Congrats! And the best decision was the change to tubeless. Now the ride is pretty good I must say, and it doesn't impact the handling one bit. My 320d is the same colour too. Have you noticed the red in the lci looks different from the pre lci cars? Every enthusiast who has seen my car asks if it is a different red.

Awesome choice of color :thumbs up

I haven't noticed the difference in color though. Brochures of both the Pre-LCI and LCI versions specify the color as "Melbourne Red", I have no idea if BMW has changed the paint's composition for the LCIs.

Thanks,
Paul

Congratulations for the 320d Sportline. clap:

Me and bhpian 599gto recently had a chance to drive the BMW 320d Sportline in Melbourne Red with exactly the same spec interiors, the leather seats in Ivory look very beautiful. Ever since then, I have found it extremely difficult to get the car out of my thoughts. You have chosen a lovely spec, personally I love the Melbourne Red shade on the F30. Glad that you swapped the RFTs with tubeless rubber right away. :thumbs up

Congrats Paul, on bringing your Red Joy home! I had seen a Melbourne Red with all black interiors in BMW's showroom & stockyard. Beige looks great and at least the floor is black. I am attaching a couple of pictures taken in the stockyard to give a sense of the colour. Your pictures reflect a slightly different red as stated by Akshay. Happy motoring!

Hi Nicky, I have already done this. I actually want to know how do we get Google Maps voice commands through the car speakers when playing FM radio. No issues while playing Blue tooth music from Android phone.

Thanks.

A workaround to achieve the above is to play FM from your Android phone and listen to it through the car speakers over blue tooth. However, you will need to plug in headphones and click on play over speaker option to hear it. There is no degradation is sound quality.

Now, when you use Google Maps, your radio will be muted until it says the directions and goes back to radio again. This serves my purpose for now since I don't use Maps everyday.:)

Bit of a noob question but I'm just curious. Is there a downside to taking BSI in terms of the work BMW carries out during service?

I mean would they be doing something extra or more if it was a paid service or there's no such cause for concern and they'd do the same kind of work either way.

Not really, but some things can be an issue, for example, they will change wipers only at Service and not in between even if these are bad. Also, they can't change other things while doing service or repairs unless system prompts so if you visit them for a service and brake oil is showing due for change next month, they cannot change break oil under BSI until next month. If you are paying, you can get whatever you want. The way prices of BSI have shot up and the overall costs of the BMW spares and services, evaluate all options carefully before buying. Extended warranty though is definitely Yes.

Thanks Turbanator. I already took bsi at purchase in oct 2015. I was just concerned that they should not be taking short cuts in what they do just because it's prepaid. My warranty is limited to 5 years unfortunately, aligned to my BSI. In hindsight I would have been better of buying longer warranty maybe without BSI perhaps. Would have given me peace of mind of longer ownership.

Thank you Kelly66! The interiors are Oyster not Beige, Oyster Dakota leather has black carpeting combination, which I feel is a better buy than all-beige. I am also getting a Ceramic Pro exterior and interior coating, which should take care of maintaining a clean car. :)

The Melbourne red colour is metallic and it plays with you eyes, in direct sunlight the color appears orangish-red, under showroom lights it appears light red, at night it appears deep blood red. Awesome color though, BMW's Singapore grey colour has similar characteristics. :)

Where are you based at?

Regards,
Paul

Attaching a pic of my F30 here on the day of delivery. Had already done a few minor things to the car -

-Change to Advan Sport tubeless tyres
-Gloss black painted rims, and front whiskers
-Gloss black double slat kidney grilles
-Body colour rear lip spoiler

Well , since it's raining red 3 series , here goes one more. Mine is 3 months old. Black interior.

Here is my contribution to the thread on red 3 series :)

It's great to see the BMW RED SQUAD out here! Awesome choice of color guys!

@Akshay1234 Where did you source that number plate from?

What modifications have you guys done to your cars? @Strella @neeravnaik

Mods done to mine:
- RFT to Tubeless tyres

Mods pending on my car:
- Ceramic Pro Exterior and Interior coating

Does anyone here have service experience at Libra Autohaus, Delhi? I'm not satisfied with Bird and there are already poor experiences documented on TBHP with Deutsche Motoren.

Hello BHpians! Took delivery of my Melbourne Red 320d Sportline on Friday.

Congrats on the car! You are going to have a great time driving it, trust me!

Those light beige coloured leather seats are going to be a pain to maintain. I have coral red seats and still have to clean them every month specially the driver's seat. Do keep us updated on how the car does in the long term.

I have added sport pedals, and the BMW logo lights. ( The ones which project the BMW logo on the ground when you open the front doors. Looks quite cool at night).

I polish my car on my own once in 2 weeks. Plus my car is mostly parked safely in a clean basement, hence am not getting any exterior treatment done at the moment.

W.r.t. the run flats, I am quite happy with them. Have only used them for 1500 kms till now but I find the ride quality and noise levels to be reasonably good. Plus, for me the overriding factor is the added safety that the runflats offer when you are doing high triple digit speeds. I think all the tyre options are good, just depends on what suits your need the best.

Happy motoring.
