if ever, encountered

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

The proper grade suggested for the 1.0 ecoboost is 5w20(WSS-M2C948-B).

But owing to global warming, climate change, increased desertification and such other major reasons, and minor ignorable reasons that the service center couldn't stock that proper grade, they do deviate from the recommendations.

An extra complimentary tissue box and an endearing female's phone call from the ford ASS should always assuage our technical concerns.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

I am here to seek the opinion of the experts. I am planning to get the Ecosport 1.5 tdci, but the news of facelift, is causing delay in my decision. As i have not test driven the Aspire, i just want to know, how much difference does the bump from 90 of the current model, to 100 of peak power, make in the real world. As i had visited the showroom around a month back, i recieved a call from the sales person, regarding discounts and exchange offers, may be it is the creta effect, or they want to clear the stocks for the facelift to be launched. When I enquired about the facelift, the response was that he didn't know, and not that it will be delayed, no time frame told. Guys any update regarding the launch date of the facelift.

Wait for the facelift, the Aspire will smoke an Ecosport TDCI but that's not entirely because of the power. The Aspire is a lot lighter as well. Still, 10 hp boost is a very welcome move and I also feel that the facelift is around the corner so it's better to wait. It will also have electrically foldable mirrors along with a better ride as per rumours.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Yesterday when I was parking my car near Golf Course Metro station, I noticed something. There was a Quanto sitting on stones with all of its wheels stolen! Immediately got back in my car and parked somewhere else.
Was searching for Ford accessories and came across alloy wheel nuts similar to what the spare wheel has but these were for all four tires. Does anyone know how much these cost? Harpreet Ford didn't know.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

The New Ford Figo Aspire & Figo hatchback have both been launched with a 1.5 ltr diesel engine with the output of 99 BHP & 215 nm. Since this engine is shared with Ecosport, has ford done mechanical changes of just ECU map ? And if this is a ECU map, will the old ecosport owners be getting this ?

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Today afternoon while driving through the busy Arcot road in chennai, spotted this Ford Ecosport in the new colour (golden bronze). Happy to share it with all. Does this suggest a new colour is in the offering for the festival season or is it part of the facelift.

Note to Moderators: I have been trying to load multiple pics but in vain. Hence forced to load them in separate posts. Please excuse

I also noticed Ruby Red (same as aspire) and bright yellow colours on Delhi roads. However, ford India website does not mention anything about it.
