The difference isn't 3.6 seconds, but the things I mentioned can certainly make a difference.

The picture you posted shows the 1.2tsi slower to 60kmph than the 1.6. IMO that clearly shows the traction control had come on in first gear, slowing things down. I'm sure the car would be a second faster if tested in proper conditions.

Since the car has ESP, hill hold is just a software addition to ESP. So why not offer it anyway. Also it can be useful on slopes since DSGs do not have that much of creep as normal torque converters.

I am guessing the manual mode for this car, whenever it comes will be around 1 lakh lesser. Then that will be the car to buy:D

apologies. I confused hill-hold with hill-descent. And since I have never used automatics, the need for electronic aids to navigate mall parking slopes didn't quite come to mind :p

A comparative analysis between Liva 1.5 and the GT would be great !

Members here have been talking about the manual, it'll be great if we can have the comparo between the two (which is more FTD) and would it make sense for someone to plonk in the extra bucks on the GT.

Would appreciate if you can provide some insights.

I don’t think there is any mechanical difference between the Polo 1.2 TSI 105ps in India and abroad.

So what is the tuning-potential of this motor? Wouldn't installing an intercooler via Pete's help improve performance? I understand that the DQ200 DSG is a dodgy 'box and susceptible to failure but that's only when the application is a 1.8 TSI mill. An intercooler, a mild remap and maybe a Milltek cat-back should help squeeze a little more grunt out of the engine, but will there be repercussions?

I would not be so sure about that. As I understand it, failures happen due to excessive heat build up - which happens due to driving in intense traffic with high outside temperatures. I would have hardly ever taken my car above 2700 RPM - so I would have hit peak torque but not peak power ever.

Combined with the DSG the tuning potential isn't much I believe. Having said that Pete's with Custom Code,UK does DSG Tuning http://www.jbsautodesigns.co.uk/category/285/dsg-tuning

I think considering the unreliability of the mechatronics module, 130hp/200Nm is a safe remap. Add a nice set of coilovers with the downpipe and exhaust to have a nice hot hatch (at least compared to the ones available in India)

Is is true ? then good to know it is giving away a Sat Nav cookie too :-) Plug in a good Sat Nav device like Garmin/Tom Tom, and see what wonders it will do to get you to the destined place. Definitely a value add for a hatch..

Yes. The GT is a 1.4 TSI 140 bhp motor with turbo. Whereas, the GTI is a 1.4 TSI 180 bhp motor with twin charger ( Turbo+super charger).

The 1.2 TSI is a regular engine option along with 1.2 & 1.6 TDI.

The 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) of 1.2 TSI is 9.7 sec while its 7.9 sec for GT and 6.9 sec for GTI.

I've noticed this before, VW UK does not have an automatic transmission/DSG option for the 1.2TSI Polo. Whereas VW Germany does have the DSG option for the same car with the same engine. As you can see from the screenshot, the DSG has a 9.7 second 0-100 time, identical to the manual.

In fact, I can't remember the last review I read apart from the Fortuner's where the tires were suitable! Any possible reason why automotive companies in India do this? Undersize, poor quality, etc. with the tire selection.

I'm a big fan of meaty tires myself, and noticed how the 185/60's look pretty slim on this car too. I've got 185/60's on my palio stile, and the look of the car and the feel of the drive completely changed for the better.

I'm quite excited to see the next few power hatches coming out in India. Finally some power.

Just wanted to add another perspective.

Had called up KSM motors for an appointment for a general check up and asked about the Polo TSi. The lady said the car is already at their showrooms however the pricing details are yet to come to her knowledge but would be around 2L higher than polo petrol Highline i. e. approximately 8.4L ex-showroom Mumbai. TSi will be available only in highline versions.

I'll give you few other examples -

SX4 with 205 section rubber.
T-Jet with 205 section rubber.
Punto with 195 section rubber.

But in the end, common man doesn't care. All he wants is for the car to have tyres. You'd be surprised how many Swift L/V variant owners are happy with those tiny tyres! People used to complain about low mileage in SX4 blaming the bigger tyres. Its only us enthusiasts who crib for such matters, and we form only a minute percentage of the overall market.

But the Polo TSi is supposed to be aimed at that small market share, and is not going to be an economical purchase anyways! Hence they should have addressed this defect before launch IMO.

I believe it's a matter of opinion, personally I wouldn't care if people can distinguish a TSi car, tagged GT from a normal petrol or tdi.
I don't appreciate car makers adding blingy accessories with no functional use, esp. the chrome deluge that most go for in Indian markets.

Is the bluetooth unit functional? Last iterations of Polos and Jettas have that button and a phone button on steering as well, but they are just dummy.

The new stereo and climate control AC units are also available in normal Polo Highline, I saw one myself at a dealership. It had no GT badge and it was a MT.

It's a shame they didn't put a dead pedal, How hard can it be?
