Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

It's so disappointing! I could see waiting period increasing for Verna. Aug sales to be watched far. Fiesta is definitely going to give boost to Verna, same as Jazz did to i20.
On the other hand, perhaps prices would have made sense if Ford would have plonked 120+ horses under the hood. All the time ford was marketing about FE.
OT, but Linea is looking to cheap now a days, 8 lacks OTR for diesel active. (though it lack quite a features)

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

The pricing is unjustifiable for an older gen 90bhp diesel. Voice control is only a fancy thing which is available even in a 10k cellphone and does not justify such a premium.I feel Ford have priced themselves out of the competition.

Now to hunt for some one who can give good after market solutions for Verna's boat like handling. Once fixed, it will seem like a far better deal.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

The pricing looks as if it was decided by their competitors . What this means is that in Petrol category, Honda city and Verna will clock more volumes and on the diesel, it will be Verna and Vento.

Just wait for 3-6 months and you will see Ford bringing the price down. Ford has done that and will continue to do it. Ford cannot recover the product development cost in reasonable time, if they stick to this pricing.

Thinking about it, Ford would have got atleast a few enthusiasts to buy it in this price, if they came with the originally planned 1.6 hearts.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

Extremely disappointed with the prices. What was Ford thinking, I mean just when they had launched Figo they did a huge PR exercise to justify that they were no longer the "costly" car company. Now they lost all the goodwill that they had recieved over years.

I am scared. This effect will trickle down even to Figo, and reduce Figo sales figures by 1k odd. Take my word if this is the care, Figo will see only 3k sales figures in 3 months from now. Make note of it.

I was scared Ford will do something like this when I had look at the Fiesta Classic. But in general "This is crazy".

Even sad story is Ford just killed Figo with pricing Fiesta high,

Damn! I am disappointed.

All the talk of undercutting the competition was crap.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

These prices will surely make competition smile. Ford India has lost an excellent opportunity to do a very competitive introductory pricing and could have later increased these once sales picked up.

Now they'll have to do the reverse.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

Points for consideration between the Crdi SX and the Titanium.

For NFF:
*NFF is expected to be more fuel effecient
*NFF rear seat is much better
*NFF expected to handle way better
*NFF is better built
*NFF maintainence might be cheaper(imho) then AHNV.
*ORVM are better.
*Lighted Window controls

for AHNV:
*The rear View camera is brilliant.
*16" alloys
*Leather seating
*Auto ECM
*Arm rest standard between front seats.
*The AHNV rear looks better and has dual reverse lamps

Now it's depends on each person's likes. 50k up or down should not matter to this segment.

The link to the brochures of both are here if you need to compare.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

pricing starts at 8,23,500 for Style to 9,42,200 (Petrol) and 9,27200 to 10,42,300 (Diesel)
...mixed feelings... a tad costly...!

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

This Fiesta has a competitor from Hyundai that is new Verna. If we compare this car with new Hyundai Verna, Fiesta is better in most of the trends. Ford's build quality is impeccable. Although the chassis of Hyundai is sturdy, the skin from outside is of thin gauge. Little hesitant to go for Hyundai cars.

New Fiesta might click if Ford's pricing is done properly.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

I think we were all expecting a little too much. The pricing is on par with the Verna, its chief competitor. I have been told that Ford is not going to maintain a waitlist like Hyundai have done for the Verna. That is good news. Deliveries should be in about 2 weeks from now.

The fuel efficiency of the Fiesta (diesel) is way better than the Verna. Take that, and you will see the running cost of the Fiesta is lower than the Verna. Verna's waitlist of 6 months is insane . Also, the price of the Fiesta will not reduce in 3-6months as they have no reason to. It might reduce in about a year's time. Fiesta offers cruise control (it is not cheap) which none of its competitors offer.

Overall, I believe that NFS offers a better all round package with the superior build quality, front & rear seat leg room (more than Verna), seating position and ride to name a few.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

I am not finding anything wrong with Ford's pricing. Here's why:
  1. It's always easier to bring the price down than hike it. It's a well-known fact of sales and marketing. So if Ford sees that market is not accepting these prices, they'll start offering discounts.
  2. They want to capture consumer surplus. They know which variants are going to sell the most (or they think they know) and they have priced those variants at sensible prices. That's where most of the money is (high volume but lower profit margins). Top-end variants are only for those people who think the prices are worth for what's on offer and can afford them. That's where the gravy is (low volume but higher profit margins). It's important to capture both the segments.
  3. And one last thing - Every product in a company's portfolio is not targeted at every potential customer. If you are finding a variant to be too expensive, then probably you are not the target customer. Harsh but true.

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

Man what was Ford thinking! I was expecting 10.5 lacs OTR Nagpur for Titanium (D), and this! Very very disappointing! Not justified at all.

+1. And that is why, the Linea 1.3 MJD Emotion / Emotion+ gets my vote here. Somehow in all the comparisons we include the SX4, Vento, City, Verna Fluidic & the Fiesta but invariably forget the Linea. Linea top end actually appears to be VFM. And lest we forget, it comes with Blue & Me.

In fact even the upcoming new Swift will have it (just take a glance at the New Swift's pics elsewhere in the forum).

The Fiesta's Pricing disappoints me!

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

Are the Mumbai prices for real? Ford has a loser on their hands. They tried to price the NFF too closely to Vento and Verna and in a way have given an advantages to them.

12L+ for a top end diesel variant. You could get a better car at that price. Ford what were you thinking. The price really stink.
