Top up with distilled water (battery water) for the time being and check. If the level drops, it is a water pump failiure.

The coolant level usually never drops at all. So I am 95% sure it is the water pump. I suggest you dont wait. Just top up and take it to the service centre. Delaying might cause damage to the timing belt and lead to further expenditures.

+1 to Vishy76. Top it up with either distilled water or even bottled water and take it to the workshop. If the drop was sudden, then most probably this is a water pump failure.

Its a common fault with the 2.0 TDi engine. Water Pump failure is a case of "when" and not "if or perhaps"

Make that the TSI 1.8 too. Mine went at 46k and I came across another one at the workshop. Maybe less with the petrols but still a worry.

Hey Shashank,

I used to get irritated with this exact same behaviour on my 2014 TDI as well.

Later, I noticed that the flaps scraped only when I get to a complete crawl. If I go just higher over speed bumps, it does not scrape at all.

Mind you, I am not saying go fast - just a notch higher - maybe 3 or 4 or 5 kmph. It's a practice thing too... May want to give it a shot over a "known" speed bump.

As you had predicted, it was a water pump failure. Fortunately, the cost of the new one wasn't as expensive as I thought. About 3.5K. Apart from this, the car is in perfect condition.

Looking for some DIY guide for replacing the D3S HID bulbs for VW Jetta 2014 HL model. I searched the web but couldn't find one.

I'm not sure, how much room is there if you have to replace the bulbs without removing the headlight.

I've the same bulbs in my Endeavour but those don't have the screw type locking mechanism, as shown in the attached video.

Thanks for sharing the same. However when I inspect the HL and tried to remove the HID bulb, it was not budging and anti-clockwise turn. On close inspection noticed a metal clip, not I am not sure what/how to remove the HID bulb, and then re-install.

Any help from members would be greatly appreciated.

Hi fellow Jetta owners. I had one question pertaining to my car.

I am planning to get my Jetta TDI remapped. The concern comes here. My dad thinks that there will be trouble incase we sell it here in Gujarat itself and it needs to be registered again. He thinks it might fail tests. So have a few questions:

- How does the RTO check emissions while registering vehicles again?

- If I present a valid PUC certificate will the RTO accept it and pass my car?

I have contacted several Jetta owners and all of them have passed PUC tests. The only concern is that none have re- registered at RTOs.

Any advice in this regard would be appreciated.

When I bought my 2.5 year old pre-owned Jetta in Mumbai, I didn't have to take it to the RTO office for anything let alone checking emissions. The dealer took care of all the paperwork through his RTO agent. In fact the car was NOT registered again - only the ownership was transferred in my name. The RC still shows the registration date as the original date when it was bought by the first owner. Things might be different in Gujarat though.

Guys, any help or pointer to replace HID bulbs would be appreciated.

Dear fellow Jetta owners,

Recently got the 90K service done on my Jetta TDI 2.0 at 65KM on the Odo. No problems whatsoever when I gave for service. The service advisor tells me that there is a slight increased sound from the AC compressor and it needs to be replaced (to set me back by around 1L). I tell him that I have no problem and why I should spend that much when I dont see anything broke. He then tells me that its an electro-mechanical stuff and not sure when it will fail. He also tells me that if it fails, I will have to tow the car as the compressor is linked to the engine (or something like that) and if it fails, the car wont start. Is it true ?

Did anyone face this and any suggestions what do I do in this situation ?
1) Risk it and be prepared for towing
2) Find out the truth about the compressor and engine being linked. I DONT want to be stranded on a long drive. Broken AC ok(temporarily).
3) Replace the compressor at the service center
4) Second opinion outside with possible replacing there (any reliable AC repair guys in Hyderabad who does Jetta AC's)

Nonsense, unless the compressor seizes, then it can throw the belt, you will hear the belt shrieking first, then hit the a/c switch to disengage compressor

The compressor is engaged by an electromagnetic clutch. My Jetta had a weak A/c which I need to write about in my ownership thread. I was quoted by a non VW mechanic - around 50k.

Go to a good A/c specialist for a second opinion

Recently got the entire clutch replaced from PPS Motors in Bangalore. The entire clutch kit along with the flywheel and TOB was replaced at an approximate cost of about 85,000 INR. The dealer was pushing for a SACHS replacement since my Jetta came with SACHS components installed from factory. But since I was replacing the flywheel as well, decided to go with LUK instead. The price difference between LUK and SACHS is about 20,000 (LUK being the cheaper one) and since both companies are approved by VW, decided to save that extra 20k. The car had run close to 82,000 kms before it went in for the clutch replacement. I could have driven the car for another 10,000 kms but the TOB was chattering a lot during clutch depressing, hence decided to get the entire assembly changed before something went catastrophically wrong with it.
