I had put the v-kool 70 on my 2.2 dicor and it works really nice. I also have the 3M CR70 on the jeep but I can tell you that while the V-kool looks pretty much invisible, the CR70 has a slight black tint and you can make out that the front glass has a film.

From my personal experience, the VKool works far better, but it also costs more than double of 3M. IIRC, it costed about 13-14k for the safari about 3yrs back whereas the CR70 costed me 4k for the front and sides of the jeep, so it may be 6-7k for the safari.

I'd suggest you don't go for the side or rear films because you may eventually be caught by the law someday and will have to take them down.

Can the alpine system play music from ones phone using a USB cable ? I couldn't play files from my wife's Micromax canvas. Any settings to be changed ?

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

@Narayan, can the phone stream out using USB / Can the phone act like a USB mass storage, when it is connected to the USB port ?

Check if the phone has a mass storage mode/

No you need to use a simple cable which goes into your phone where the head phones are fixed and the other end to the alpine head unit . It costs about 150 Rs for a good one . Use Aux mode for playing

USB mass storage is disabled in Android but you can go to settings ->developer options and set the debug mode. USB mass storage should work in developer mode.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Guys
1. First service interval is 1000-1500kms. Is there an issue if the vehicle is given for service @ 2000kms since I'm embarking on a 1600km round trip tomorow and odo reading now is around 450kms

2. I was told I can purchase the AMC packages anytime within 1month from date of purchase. I presume if I do it before 1st service the entire 1st service cost will be covered in this ?

First service involves just a few checks and if you have good terms with dealer, can be done in about 2-3 hours. You may call up the nearest service station at the place where you are going if you can spare your vehicle there. As I have heard, tata dealers are very particular in adhering to service interval for warranty issues.

As for amc you can purchase anytime within the first 10000 km or 1 year as I was told. And first service is almost free, so no need to worry I believe.

If you miss any service, it can mean refusal of warranty coverage.
So do not miss any service, even if its a wash

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Firstly COngrats Narayan!

In first service they wash the car and check if thier is any visible issues.

I got AMC done for my truck just before the 2nd service, that is either before the completion of 1st year or before 10k kms.

AFAIK, it'll be refusal of AMC coverage, warranty will not get affected. My Nano's AMC 'Expired' in the second year coz I was 15days late for the free AMC service. But then it hadn't covered 10,000 kms so they made some kind of special request & bought me the package again for ~4,000/- for 4 years. I wanted it simply coz its peace of mind.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Guys, like TSK mentioned, do not miss the free scheduled services - these are key to keeping the Standard warranty itself valid.

Unless the standard warranty is valid, extended warranty will not be valid.

Silver AMC package can still be valid in parts, but Gold AMC packages are valid only with a running & valid extended warranty.

Hence, scheduled free services are very important both for keeping the base warranty valid, and also for the AMC packages.

Ok Guys - thanks. I am going to Trivandrum and hence will schedule the first free service over there. Can anyone make recommendations on preferred dealer to get this done at Trivandrum ?
