Whoever now wishes to buy BMW, better do it quickly and only for cars that have already been shipped from Chennai. Newspaper reports indicate heavy losses to BMW (and Ford) with considerable damaged inventory of parts and cars. Otherwise probably wait for some time for production and new inventory to arrive.

I am sure they are insured and will scrap damaged cars/parts, but waiting periods are likely to get longer. Similar issues had arisen with Honda with the Thailand floods.

This doesn't appear like much of an issue. If the VIN showed maybe another year (2013-14) etc, then I would be more concerned. So I believe you're good to go and congrats.

Could you share where you could get the VIN analysis done?

Any update on the LCI launch ? It's 17th Dec and still no news !!
Also, does the 3 series LCI come with auto-hold function ?

Finally, any chance of 328i re-launced in limited numbers ?
With all the banning of diesels cars happening, i think petrol is a much safer bet in the long term.

What exactly do you mean by auto-hold function? Hill hold function is already there in the current 3.

auto-hold function?
You won't need to keep your foot on Brake after you stop completely , it goes onto Auto-hold and moves when you press accelerator - I am not sure if this feature is already there in 3 series or not

This feature is absent on the F30 because of the manual pull-type handbrake. The F34/ GT has autohold as far as I'm aware.

There are chances of the 330i coming to India, thats what the pune dealer mentioned. It is essentially the same spec as 328i though.

That would mean hill-hold feature also isn't available. Auto-hold function is a boon in stop and go city traffic and at signals. Not a smart move by BMW given hill-hold function is available even on Polo GT TSI. Most likely the LCI also will not have it.

Am I missing something or does the 320d prestige has no heater option? I turned the temperature all the way to the right, it hits 28 degrees but doesn't go beyond that.

Most cars usually have the heater option. Can anyone else chime in? Am I missing something here?

I reside in New Delhi and keeping the temperature at 25.5° at 7 A.M. while it is 6-7° C acc to Google keeps it warm enough for me with a layer of woolens on.

Even after changing the temperature, you still have to keep the AC BUTTON on for the heating to work. Try and let us know. In auto mode, the heating might not blow from the center vents, it will blow hot air from the side vents and the one on dashboard below the windshield. You have to select the directional air flow buttons if you want it in that way.

The easiest setting to minimise frosting from inside windows while keeping the car warm is to set the temp around 22 to 24 and the air intake vent ideally to auto or to manual if your model doesn't have that option but never to recirculated. Keeping the AC switch on will not hasten heating but rather prevent overheating if the greenhouse effect takes over under a bright sun. It does ensure that the temperature is always ideal (in afternoon driving) but unnecessary is mornings or late evenings.

Thanks a lot for the quick replies guys. I do see how keeping it above 25c does tend to warm the car up slightly.

However, I was looking for a proper heating function like my Elantra has (which blows literally hot air on the H mode).

Probably a stupid question for a BMW, but what is the mileage you are getting in city and the highway?

Is 11-13 KMPL (only using Eco Pro, under running in period) for city driving, a good mileage for 320d?

Just curious that my car is performing well engine wise.
