Very next day when l was planning to take to FNG, it was pretty normal and the gears slotted without any hiccups.

Mine is a 85ps 2016 make. Any idea what issue could have caused this ? Should I take it to service centre or wait and watch ?
Your slave cylinder may be packing up so you should take it for a checkup. I think the Duster's slave cylinder is integrated with the release bearing which means the gearbox needs to come off for the part to be changed.

If it is the slave cylinder and your clutch is also close to being on its last leg, you might as well change that as well.

Many thanks for your response. The slave cylinder was changed around 31K where I was not able to move from 1st gear to 2nd gear. This was a typical 85PS Duster problem is what I was told. The ASC was also asking me to change the clutch that time saying it has worn out but I didn't do it considering it was just 31K. So far I had no issues and the performance has been very good in both city and Highway.

Now the Odo stands at 46K and not sure if I should change the clutch plate as well if they advise me to do so along with the slave cylinder. I know it's major work as they have to open the gear box for this and would charge around 5K for labor only.

Also I feel this happened only after driving bumper to bumper traffic more than an hour. Before that all was highway or city drives without much traffic. As this has happened only once should I wait a bit ?

That depends on your risk appetite. The symptoms are that the slave is on it's way out and the last thing you want is for it to fail on the highway.

Is the oil level in the reservoir between min and max?

The same happened on my Duster few years back. The gears starting to get stuck when moving from 1st to 2nd or in bumper to bumper traffic. I drove my duster more than 4000 Kms after first such occurrence, mainly on highway but did not face any issue. You mentioned that this happened after about an hour in bumper to bumper traffic. For me this timeframe started to reduce with time. It went from an hour to about 10 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic. My ODO was nearing 95K at that time so I got the Clutch, Master and slave cylinder replaced.

About 3 months back this reoccurred on my Duster after about 45 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic. I have driven close to 2500 Kms since then but it haven't reoccurred. My ODO just crossed 1.77 Lakh Kms, so it might be time for another clutch replacement.

One thing I have learned to do in bumper to bumper traffic is to move to N as soon as you stop and not wait for more than couple of minutes in 1st gear with clutch pressed while anticipating moving forward a few inches. This does entail some additional gear changes though.

Eventually you will have to get this replaced, so you can get it done now if you like. My advise is to be present at the workshop when they open the gearbox so you (and the mechanic) can check the status of Clutch and if needed get it replaced to avoid another labour charge in near future.

Hope this helps.

Mines is also an 85PS (2013), covered 75K on the Odo. My cutch has started playing similar niggle. It was a bumper to bumper 1hr drive thru Bangalore traffic. Any info, What will be cost for replacing the master, slave and clutch?

Keep the jack with the floor side to the wall and slide it downwards. You will feel the jack gets slotted in position for the screw to be tightened above to fix the jack in place. See position of jack in this image URL

Thanks the response with picture link.

I just couldn't slide it down but placed it on that spot n screwed at top. There was slide option in the top rubber from where screw is protruding.

I ended up scratching the body (inside there) while trying to mount hence didn't try further to slide it down.

What an pathetic way to mount the jack. It could have been way simple IMHO.

I think I spent close to 24K on replacing the clutch, Slave and Master Cylinder. This was done from a trusted FNG with genuine parts. Although if I remember correctly, the Renault service center quoted around 28-30K.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

-Has anyone replaced the engine mounts on their Dusters?
-Either through a Renault ASC or through a FNG?
-... or can enquire for me?

Our 9 year old 110 PS Duster needs a replacement of the engine mounts. ASC is not too keen on ordering them stating back order of parts, long lead time and high cost of repairs for such an old car.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

I've been scouring classifieds for a used cars for quite sometime now. Came across a listing for a sparingly used 2014 Duster RXL Petrol and decided to check the vehicle out. The overall condition of the vehicle is pretty good. Odo stands at 35000 km. No abnormal squeaks/rattles. A couple of minor scratches here and there but an otherwise pristine vehicle. Tyres have sufficient tread all around and are 2019 make Bridgestones.

I was originally looking for a diesel. However, the expected running is going to be around 10k km yearly so a Petrol makes more sense.

1. Anything specific to be looked at in the vehicle from a PDI/frequently failing parts perspective?

2. What can I expect in terms of mileage from the petrol engine?

3. Also how easy/hard are parts to come by? The vehicle will mostly be used at hometown with the nearest Renault service station at Udupi (~100 km away).

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Hi All,

Can someone guide me to remove the glove box of the Duster? I tried but was not successful as didn't want to break anything inside.

Thank you in advance.

- Cheers

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Are there any rumours of the revamped Duster being released in India? Been watching British reviews of the updated version, looks really good!

Just got hold of the part numbers. Listing them here as I think they can be of use to someone with a high mileage car.

Parts specific to 2WD Duster with 110PS engines. Confirm with ASC for your car.

Top Right - Engine Mount
P/N : 112100627R
Price : ~ INR 11,000/-

Top Left - Engine mount

I think the box is moulded into the dash and the lid is riveted to the hinge. No other way I see it can come out without drilling out the rivets.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Hi All,
Does any one know how to enable/disable the beep sounds on lock/unlocks from key fob?

I have duster 110 and used to get sound confirmation along with indicator flash when the doors were locked or unlocked from remote on key. all of sudden its gone silent and I cant figure out if i have accidently disabled it or something has done kaput.
it doesn't even make sounds when we enable emergency flashing with clicking on lock button 2-3 times.

Thanks.
