After thinking & hearing alot about the CS & Non-CS version of New Swift Dzire, I've tried my hand to Render it myself.

And The result is;
Full fledged Dzire sedan

& this is Regular New Dzire(CS) sedan

I took a look at the Dzire the other day. Just sat in the car, and looked around - no TD. I was disappointed to find the AT version did not have airbags. I should have thought an AT buyer who pays that extra for convenience should also be offered the highest variant features.

I converted my Ritz VDI ABS booking at Popular motors in Chennai (against an in-transit vehicle done as a hedge against the additional cess on diesel vehicle) into a Dzire ZDI booking since the official wait time was listed as 2 months. However, yesterday they have updated the official wait time to 20 weeks for Dzire ZDI.

Now I have one booking for Swift ZDI booked on the first week of Jan at Vishnu Motors and the second for Dzire ZDI at Popular with a booking date of 29th Feb. I am going to take which ever comes first and cancel the other.

Does anyone know whether the Dzire VDI has the same issues relating to the brakes as the new Swift VDI?

Just drove the new Dzire VDi...
My friend took the delivery yesterday.

My impressions:

The engine is a gem...No two words about it.

Me being a Punto driver, The first thing I noticed was the short clutch travel.
It feels weird for me now and took some time to get used to.
Also since I drive a Punto, I liked the all-round visibility.
The plastics were good and the fit and finish is evidently improved.
If you can stand the looks, all others ticks most of the boxes of most people

The sound insulation is really bad..The noise of the engine was very high even with AC at full blast and music running at a decent volume.
The sheet metal feels like its straight out of a Pepsi can (Pepsi, because I drove a blue Dzire :) )

Other personal preferences:
The ORVM would've been better if they were bigger though the visibility is just enough.
The roof lamp is good for the rear passengers but as a driver, I would've liked more light in the front half of the cabin.

I was going through the latest edition of Autocar India and there is some interesting statistics regarding the performance and fuel economy of the new swift and new swift dzire.

Only Diesel variants are compared.
0-60 kmph : 5.30 secs (Swift),5.18 secs (Dzire)
0-100 kmph : 13.65 secs (Swift),13.40 secs (Dzire)
Top speed : 165 kmph (Swift),168 kmph (Dzire)
Fuel economy : (Kmpl : City/Highway) : 14.6/19.5 (Swift),14.6/19.8(Dzire)
Ingear acceleration :
20-80 3rd gear (secs) : 12.63 (Swift),11.80 (Dzire)
40-100 4th gear (secs) : 13.91 (Swift),13.71 (Dzire)

Even if the differences are small, dzire actually betters swift in most areas as far as performance and fuel economy are concerned !
And yes the new dzire is significantly better than the previous gen dzire in terms of ingear acceleration
Weight of both the cars are same.

New Maruti Swift Dzire vs competition - Overdrive

This is the lastest overdrive comparo between Dzire and its competitors.
Dzire and Etios emerge as joint winners. Etios clicks fpr practicality while dzire champs for desirability according to the shootout
:thumbs up

Drove a friend's ZDi yesterday.

A few observations:
  1. The interior feel especially in the front seats is rich ; quality finish except some iregularities in the plastic in the door lever area
  2. The audIo equipment is the best stock that I've heard in a Maruti
  3. Good all-round view ,facilitated by an aftermarket Broadway IRVM
  4. Reasonably spacious boot ,much more than expected - can easily accommodate four medium size bags
  5. slick , short and precise gear throw quite similar to what I 've experienced on the sx4 and the Honda City ZX
OTR Diamond City is 8.15lacs

Is the new Dzire available in the old Red?

Not the new Blazing Red of the new Swift, but the old non metallic red. I think I saw one yesterday.

How I wish Maruti had done it the other way round. The new Swift looks great in normal red. UK got that shade.

^^ It is available only in the old red and not in the new Swift's red. I have booked the blazing red Swift and if I were to pick Dzire instead red would not be the choice as I don't like the normal red. I guess it is personal choice.

Thanks a lot.
Well upgrading from 800 definitely makes it a step up in terms of braking. But yes braking below the speed of 110 kmph can be termed as 'adequate'. It isn't as powerful as one should expect from a 7 lakh rupees car.
More than the braking, its the skinny tyres that feels inadequate.

hey VIGSOM you mentioned:
