Not at all worth it. Bought Magnetic Sun Shades for my Vento with zipper from a near by accessory shop for Rs.450/-. Never paid more than 600/- for any of cars, as all have these curtains. There is no difference in quality of these so called branded ones on online stores.

Re: Skoda Rapid : Test Drive & Review

Latest updates on my Rapid DSG issue - The service centre came back saying that changing the mechatronics did not work and now they have ordered the multi clutch which will supposedly arrive this week. Been almost 4 weeks now. This going back and forth between the dealer and skoda technicians for every replacement is so much more time consuming and really frustrating.
Is it the case with all manufacturers on major issues like this or is it only vw/skoda?

DSG are complex systems and there are very few other manufacturers who use DSG. So it is only the case with VW group vehicles using DSG. The process is painful but usually there is an end result.

It was in today's tv news as well. These things make a non-enthusiast to re-think if they decide to buy a skoda. Not sure how long can Skoda India continue like this in today's market. Every manufacturer has got issues but letting things go public like these incidents is a total damage to any brand's reputation.

Re: Skoda Rapid : Test Drive & Review

DevSoms,
I think You should go for it, but only after a through check,
Its a very good deal.
I hope, You like and have decided to go for Rapid and not checking this out only because of a Deal. Try to avoid heartbreak later in case of something untoward happening,

Is there any way for You to ensure the car has not been used for test drives, used by dealer for running errand's etc?

Please be extra careful while evaluating the car, The PDI check list items are a good start for checking, and, preferably get yourself accompanied by some sort of an expert to inspect the internals of the car including engine, suspension and other critical components.

If You are thoroughly satisfied, go ahead, If you have a shred of doubt, walk away.

There have been few cases of DSG failures, and Bad A.S.S on Skoda's part, But I feel, their A.S.S has improved considerably in last couple of years, and the horror stories definitely have largely reduced.

Issues do exist, but, they do largely with all manufacturers and dealers,
Good luck

I think DSG boxes though very pleasurable aren't durable or reliable. I think that there is something basically wrong with them causing them to fail at almost metronomic frequency. I drove a 1.2 Polo GT TSI it was great, but I had made up my mind that I wasn't buying this car. Basically, you buy a DSG car from VAG group and keep you fingers crossed that it doesn't fail: automotive equivalent of S&M: you could also buy yourself a leather whip, instead of going in for leather interiors! Why buy it and why suffer?

Hi Hemant,

Many thanks for your inputs. However, i scrapped the idea of going for this car. Somehow when i saw the face-lifted car in person, i just did not feel like buy the older one. I thought i would wait for the end of the financial year ending and then buy a new car based on whats available then in terms of value.

Co-incidentally i got a call from the Volkswagen guys where they are offering me their demo car TSI-DSG Highline with almost 2.5 - 3 lac discount. But they have clearly told me that this has been used for test drives and has done about 6000 kms. They are telling me that it will come with extended warranty as well and since the car was invoiced in Apr 2016, the warranty will be valid for 3 years. They assure me that incase any engine part or gearbox fails they will replace it. They also claim that it will be full refurbished.

Although i was not very keen, i still want to think this through. Plan to see the car tomorrow once before i say no. What would you say?

If you're willing to take risks( IE DSG issues), it isn't an issue. Else look at the Honda!( Considering the fact that most, if not all, issues are sorted!)
Besides, how much is the facelifted Rapid retailing at?
Hey Turbohead,

Thanks for your input. Have decided against buying the pre-facelifted car. The new Car is retailing at about 15.5 on road in bombay. This is for the top of line Style diesel DSG and i was getting the pre-facelifted version for 13.3 lacs on road.

You are entitled to your opinion. Others are willing to take the risk. All depends on the individual's risk appetite and risk tolerances.

Good for You, the decision is made.
It's always better to decide and be sure about it then keep wondering.

It would be Rapid for Me over Vento, Any day,

The facelifted Rapid definitely looks much sharper.
The New City is also rolled out, You can take a final call around your time of purchase,

Initially when I saw this post, I thought that break down could be due to dsg failures or any other critical part failure. But instead it is the suspension, battery and the music system.
Anyways it a good measure to make Skoda realise that Customer satisfaction is very important. They cannot encash their German reputation every time.
I have also had problem with my rapid's battery which got conked off well within 25 months. The OEM battery was SE Bang brand which I have never heard about. I also have issues with braking, there is weird shake of the steering and irritating noise during braking which the Skoda guys say that its rusting problem of the disks and they denied to replace it within warranty just because I have changed the OEM alloys with after market ones. All these things looks extremely weird. Skoda being a premium brand behaving this way is not acceptable.
Not that I am irritated, but surely my next car may not be a Skoda considering their resistance to change and improve.

Guys I'm being offered 13.5L on road for the 2016 old model top end diesel DSG Rapid, it does not come with Touch Screen navigation, is it worth the buy, was thinking of taking this over the Ameo?
