Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Just saw an article on Duster AWD.

Looks like production is stopped for India citing low sales.

Can anybody confirm the accuracy of this news?

I knew that there were big discounts on AWD variants around September 2017, although my relations was bad with the Sales Manager at the dealership, the Sales consultant had shared this information with me.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

At 46K on the Odo, I had an unusual A/C gas leak from the vaporiser. The component looks like a radiator and sits behind the centre console. No chance of accidental touch. Replacement and labour cost around 9.5K including gas and filters. The component itself costs 5.4K.

At 90,000 service I had to change clutch kit unit entirely, which costs around Rs.24,000/- The gear nob was damaged by the service people at Power Renaults Service Chennai, which alone costs Rs 4000/-. Power Renaults service centre in chennai is worst one, they also stole navigation card by breaking card lids. The total bill for this service was about Rs.40000/-. The price of spares of Duster is sky high.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Do any duster owners have idea on whether the smoked headlamps which comes as OE fitment is compatible on other duster models?

Had the same question so did physical comparison with another duster which had the new headlights. The outer shape and size of the headlights are exactly the same and the mounting area is also the same.

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't fit. Anyways, I am visiting the service center this week and will confirm if it fits.

During last service i had a chat with SA,but he said smoked head lamp clips wont match with bumper in other models.I don't think there is any clip that attach headlamps to bumper. If you can confirm during next visit to service centre it will be of great help.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Renault slashes Duster price by upto Rs 1 lakh.

Is this a reaction to failure of Captur? Whatever it may be, it's good news for customers.

The 2018 Duster petrol range will now start at INR. 7.95 Lakhs (ex-showroom) while the diesel starts at INR. 8.95 Lakhs (ex-

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

it's also bad news for customer who purchased the Duster at a higher price recently (say in 2017). 1 lakh drop in ex-showroom price would mean a drop in about 1.4-5 lakh drop in the OTR price isn't it?

1 lac drop is only on AWD variant. Rest all have got a cut of 50-70 k. May be it's a kind of clearance sale in view of upcoming Duster.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

There was an offer of free insurance till last week, hope this price cut of 60K is an added benefit for prospective buyers. There is no chance of new Duster being launched till Captur's fate is decided.

Renault could be killing two birds with one stone.
1) Stem the fall in sales of Duster
2) Make room for a possible price cut for Captur

Quite possible. Since Duster still has the mass market popularity and that rugged, muscular build is still attractive. The recent refresh of Ecosport could still be a factor and be a more VFM option but the difference is now marginal. I wonder if its time for Hyundai to follow suit since Creta is not exactly new with an update awaited.

Don't think that is enough to propel Captur. This product is in dire straits and has been completely forgotten. Renault needs to repackage the product and only then resurrect it with aggressive pricing to have any chance. A perfect example of a mismanaged, not-properly-marketed but an internationally acclaimed car that is a dud in India.

Captur is already dead. Price cuts have never helped to revive a flop model in India. Only thing Renault can hope is for some decent numbers for Duster. Duster has a good reputation in Indian market and price reduction should help sales.

Err, internationally acclaimed ? That was the real Captur based on the European Clio, the one that sells in India is the Duster based Kaptur and Renault very cleverly launched it as Captur, but now I guess we can say the plan has backfired!
