Of these I guess only this is of any use:
- ORVM (Outside rear view mirror) integrated side blinkers

The rest are imho unnecessary.

Re: Chevrolet Sail U-VA : Official Review

Guys,

Is there any discounts on offer - for the Sail UVA Diesel variant, in Bangalore?

One of my colleague is considering this car - he finds it to be good value for money when compared to the likes of Swift and Figo.

Also, what is the service interval of this car?

SAIL always had been a good looking car when compared to not much desirous cars. Not sure about the sales report for sail so far. Anyone know whether this is a hit or miss?

Hi, I am having mixed feelings towards the car and the dealership experience.

Dealership and Delivery Experience:

First of all, the delivery team has screwed up the delivery date. During the delivery the fitment team has screwed up the fittings. Also the QC check was not done properly before delivery, which is another minus from the dealership. Felt bad for these occasions.

Car Experience:

Initial 1000 KM:

The car is slow on the highways. If I have to overtake someone it should be very planned. I was missing the power punch(turbo after 1800rpm) from my Ritz in this car. Also there are few quality issues in the car. The max speed I drove is 100kmph at 2400rpm.

1. The light in the boot was not working at the time of delivery - Fixed in the first visit
2. The Oil Lock is not working - Need to be fixed in the second service
3.The parcel tray is rattling since day one - Fixed in the first visit but resurfaced immediately after the delivery

1000KM - 2000KM:

The car is still slow and I have not crossed the 2400rpm. The mileage has a drastic difference when I travelled with 4 members on board. But one major plus is suspensions. The car is taking all the bad path holes very effectively.

2000KM-5000KM:

The car got improved in terms of pickup(may be I got used to the car dynamics). The car is no more lazy on the highways. But one issue occurred is on one of my journey to Vijayawada from Chennai, the heater warning appeared on the dashboard for a while. I checked with SA over phone and they told it will not be an issue and can drive down and show the car at Vijayawada service center. But after 100km of drive the warning message has gone and has not reappeared. One observation since then is the mileage has come down to 17.5kmpl.

I am yet to compile the photos. I will do that and post later. Sorry for that.

Till date the car has completed 6200KM in 80days.

The current discounts on this car in Bangalore are 28000/- plus Rs.14,500/- worth of accessories. There is a special edition also available (which is nothing but bare car + accessories fitted at dealership)

The service intervals are as below -

1. First Inspection - 1000KM or 1 month
2. First Service - 7500KM or 6months
3. Second Service - 15000KM or 1 year

Rest all are at 7500KM interval for 6 months.

Thanks

Yes, you are true. This is one of the good looking hatch currently available in India. It is spacious also and comparing with Ritz cheaper too. But I don't guess this is a hit in the market as the sales figures are not confidence inspiring. IIRC, this is sold at an average of 300units per month since October. I feel the main reason for this is GM marketing division only. They never tried to project this car's capabilities like they do for Beat. I could say only because of people's choice this is getting sold and no efforts for GM or their dealerships trying to push this car.

Thanks,

The ex. showroom price of Sail - UVA Diesel LS (ABS) got reduced by almost 20K in Bangalore, thanks to the excise duty cut.

I test drove the Sail UVA petrol last year and it was quite competent. Responsive, good shock absorbers, spacious interiors.

I own an Aveo, so I wasnt impressed that the Sail's steel seemed thinner. Plus the interiors were staid. But I think its been refreshed now.

Chevy service is quite good & the Promise offer is unmatched by any other manufacturer. But resale value of Chevy's are poor, so you should be a long term owner.

Re: Chevrolet Sail U-VA : Official Review

The best part about the Sail is the interior space.

I had to wait with my Son in the car while my wife and daughter were out shopping.

I sat next to him with the driver seat still setup for me.
My son was in his child seat.

Chevrolet Sail U-VA : Official Review-20140315-12.51.55.jpg

As you can see despite two child seats installed, I am still quite comfortably seated.
Sorry about the slightly awkward angle but this was the best I could do.

Is that a rearward facing child seat your son is strapped into? If yes, what is its make? Is it available in India?

That is an Evenflo child seat.
My sister in law used this seat as a airline adapter while bringing my niece home from the US.
