Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Can someone please clarify this strange thing. I received a notification about a message posted by a TBHPIan kikikiki on this thread. The message started like this:

"My brother booked a Duster in India from Sprint Cars in Gurgaon in July 2012 and was promised the car within in 3 months."

However it ended on a sour note:

"This has actually made me think is a Renault worth it ? We have bought many cars but never had we had an experience as pathetic as this one. Do Renault treat its customers in Europe the same way or this indifferent style of dealing with your customers reserved for India only ? It is really a pity. I dont want to ever buy a car from Renault or Nissan," The reason being "Dealer demanded 73,000 Rupees more for some price rise.

Does anyone have an idea, where that message has disappeared?

It seems the dealers are salivating due to the upbeat demand & are not ready to protect the customers from price rise, who have booked the car, even as early as July 2012. Is Renault as a company even aware of this? Its high time, they tightened the screws of their dealers, otherwise it won't take long for the negative image of Renault to spread by word of mouth.

I have heard that new cars do not require a PUC for 6 months from the date of registration, but is that supposed to be backed by some provisional certificate issued by the dealer ?
Congrats AG10. Is it 2013 manufactured model with new touchscreen HU?

Thanks Power Freak. No, It's a Dec 12 made car. That I think is what expedited the matter.. some people it seems are refusing 2012 cars.

I think only the 110 RXZ comes with a touch screen navigation and new HU.
Is that included even for 85 RXL(O) ?

More importantly does this new HU solve the FM problem?

I got little more information from Renault Customer care:

My RXL 85ps (O) will have navigation. The specification of the navigation:

1. 18 CM touch screen
2. Multi-color display
3. Turn-by-turn navigation by NAVTEQ
4. Radio - hope FM issues gone by this
5. Media
6. System Settings
7. Phone interface (Blue tooth??)
7. Steering controls (I am not sure what it is!!!)

With Navigation, the price gone by 21K, in Chennai RXL 85 PS (O) ex showroom price is 10,98,200.

However, my waiting time increased from 4 months to 5 months. I am sure there will many things will happen mean time. Already I had seen 3 price hikes, diesel will go up and union budget is round the corner!!!!

These uncertainties take SUVs (so called compact!!!) away like me "budgeted" people!!!

Hi Ampere,

Renault has come up with a patch for the ICE which has solved both FM reception and Bluetooth issue for me.

Thats great. I remember Suchit saying it did not work for him. Lets hear from him too, if there were any followups to that.

Ask for a copy of Form-22 from the dealer. It is a certificate which states that your vehicle is road-worthy and adheres to the pollution benchmarks in effect.

New vehicles of age less than one year (since date of purchase) do not need a PUC certificate.

One thing I noticed when downing the sun visor half way to prevent glare, it comes in the way of the rear view mirror. I
never had this experience in any of the sedans. Sure, I could adjust the rear view mirror but I felt the view was
somewhat compromised. Has anyone else felt this way? Would appreciate any suggestions.... Thanks n cheers

Thanks Snkjr. Checked with the dealer. He seems to have forwarded my form 22 to the RTO. Cant get a copy now. Wouldnt the car's invoice with the date of delivery serve as a proof ?

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

@AG10 - the invoice alone should suffice. By the way, the AFAIK the dealers maintain a dedicated file for each customer. They probably have a copy of your vehicle's Form-22 in that file. But since they have already denied having a copy once, I suppose it will take a lot of coercion from your side to get them to hand you a copy now.

But that hardly matters as, really, the invoice is enough.
