Nova9, Yes it does come from the car speakers for Android Auto. I couldn't test Apple Air play, since Maps were not seen. But once I started the maps from the apple phone, I could at least hear the directions from Car audio.

Didn't find a way to mute the Google Maps audio in the car play screen. Possibly could be done from the phone.

Congrats!!!
Is it the stock unit provided by VW or did you pay extra and upgrade it?

Gurupalani, I didn't pay extra - it was the default unit. One week before the delivery, I saw a news that there is going to be a new display in the car. When I called and checked, they said they weren't clear when it would be available and there might be an increase in the cost. So I told them not to change the plan and go ahead and deliver. Looks like ours is one of the first cars to be delivered with this model in the Showroom.

And the manual given with looks like this.

Though, the pictures inside the manual are not exactly matching with my unit, though functionally everything described exist in my unit.

Now looks like they are coming up with a X anniversary edition with few more features. Which I think might cost more:

It looks to me that this R340G unit has a bigger screen compared to the R330G unit given earlier :D. Isn't it? What is the screen size?
(The below picture below shows RCD 330G on the left and yours on the right.)

If you tap the instruction panel displayed on map, it expands and gives you option to mute the instruction.

Screen size of 340G is 6.5 inch, 330G is 5 inch.

If I remember, this pic is with expanded panel where you can see the audio icon, clicking on which mutes the instruction.

Any idea if the 340G can be used in place of an existing 330G in a plug and play mode without any wiring changes

Thanks

I'm on the same boat, my Vento TSI came with 330G.
Looking to upgrade to 340G, unable to find it even on Aliexpress.
I can only see 330G Plus as the current alternative.

I've been pestering Volkswagen Hyderabad and Volkswagen india sales team regarding availability on Ameo DSG Highline Plus for the past one month.

Initially they tried to sell me one from the existing inventory, after a few heated mails finally they agreed to order from factory. They are still skeptical about 340G for Ameo DSG. Paid the booking amount and expected delivery is during Dussera. Hope I get the 340G.

The pic I posted earlier was from a new Polo Highline in showroom.

Hi,

I checked with a seller on Russian forum, price quoted was 280$, since this was too much I did not ask whether this includes shipping.

I believe we need to wait for this to be available at a lesser price.

Regards.

$ 280 (approx Rs.18000) for the 340G appears to be a decent quote. You are never going to get it cheaper than that in India neither in ali for some time.

Could you please share the link of the forum where it is being sold.

$280 seems like a fair price, I'm only concerned about the shipping and import duty which might make the price significantly higher

Thanks

Couple of questions, folks :

- what is the on the road price I can expect to pay for the TSI on Bangalore?
- any Diwali deals going on?
-any updated models around the corner?
- what is the real world mileage I can expect in Bangalore city driving?
-is the DSG gearbox still problematic or have the issues been sorted out?

I did a back to back test drive of the Polo TSI, Jazz CVT & the Baleno CVT. Wife & I are simply blown away by the Polo drive. The Baleno just doesn't cut it. While very roomy, the Baleno front seat is actually less comfortable than the Pool's. The back seat is wide but the under thigh support is less than the Polo.

The Jazz drives well in the city. Mild mannered. Absolutely hates being pushed. If I had not driven the Polo I would not have minded it at all. But the rubber banding was obvious after the TSI. The rear is very spacious but the squab seems too small. I remember the 2nd Gen Honda city rear seat being MUCH more comfortable.

The Polo moved from dead last as a choice to the top of the heap. The Jazz is second (bottoms out while going into my basement. Strangely the Polo did not!) and the Baleno is out of consideration.

I received a call from a VW dealer in Chennai earlier today saying they had discounts on offer for the Polo and Vento (across all models and variants). You may want to explore similar offers in Bangalore.

In the city, you should get 10kmpl.

Mechanical, Electronics and Mecho-tronics are constantly being improved based on real life data and learning.

I get about 10kpl in city driving.

Compared to earlier versions, the DSG is much more reliable these days. As swissknife mentioned, VW keeps updating the DSG software regularly as they continuously improve the reliability.

Having said that, get the extended warranty. That will give you peace of mind for 4 years. Even if there is any issue with the gearbox, VW would fix this at no cost.

Having hopped on to all the compact automatic cars threads and having completed test drives of most of them, finally booked a GT TSI today. As expected there were no offers on the car just a free set of floor mats. I chose white color. Maximum wait period of 4 weeks but I feel it should arrive early.
It's coming with bigger infotainment system and with R16, 195 tyres. I booked at Elite VW Jpnagar.
Hopefully my DSG ownership experience will be as smooth as the gearbox itself.
