Could you please confirm whether the extended warranty is available for purchase immediately and also whether the price qouted is for Polo or Vento.

@41k for the extended warranty, i would be better off investing that in some MF and take a chance with my DSG. I sure am not going to buy it at that price, anything more than 20k is out of my budget. May be this is what VW wanted, a show piece extended warranty just to lure in future customers and not really cover the interests of existing customers.:Frustrati

By the way guys, after a bit of ghat section hard driving on Saturday, the dreaded engine bay rattle has appeared in my less than 5000km GT. This comes in while hard acceleration only and not when i take it easy on the A pedal. I am Planning to get the car serviced in mid April and won't be doing much hard/long distance driving till then, can a service centre wait. Any advice?

Cheers,
D.

Just got a call from dealer that the extended warranty is available for 13081 if bought within 1 year. The warranty is valid for 2 years more and 1 lac KM.

Rattle is either the ac lines or the feul rails.

Thanks, prithwi.
What do you feel, this issue can wait for a month of infrequent usage?

While carrying out a visual inspection of the engine bay looking for any slack clamps on the lines, didnt find any thing loose but did find something else very odd. To the right of the engine bay, there were this some small plastic bag like thing, its like the soft packing used in watch cases put in a plastic bag. I wonder whether its actual material used for some line vibration damping or something that should be taken off before delivery. If its the former, no wonder fuel/AC lines rattle so early in the cars life. I am sure of this though, it does look like it doesn't belong in an engine bay. Will attach a picture of it tomorrow.

Ahh. Sir, That is so relieving to hear. And it sounds reasonable considering a regular Polos extended warranty costs about 7.5k or so. clap:

Cheers,
D.

I've got the rattle since 4k, am at 8.8k now... no issues.. will get it fixed during first service.

Just got off the line with an SA in Kerala. He claims not to expect any changes for the Polo in June/July as its a fairly new car and what I'm hearing are just rumours.

He did seem to push towards a full cash purchase for a "quick" allocation of a car, probably wanting a quick sale.

I'm planning on finally biting the bullet when I head over next week and placing a booking, but specifically for the facelift version, if indeed there is one.

Any thoughts from you guys?

In most likelyhood I would be replacing the head, tail lights and steering from the get-go, and optionally the instrument cluster and RCD system, God Willing.

This is what has been holding me back as well. Since we are so close to May, when the face-lift is supposed to be launched, why not wait and see what changes are there? Also for those debating between a GT TSI and GT TDI, there could be a substantial reduction in excise duty from over 20% to 8‰ for the GT TDI given the new 1.5L engine, the price of a GT TDI could come down by 1 Lac if VW passes on the full benefits.

No SA will tell you that a facelift is round the corner and jeopardise the sale of existing inventory :)

Before facelift is launched they will say no major changes are expected. After facelift is launched they will say that the facelift is a vastly improved product in every possible way. Simple rules of marketing I suppose.

Well the face-lift for polo will come in a couple of months time. I would bet in May / June. There are posts in this forum and elsewhere showing the new polo undergoing testing in India. Whatever you do the sales person will never reveal the truth especially when they are sure that there is going to be a face lift soon.
The posts reveal a redesigned front and rear bumpers and new double barrel headlamps. Interior of these spied test cars were similar to the current one.

On the engine front, I will not go by all these rumors of 1.5 L TDi engine that will be India specific. Especially the international Polo is coming with 1.4 L engine with 3 states of tune.

There is no point in VW designing a new diesel engine only for India.
Posted this a couple of other places as well :)

@Shefiu,
If you are going to change the grill, headlights - well then there is nothing that you getting by waiting for the face lift - other than a price cut due to the new engine ( if you are going for the 1.6 GT TDi )

@84.Monsoon,
I think the 1.2 L Tsi will be retained in the GT TSi. It will be interesting to see if they replace the current 1.2 3cyl petrol with the 1.2 TSi.

For me, the number 1 reason to wait for the face lift is the possibility of having more colours to choose from for the GT TSI - I would go for the pepper grey or the navy blue over my initial pick of candy white. If the polo comes with the double barrel headlamps, then that's another part I won't need to swap out. I'm still hoping that VW changes their mind and include a hand rest as well. So the tail lights, steering, instrument cluster and suspension kit are the remaining stuff that would get replaced, regardless of face-lift or not.

Another point is the extremely slim possibility of getting the EA211 engines with the refresh. Ever since I learned that the 105hp engines come with start-stop system and brake energy regeneration, this possibility has slimmed down a lot further though.

One could hope? Plus I'm not in a hurry anyway since I'm saving up extra for the additional parts that would eventually go in. :)

Hi guys, as mentioned above, here are the pics of the packing material I found in the engine bay. Is this some new kind of sound dampener?

Cheers,
D.

As you could see, it's right behind the head lamp assembly and inside this cavity like compartment.

It seems to be a sound absorber aiding in noise insulation. When in doubt, Google search the part number. :D

Thanks Gannu_1,
I did do a google image search, and nothing turned out, but didnt think of a part search.stupid:
I got intrigued at the fact, that it was popping out of this spot, instead of being inside. Maybe it is the line rattle, that brought it out.
Cheers,
D.

Plus one. I ended up with this choice after looking at 2011/2012 laura TSIs and realizing that I'm unable to go back to manuals. I'm bored of the red, white and black too. I like the new look too, minor or not. Folding mirrors and rear camera confirmed. Am in no hurry, so I'll book immediately post the facelift.

Its a pity for an enthusiast to give up on manuals. I am in the same boat. Thanks to dense traffic and my knee problems of late. Still dont have the heart to pop off the manual TSI.

Hello everyone! Super excited to be here!

It's been around 15 days since I got the TSI in my hand, loving every minute and every second of it. Want to keep on driving the car further and further :D

Just wanted to add my 2 cents; I got the extended 2 year warranty for a little over 7K. I was told that the warranty arrived the same morning I went for my car's delivery, lucky me! :thumbs up Was informed that the warranty has to be bought at delivery itself.

How is the warranty amount different for others? 13K? Is it because you have the option to buy it anytime within a year whereas I HAD to buy it at the time of delivery?

I will post a picture of the extended warrant sheet when I get home. You guys can tell me if mine is correct or not.
