Don't measure the FE by this method, it will give you very misleading figures. Rely only on Tank-full to Tank-full method & that too over 4-5 fillings. Only then you would be able to get the correct FE. 14.26 kmpl is indeed on a lower side for a 1000 cc Beat. Measure by the suggested method & I am sure you would get much better figures.

Yes I know its not a reliable way of measuring FE , but this is the first time i'm noticing such a dip in Kms ran for 500 rs of diesel in city run

just wanted to let you all know and get your feedback

I had mentioned in few posts above about FE of 21.92 kpl via tankful method for highway run

Yes that's it. This is the FE, which I had expected from the Beat TDCi. One suggestions, no matter what, always do a tank-full if you are very keen on tracking your FE, by this method you won't ever go wrong. In the 8 years of ownership of my car I had not even once filled the fuel for a specified amount, it has always been tank-full & I have maintained the FE for each filling.

Re: Chevrolet Beat TCDI Diesel : Test Drive & Review

Is there any extended warranty available on Beat diesel? I remember reading it in some review, but Chevy Pashankar auto (Pimpri) said there is no such thing from the company!

Re: Chevrolet Beat TCDI Diesel : Test Drive & Review

@ani_meher, please change your dealer. Chevy Beat has a warranty and why would a company discriminate in their own product range / brands, (it can be less than petrol, but cant be zero)

Looks like, the dealer may be trying to sell his petrol stock to you.

Please refer to this link and call another dealer/or the company rep.
Chevrolet Warranties: Extended Warranty and Assistance - Chevrolet India

Hope this helps.

Re: Chevrolet Beat TCDI Diesel : Test Drive & Review

Added another Beat diesel to Chevrolet's sales kitty
Got mine yesterday, and immediately got her upsized tyres and a set of 14inch alloys. She now joins the i20 and complements her (i20's) alloys too.
Initial reactions - the 936cc diesel engine deceives you with its responsive nature!

Congrats on your new car! Your Beat sure does look sweet (and better than the i20).

What tyres are those- 175's? How much did the alloys cost you?

Congrats BunnuPunia on your new possession. How much did you pay for your car.

I am on the verge of booking an Beat Diesel LT(O). The On-Road price quote is as follows
Ex-Showroom - 585492
Insurance - 19509
Reg, Life Tax + Basic Accessories - 67609
On Road Price - 672610
Dealer - KLN Ekkattuthangal

The freebies the dealer on offer are
a. Sun films (I opted out of this due to the ban and instead got item " f ")
b. Mudflaps
c. Car cover
d. Mats
e. Remote lock
f. Steel scuff plates for 4 doors

I am not sure if these are freebies as i am being charged for "Basic Accessories"

Chennai TBhpians -Please let me if the other dealers, Khivraj & Sundaram are better than KLN.

The test drive was good and i was surprised at the soft clutch and the pick up of the car. I was doing 70+ in a jiffy.

Hi MAS, I too have a quote for the same price from the same dealer and he has offered accessories worth Rs 6000 as freebies. It includes remote lock and mud flaps but not sure about other items in your list. I am negotiating with the other dealer Khivraj and their sales guy is supposed to meet me this weekend. Will update you the outcome

Thank you Vinu for your reply.

KLN offered the first 5 freebies without even asking for it. I did not want to haggle the distributor for more. I had a very pleasant experience with KLN and my daughter also got a "Mehindi" at the showroom

Do keep me posted about your developments with Khivraj. My experience with Khivraj was that the sales guys did not know much and did not offer anything as freebies.

I will try and get a quote from Sundaram Motors.

Re: Chevrolet Beat TCDI Diesel : Test Drive & Review

Got a quote from Sundaram Motors, Chennai. These guys are very good in sending quotes immediately.

Ex-Showroom - 585380
Insurance - 21094
Reg, Life Tax + Basic Accessories - 66540
On Road Price - 673014

No Freebies whatsoever because "Sir.. The car is selling sooo well"

A discount of Rs. 3500 on the insurance is being offered. I guess i need to start haggling the dealer to churn out more discounts.

So KLN is bit better in terms of pricing . Have you got any quote from Khivraj? I am still awaiting a quote from them

Hi,
Thanks!
Yes, I upgraded from 165/65 R14 to 175/65 R14. Retained the same manufacturer, Bridgestone. Paid Rs 700 per tyres (4, not 5).
The alloys cost me a sweet price from Sai Mag Wheels - 11k for 4. I had earlier bough the i20's alloys from him as well and thankfully, he did remember me.

Hi,
I paid 4.98 on-road (856 bucks reduced here), Delhi for the base variant. Freebies included keyless entry and left side ORVM.
I think my deal was pretty neat - being a journalist helps!
Had now invested 11k for alloys, 2800 for tyre upgrade and 20k for the ICE system.
Total cost: 5,31,800

Actually Sundaram is better. The insurance, when I checked online from Bajaj was 14K. But without any freebies, KLN is better.

I had been to Khivraj about 2 months back, but they did not offer anything + there was no faculty for exchanging an old car.

Beat diesel seems to be in ready stock with KLN, but Sundaram had only a Green LT(O) in stock. Which colour are you planning to pick?

@Bunnypunia -you got a sweet deal with the base variant. I had also asked KLN if I could get the LT(O) without the alloys, but they declined my request. The OE alloys look sick.:FrustratI

I got the following quote for Beat LTO from Khivraj

Ex showroom - 5,79,770
Insurance - 20,907
Reg. & Tax - 68,977
OTR - 6,69,654

However, there is a twist in my story. We did a TD of Figo diesel today and guess what, my wife is impressed with the following

1. Visibility
2. Hydraulic power Steering (she prefers it over EPS because its too sensitive
3. Space

So i am back to dilemma as she still feels that the gear transmission and "intelligent launch support system" in Beat is helpful for a novice driver

Will have to go over the options once again before taking a final call :(
