I have found a great auto-electrical shop and a clever young mechanic. Men with light commercial trucks and taxi drivers go to them and my co-driver swears by these guys. Over the years I have established rapport with them. They are diligent, honest and direct with me. I disregard the warrantee and deal with these guys. It's always a crap-shoot to do this but I am real happy with their work. I pay them more than they ask and even with that, my service has totalled 1/3rd the cost of going to a dealer...and they do it right the first time. You are out of warrantee so you are in no way bound to pricey dealers..unless you have found a really good one.

Very true! And they are more transparent too.
BTW, can anyone recommend a good FMG in Pune and preferably on the western side primarily from a proximity perspective. I plan to approach a reliable and proven FMG henceforth unless completely unavoidable.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Finally found a decent, well priced FNG in South Delhi for my trusted Duster 2013 85RXL, went ahead with Horn replacement, Timing Belt Replacement, Master clutch Cylinder ( The clutch though still doing perfect but the foot pedal had a little play) the mechanic Kammrudin advised I do not need to open the clutch as the issue is coming from the Master Cylinder. The parts were procured by yours truly.
Master Cylinder: OEM Runault- INR 2400
Horn: Hella ( Pair): INR 525
Timing Belt: Gates INR 1400
Fan Belt: OEM Renault INR 800

The parts were changed and the car drove like a beauty. The service was to the point and in a rare case for NCR no push for additional replacements and no forced selling. The work carried out was at a professional pace. Have used his services in the past for servicing ( though the cleaning etc. are outsourced by him as its a small setup). I moved to the FNG after the horrors offered to be me by Renault ASS in terms of forced replacements and exceptional service costs not to mention the hours spent at the workshop for every small issue.

I have used Kabir Motors for all out of warranty repairs and servicing since I moved to Poona. They always did a better job with my i10 than the Hyundai people, and my Duster AWD will be going to them as soon as the extended warranty is over.

Hi Kartik,
The guys name is Kammruddin and you can connect with him on 9213841894, his workshop is in Uday Park. I have been using his services for the past 7 to 8 years now ( earlier he was maintaining my original maruti baleno before I moved to the Duster).

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Is there any hope of Renault bringing one more facelift of present duster in India before third gen is launched. Because even the turbo petrol is helping them very little in sales. Renault Dubai has teased a 37 second video in YouTube 3 months ago showing a much better duster with updated interiors and exteriors ( of course left hand drive). No further updates whatsoever.

Any hope?

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Has anyone fitted their duster with the "step board" accessory from https://www.renault.co.in/cars/renau...cessories.html , or anything similar?

Does it make it any easier to step into the vehicle for senior citizens? Does it reduce ground clearance significantly?

I've always had sedans in India before, and tired of having to crawl over bad roads and pot holes. I'm considering replacing my parents car with a compact SUV, but climbing into the car can prove a challenge to my aging parents, so I'm wondering if the step board/running board can help with this.

The only thing it helps in doing is soiling your pants while getting in and out.

My grandparents find the height of the duster's seats best suited for ingress and egress.

Side step is counter productive on anything other than full sized ladder frame SUVs (Fortuner, Endeavor, Pajero etc.) as you first climb onto it and then crouch down to sit, that too with one of your foot half hanging off on a very slim and slippery piece, with no grab handle to assist your upper body in.

You don't need a stepboard for duster. It is not a ladder frame setup thus the floor is very low even with high ground clearance as their are minimal parts below the floor.
My father is 82, fragile, and yet he goes inside without an issue inside my AWD Duster with 210 mm GC.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Hi all. The lock/unlock keys on the key fob of my 110 PS Duster have died and Renault ASS is asking 5000 for it. Anyone know of how to get this fixed/replaced at a lesser cost?

Can you share more information about the problem , is it a PCB / just button issue.
If it just a problem with the buttons , you can swap the shell with aftermarket one : https://www.amazon.in/KEYYOU-Button-...=1&ext_vrnc=hi

You could also try getting it fixed locally at any of the locksmith shops .
