Launched at 7.99 Lacs - Autocar on facebook just mentioned. Bringing it just under 9 lacs in Northern India. Expensive - its going to have problems in selling. Expect some heavy discounts very soon.
Oh VW why do you not learn ?
So about 1.5l over the 1.2 3 pot highline for the DSG box, tsi technology and esp. Its not that bad to be honest. I'd still buy it at this price.
overpriced by at least a lakh IMHO. what beats me is that why VW havent launched this with a manual box- that would be more in keeping with this car's character and will also bring the cost down by at least 50K.
this has sales dud written all over it. 50K more gets you a Linea T-jet!
Fiat- plonk that t-jet motor in the punto now please!
Hi
I spoke to the vw showroom in bangalore. The price is 9.86 on road bangalore. .going to get a test drive in an hr.
Chetan
Polo TSI launched at 7.99L Ex-showroom Delhi.
Onroad in Bangalore will be around 9.5L. Most expensive hatch manufactured in india.
Definitely seems over-priced.:Shockked:
One can get a solid Diesel engine, almost all of the same features, a similar amount of power, more torque and more interior space with the Rapid Prestige edition launched last week, for just Rs. 1 Lakh more.
BTW, just noticed, there is no mention of Hill Hold feature in the brochure just released at the VW web-site:
http://www.volkswagenlive.in/volkswa...-ebrochure.pdf
IMO not overpriced.
The price may look overpriced to many folks because we have seen the cheaper variants of the Polo in the past with lower spec engines. But IMHO the price is not bad for this well built, well detailed, well deigned, well engineered car, that too along with one of the most advanced gearbox coupled with powerful enough new era TSI engine. AFAIK its first time I am seeing the ESP in any Indian hatchback (below 10L).
Instead of comparing the price of the Polo with itself, compare the price with cars like Swifts and i20s, and the GT will start looking VFM.
EDIT: According to TBhp price comparison chart, i20 AT (4 speed) is priced at 7.89L.
Way overpriced.. I was hoping it will be a lakh cheaper.. I may not be interested anymore, though I would consider a manual variant if they ever launch one..
How about EBD?
Also, any news on the manual (and lesser variants - no down-hill, etc)?
hmmm... an overpriced dud already.
coming to the positive part, and enthusiast will be abel to pick one up cheaper for 4 lacs from used car market one year down the line. Only problem being getting an abused car, and the reliability of the DSG.

i was expecting it to be 7.49 Ex showroom.that would have been a very nice price and would have tempted a lot of potential highline buyers to the GT TSI. lets see how the market reacts. i hope they share the GT TSI sales figures separately and not just a cumulative polo sales figures
Awesome pricing if you consider the amount of tech you're buying.
IMHO comparing the pricing of the Polo TSI to diesel sedans is not right. If you buy this Polo you're buying a premium hatchback,
It is better built than most sedans, forget just hatchbacks.
It is also the most powerful in the segment.
Has the latest tech on board.
The Polo also handles better than most hatchbacks(I've found only the Punto to be better, i20's dynamics and handling is a disaster).
Has reasonable mod potential.
Add to that the Polo is way better looking than most sedans in the price range i.e. Vento, Rapid, Linea etc etc, but then looks are subjective.
And above all its a Turbo Petrol!
So buying a similarly priced diesel sedan is like buying a regular car. Buying this particular Polo is not so regular.
And this is what every real petrol head wanted, so I for one wouldn't mind shelling out that extra 50k.
OTR Bangalore would be around 9.3+ due to taxes. Definitely expensive IMHO. An MT option would be certainly welcome and be around 50-70K cheaper
