Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

I saw some reviews about wind noise at high speed for Duster
Since factory fitment doesn't include rubber beeding for doors, can we add it as an after market fitment?
Has anyone tried that or is it possible ?
I hope it will bring down the wind noise to some extend

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Has any one got the delivery of the so called - 110 PS RxL (O) ??
My dealer has listed the price for this version but says he is not sure if Renault will deliver it.
I want to book this version, but not if it is non-existent.

Will do a thorough PDI to rules out any foul play.

It gotta be the fastest delivery of Duster here. :
Are you sure you booked 85RXL(O) on 28-29 Sept and got it in 12 days ?

I booked in July and still have not received any update from Dealer Renault Palace, Bangalore.

Request any current owners of 85 PS variant comment on this by sharing their experiences.

Please also share ownership comments on the Duster petrol variant, primarily on performance aspects. Cheers !!!
Hi,

I have also bought the 85PS (O) and happy to share my experience with you. I have driven the car about 1200kms and can say with confidence that this is definitely the better choice for city driving. Even in this sometimes i feel the turbo lag nagging...

However, highway is a different story, if you are 4 people in the car you WILL feel short on power. Possibly i say this cause i have been driving 1.6S Fiesta, but from any standard you will feel short on power.

Going beyond 100 will be a very gradual move (if this helps explain)

When I pressed him for the reason he said he will have to clarify with his boss. I haven't really followed up on this front as an really not sure when I will be getting my delivery. Between I had asked for a quote from policy bazar when I was browsing casually the other day. Today I got a call from Bajaj Allianz with a quote of 22000!!

Please let me know if anyone has taken from outside so I can push my dealer too.

Thanks in advance
Hi,

I took the policy from outside. The dealer was quoting 36K change for 85PS(O) and when i went out ICICI was asking 21K and so was Bajaj Allianz. If you just ask the Bajaj Allianz is there any discount they will bring it down to 20K change for you. try it

Finally i bought the policy from Bajaj Allianz, paid 30K for zero dep policy

Hope that helps

Sid

Make sure to bargain on IDV, sometimes reduced premium take a hit on IDV too.

This at 2000 Km is more of a checkup than a service.
You get a wash ,get the air filter cleaned, ecu parameters checked and a zero bill unless there is something out of place.

Oil change is at 10K.

How does it matter if the beading is not on the doors ? They have provided rubber beading on the body so the insulation/vibration absorber is there.

If you look at cars that have rubber beading on the doors, they don't have any rubber beading on the body frame.

What kind RPM do you notice when at 100? Does it feel strained at that speed?
That would help many decide if it cruises nicely.

TBhpian 'Nitinz' has Grey 110PS RXL (0).
I also inquired about this variant, but i was told its been discontinued.
SA also told RXE variant is also discontinued.
RXL is best seller both in 85 & 110 PS as of now.

I was told by the SA that there was a phase when Renault had not started producing the 85 PS version but they had the equipments of the option pack which they retro fitted to the available 110 PS ones. Not surprised if its discontinued but it was never a mature step to begin with.

Are you sure about the RXE being discontinued? That would be a shame as it has good potential with the customer base who like the car but short on budget. I think it was the RXE petrol which they discontinued not the diesel.

On another note the rpm for 110 bhp at 120 km/hr is just under 2500.

Couple of pages back I had done some rough calculations. Courtesy the spec sheet shared by srgntpepper earlier, I had prepared the RPM Vs Speed for the 85ps & 110ps versions of the Duster, if both are running on the highest gear. The table clearly showed that having an extra cog makes the higher powered version cruise at 100 kmph, when the engine is just under 2300 RPM (2260 RPM to be precise), whereas for the 85ps version you have to rev the engine just under 2542 RPM to get to the triple digit speeds. The 110Dci is no doubt a good cruiser for highways.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Has anyone had a chance to see the spares price list?
Can Renault car owners comment on the cost of ownership. Is Renault in the Skoda league by any chance?

Sumesh Mani

I was trying for the same and have very confirmed news from a colleague now working in Renault that 110 + Option pack will not longer be produced. I have hence moved to another variant.

Hi Sumesh,
I have a Fluence for the last 15 months. The first service at 10k kms came to Rs 8500/ . Otherwise there has been no issues so far. The spare parts are easily available and are not expensive. I am thinking of exchanging my Fluence for a 85 rxl(o) duster. Not TD it yet though.
