Should I be waiting till Diwali, or do you think that the prices cant get any better?

I'd say wait. Prices are bound to fall further. You are prepared to wait until Diwali so obviously your need is not urgent. Wait.

Just wanted to share by shopping experience wrt the Skoda Rapid. Few weeks back I requested a test drive through their website. I got a call immediately from their Mumbai office collecting details and promising their dealer will contact me for a test drive. The sole local dealer's executive contacted me a few days later. He did not know much English, I don't know much Hindi, so communication was a problem. He hung up on me. While that is rude, there are two things I noted here: 1) language is not such an issue because I have had three test drives with a similarly English challenged sales rep of local VW dealer, and 2) they don't seem to have any other sales rep available.

I got a follow up call from Mumbai. The person apologised and promised to arrange a test drive. This went on about once a week for the next three weeks: the local dealer sales representative would call and promise a test drive the next day but not turn up.

The test drive finally took place this week. They came to my office with low fuel, so test drive was very short. Moreover the engine check light and ABS light were on. They blamed it on some fuse problem.

As for me if they cannot handle sales and cannot maintain a test vehicle, I have no confidence they will be able to provide adequate after sales service.

I am mulling over replacing the aging HU in my 2012 model Rapid Ambition TDI.
A naive search turned up Pioneer's AVH-X2890BT. Has anyone installed this unit? How is the sound quality compared to the OEM one (the 2012 model had an RCD320 I think, no BT, no touchscreen).

I'd say sound quality depends more on the amps and speakers. Unless you change them, simply changing the HU will not make much of a difference.

Oh, I mean to keep the speakers as is. Actually happy with their performance. I just wanted a modern HU with a decent touchscreen and BT connectivity. As long as the HU is better than or equal to the OEM one, it is good enough.

I got 1.30 lac discount on Skoda Rapid 1.6 Style plus petrol MT. This included free zero dep insurance, 4 yrs warranty, 4yrs RSA, exchange bonus, mats, mud flaps and one 3M coating. Rest of the balance amount i had to bargain hard with the Sales person. I know new rapid is coming around, but discount was tempting. It went almost same as polo GT which was on my mind before Rapid. I think i made the right decision. :)

Vento is only offering interest scheme and 40K discount with no extended warranty or RSA.

Folks,
I need quick help in identifying the fuse location corresponding to cigarette lighter/charger socket. Main fuse box is near ABC pedals as per manual, but there are too many fuses and it is difficult to identify which is for socket.

I own a Skoda Rapid and since yesterday cigarette lighter/charger socket is not functioning. Can somebody point to the right fuse within the main fuse box?

Here is the Fuse box diagram as per the Skoda Rapid Owners Manual (not the one from Skoda India website),
Name: Skoda Rapid Fuse Box.PNG

And as per the table, it seems that its fuse number 47.

Hi Folks,

Posting this on behalf of my friend who's planning to buy a Rapid Diesel DSG shortly.
Does the black edition come with slightly different headlight setup when compared to regular editions?
Are they superior? Any insight would be useful in making the final decision.
Thanks in advance.

Experts may comment better however as per my knowledge, the black edition is only about cosmetic changes and the headlights are similar to the standard edition.

I've been told that my cars shock absorbers and mounts need to be changed. Could someone please suggest an independent service centre in Mumbai for the job. I'm hoping to get it done cheaper than Skoda ASS. Thanks.

I just got my Fabia's suspension struts replaced with new ones from Shri Ganesh in Charkop. The entire replacement with fitting cost me 15k. What's the cost skoda has quoted?
I did however choose oem struts, the ones fitted were Steinerhoffs from Germany.

Thanks for the reply. I've been quoted some 10-12k for just the front side.

Did Sri Ganesh have the OEM struts referred in your post? If not, where did you buy them from? Contact and address of the garage would be appreciated, if you have. Thanks again.

Hi there, he ordered the parts with my chassis no. From opera House, I got a similar quote from my references and car part guys..here's his no. 981-932-2655, call him to check, he'll need ur car chassis no. To check.

Sorry, his name is Manoj Shetty!

My Rapid with 98000kms on the odo has developed a weird problem.. The ignition key wouldn't turn after reaching ON position, It won't crank the engine. Started facing this problem over the past 3-4 days, every time I try to start the car. It randomly works after a few attempts, including locking and taking the key out trying again.
Anyone faced similar issues?
The worst part, my extended warranty expired on 18th.. :Frustrati
