Looks far better than Nissan but I guess its the price and service.

OT here, but I do remember seeing Nissan coming with a 0% loan offer like what VW did.

Probably the fact that it is little more than a rebadged Sunny with a price premium to add insult to injury :D

Are they asking for attention or any maintenance?

So you want the ABS, Air-bag, Engine hot, pump, low oil indicator, water in the tank & other warning icons (lamps) to light up while you are driving? All at once like a diwali lamp? Sure about this?

What i meant was that warning lamps like for seat belt not worn go off soon after starting. I am not expecting a diwali inside my car, no thank you...:)

The water doesnt always go away easily and so the visibility is lowered. I know that sedans dont have rear wipers but especially during night when it rains in bangalore its a bit of a problem. Maybe I was used to it in my earlier Fusion !!!

In the city i am getting around 13. On the highway it was around 17. MY gut feel is that even in city this may improve but for to much of 1/2 gear driving

If a seat belt is not worn, dont you think the light must stay on as a warning for safety reasons. Abroad that is standard

My driving habits are not very different from when i drove a fusion. So not sure if i over steered since this happened more than once. I later reduced speed when turning. What i dont remember is the speed at which i used to take the normal curves in our roads in the fusion versus now. LIke i said maybe the weight makes a difference since the fusion was a really heavy car

Yep, sure looks a little better than Sunny, but then looks as they say, is subjective to individual preference. But yes, I don't understand the considerable difference in price. Is Nissan's service better than Renault [genuine query, I don't know]?

lol Anoop. Charging a little more for efforts expended in making a better looking design is fair, but them charging premium for it, probably kills it, I guess..

My brother recently bought the Black Scala RxZ dCi from West Delhi Renault. The car handles like a breeze, the engine is the single most plus point. FE in Delhi - Gurgaon is almost touching 20 kpl, measured full-to-full over two tankfuls now (total 1470 kms done till date).

Being 6 ft tal, I find the car's seating a tad too low, my head is just 2-3 inches from the roof with the seat in the lowest position. Knees come up, thigh support is partial. Otherwise, the space in the car is awesome, beats any Maruti class sedan or the Vento, Verna, SX4, Rapid, City hands down. The only one that come close are the Manza and to a lesser extent, the Etios. Boot is humongous, can swallow a lot of luggage.

Took a test drive of Scala today evening. I feel a little more head room would have been good for tall drivers like me. I find driver seat is not so comfortable for tall people. These days with so many options, selecting a good car is becoming difficult. I want try something like scala and move away from comfort zone of maruti.

Took a short test drive of Scala today. I was very impressed with the engine performance. Very peppy with respect to a diesel engine, no lag at all but above 2750/3000 rpm it looses its push. Ride quality felt pretty good. Engine is a bit loud above certain speeds. Brakes could have been better and actually slow to react. Interiors are pretty good and Renault have done a good job. Driver seat for tall men are a bit uncomfortable with less thigh support. The price is also bit on the higher side.

But i love my Manza with the 1.3 MJD, it has some initial lag but after that it is smooth as silk and has got lots and lots of brute force and torque to play with.

I also had a test drive of Renault Scala diesel RxZ at Roharsh Motors (Pune) and quite agree with A.G. The Rambler regarding engine performance. Great low end torque and liked the ride quality. I did not find the brakes slow to react. Maybe they took into account various feedbacks from folks having Scala / Sunny regarding brakes. I found them to be quite ok.

I asked them for the engine power and torque curves with respect to various rpms however the sales rep. did not understand it and she said that Renault has not shared this with them either. I found this to be quite absurd since this should be readily available. Infact toyota has it in the standard brochure itself. It is also available on hyundai website depending on the engine we select (petrol / diesel).

A mail to renault india site to customer care also failed to get the desired response. Infact they sent me the standard brochure again which i already have with me. Not sure why they do not have such technical info. readily available.

Finally after lot of search on the net, i got the details. Scala surely deserves better treatment than this from Renault & their dealers. The focus is too much on the duster I guess.

This really spoils the enthusiasm for prospective customers and that too for such a good product.

Just booked a scala RTZ for 10.13 Lakhs onroad which is quiet a deal provided the on road price for it is around 11.65 in cochin. This is a stock clearance sale..This was for my dad and it proves to best fit him for its space and the proven engine.

The Scala diesel in RxL trim is now available at Rs. 8.01 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is about Rs. 85,000 cheaper than before. In addition to the discounted price, the company is also offering two years additional warranty and four years roadside assistance.

The Pulse diesel in RxL trim has also received a price cut, extended warranty and free roadside assistance. The car is now priced at Rs. 5.19 lakh, which is almost a lakh cheaper than before!

Considering there are no comments - Looks like nobody is still interested in them. How did the Nissan-Renault group think that they can sell three variants (not counting DAT Go) of the same vehicle (Micra platform) across a broad price range. The Pulse had a premium over the Micra and after the launch of Micra Active, the value proposition of the Pulse further plunged. No one is going to buy the same kind of vehicle at a higher price just for the looks and one or two features. If one takes into account the Datsun Go, the Micra platform has four hatchback in the 3-7 lakh price range with the same platform and little differentiation. Although the Micra Active & DAT Go are available in petrol version only, and DAT Go is built to a strict cost, as reflected in its crash test results.

Renault India recalls 626 cars -620 Pulse and 26 Scala — produced between September 2011 and July 2012 for potential airbag problems.

Renault India has discontinued the base (RxE) variant and the Automatic (RxL CVT) variant of the Scala, citing poor demand in sales.

As such, the Scala will now be offered in only it's RxL petrol and RxL & RxZ diesel variants.
