Tell me about it ! Was waiting in traffic today, when two guys on a bike come up from behind. One is holding a long aluminium bar (ones with the square cross-section that are used in making furniture cabinets & stuff). As usual, the guy holding that bar has his attention somewhere, and the bar scrapes paint off the bumper ..

But the funny thing is - the damping of the vehicle is such that you hardly hear such impacts when they happen. The thud of impact is so soft that I wonder if anything has happened ..

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Guys I have a query on the rear suspension. I have noticed in the Safari, the rear bottoms out big time with 3+2 seating (2nd and 3rd row). So much that the front will be pointed upwards like an airbus about to take off. Does the Storme also show the same tendency or it looks more neutral under load?

Not something I have noticed. It always seems to have the same stance.

Isnt the Storme pretty much the Aria underneat the skin - and not the Safari Dicor ?

Not at all, this is one big difference b/w Safari/Aria & Innova/Xylo vehicle.
Even the Safari/Aria is fully loaded, either with 7 people OR 5 + full packed luggage, the vehicle does NOT go down to Earth. Also, there is no level difference b/w the front and rear when its loaded like the above.

I have multiple instances of personal experience with both 5+full packed luggage and 7 adults [primarily with office parties]. So, I know what I am referring to

Prem.

My experience is opposite of yours. The Safari Bottoms-out when fully loaded. The rear takes a huge dip. Have seen plenty of Safari been this way including mine.

Age of the dampers and hows the Safari was used can be a reason?

I too have seen such but no aircraft style

Yes the Storme too has this problem like the old Safari.

I have seen numerous Safari Stormes loaded behind and about to take off.

I simply hate to see such stance, but there is no solution to it.

knowing the amount of load (in kg's) in those vehicles would have helped understand it better.

Yes but its not possible to stop them and ask for that

I have seen many Stormes loaded with people in the rear, so lets assume 2 in the rear, 3 in the middle and 2 in the front. So the seats are meant for people to sit in. With this my old model safari as well as the storme bottoms out in the rear.
Person sitting inside wont be able to feel any difference at all, but the one seeing it from outside feels odd.

TATA have as good as acknowledged such - both in the Storme owners's manual as well as the fact that the standard setting of the headlamps is 0 and the next three positions (1,2, and 3) are to get the light focus on the road closer to the car.

I know

Let's keep an eye out - share any pics of such instances we find.

I personally feel the Storme should show less of this behaviour than the Safari.

Yeah i too expected the same. Infact i discussed this with Tata engineers too. So the theory is the CG is balanced and suspensions designed to balance the engine weight upfront and the rear overhang + body weight at the rear.
Now if 7 people are sitting in the rear this causes imbalance and hence the car looks as if its taking off.

I just told them one word. Open the innova suspensions and get a life

I will take the snaps and post here. I have lot many local goons using Stormes - white color and carrying partymen in the rear in our area.

You mean innova does not bottom out ?
Probably the skirting and lower gc does not make it so obvious but I have seen that innova also bottoms out and loaded vehicle scraps on high speed breakers as well.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

The Storme definitely feels much stiffer and tighter overal than the soft and wallowy Dicor. That cannot be totally unrelated to the suspension.
