Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

My Battery had discharged last Friday. Completely my fault, had left the park lights on and boom the battery is dead next morning.
I had to go somewhere in the morning and the moment i saw park lights on, i knew that the battery is dead!
Cranked the engine and it refused to start. Brake malfunction,ABS malfunction messages appeared on display.
Thankfully, remote worked appropriately.
Called roadside assistance at 7:50 AM and as promised the rescue personnel was there at 8:50 AM. Jumper cables connected from spare battery and voila the car starts without any fuss. 9 AM I am ready to roll .

A big thank you to Ford Road side assistance, they did a commendable job.

Now that battery worked fine for 3 days I have some concerns:
1. What are the implications of complete drain out. I believe the battery life will be reduced. but by how much?
2.Will the battery function as normal as it was earlier? I mean will it hold the charge like it was earlier?

After you jump start the car, running the engine for sometime gets the battery charged up to a normal level. Alternator does get a bit overloaded when you charge a completely drained battery but as long as the battery is not bad otherwise, it will get charged and do its normal functions. But it won't be 100% charged as before. For that you need to hook up the battery to a battery charger. Automobile battery shops do this for fully charging up batteries.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Good news. Ford is going to sell spares over the counter. Now we can service our cars anywhere.

Your regular service should cost anywhere between 5-6K. If there are any parts due for replacement, they should add to the cost. You might want to check the brake pads. Also I believe Alignment and balancing will add to cost if you get it done at service centre.

Just overnight?

I grew up in rural England with no street lights. If my father had to park by the side of an unlit road he would never have done so without leaving the sidelights on. That's over fifty years ago, and I have often wondered if today's batteries would support it?

(Hmmm... maybe that's why cars had starting handles --- but I'm fairly sure that this was only in my very early youth.)

Hey! I got my AT in less than two months. I booked on April 6, and was intimated by dealer of car on 28th May, though i took delivery in end June.
But the catch was that I did not book it in Delhi I got it from V-go Ford, Faridabad and registered car on my own in Delhi. Ex-showroom cost is higher in haryana so that's something extra that i paid and nothing else.

PM me I will give you contact of my sales guy at V-Go.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hey guys,
I got my diesel Ecosport 2 weeks back.
Can you guys tell me some basic things I would need to know about the car.
I tried reading the manual but its too big and complicated so a little bit of help with respect to hidden features or anything important would help me a lot.

Also if you are interested, here's the link to my ownership review-

Thanks in advance

Sorry for the inopportune banter Anoop, on a serious note however, have you checked the power steering fluid level ? Or maybe the fluid level sensor is malfunctioning. Hope your problem gets resolved soon
I had actually mentioned this to the service guy, but he reminded me that its an electronic PS unit and doesn't have PS fluid.

A lot of things happen between turning the key and engine cranking and starting.

Whenever it happens, its a scary experience and you start to wonder about the cars reliability - it's happened a couple of times in the last year on my 7 yr old civic and no ones diagnosed the issue properly yet, so I know the tension it causes. I found that both times the key battery was dying, got it replaced and the issue didn't recur until 10 months later when the key battery was weakening again. So in my case I hope that's it!

And I hope its something minor in yours too, anyway atleast you've still got warranty on the car.
They had replaced the relay unit, but the issue still persists.

I am terribly worried about the whole predicament and really confused as to what should be done next. I have lost faith in the service guys, as I am all but sure they will be unable to pin point the root cause and correct the issue.

First Service Experience

..at Noida Ford. Took 3 1/2 hours after getting there at 9:15 AM sunday. Overall experience was good. Next time I am going to either show up at 8:45 or avail of the free pickup and dropoff if the vehicle has no issues needing personal presence. They say that they return any old parts that are replaced.

No oil top up was needed as vehicle had only drive 1500 KM in the three months. Both the rear coil springs were replaced free of cost under warranty as the RHS was making a lot of noise. Tailgate was greased without me asking. Thanks to Team BHP i knew about the coil spring issue and tailgate grease issue from this post -

This is a list of all the diagnosed issues in EcoSport (and other Ford cars) which are supposed to be rectified by Ford service centers. There's a board put up in some service stations.

If your model is included and not yet checked, insist the workshop for same at the earliest.

I also faced some intermittent problem with my ecosport regarding engine malfunction MID and the service centre wasn't able to rectify it. I took stern action and went to consumer court forum in my city and after getting a written notice from the consumer court the service centre woke up and call a service engineer from Chennai plant and he solved the problem. The whole process took about a month but i haven't faced the same problem again since then.
I advice you to do the same.

The Ford EcoSport crosses the 1,00,000 sales milestone, which includes 60,000 Indian owners of the urban SUV.

Ford India celebrates another landmark as EcoSport crosses the 100,000 units sales milestone (domestic wholesales and exports).
Accounting for 60,000 owners in India to date, Ford EcoSport’s 1 lakh sales volume demonstrates customer faith in the urban SUV.

I am prepared to take the same route but am willing to give them one more chance. What exactly was the issue with your car - any inputs regarding the same would be of great help.

Wow so finally the ratio of domestic to export is out. 60:40 ratio!!!

No wonder waiting periods were this ridiculous. 40% of cars made were not for indian roads. Ford have been doing on average 5,000 cars monthly which are domestic sales. That means they are manufacturing 8,000 plus monthly. If they did not have 40% export, waiting periods would have been much much lower.

40% to export also means there must be larger margin on exporting than for domestic.
