| Autospace | Malad Link Road, Mumbai | Complete Car Servicing Workshop Name : Autospace Contact Number : Pratik / 9167773343 | Mihir / 9821925347 Contact Person : Pratik (He looks after detailing/polishing/coating/aesthetics part of the cars) / Lalit Sir (He's a senior guy in terms of experience and looks after the technical part, rather hardware of a car) / Mihir (He is into technical part, under Lalit Sir, Didn't get to interact much with him but he's a chill & knowledgeable guy) Services Offered : Complete Car Servicing, Car Repairs, Polishing/Painting and aesthetic work, PPF/Ceramic Coating, Car Accessories. I've seen Chevy, Maruti, Hyundai (Mine lol and another Magna), BMW, Skoda, Merc in their workshop am sure they serve most of the brands from small to big. They also sell used cars at times & offer pre purchase inspection of used cars on request. Location : Malad Link Road, Exactly Next to Modi Hyundai (You absolutely cannot miss this landmark ![]() How I came to know about them : Accidentally, through a Mutual Friend while I was searching for a used car in 2023. The mutual friend advised to speak with Pratik with the requirements, altough I did not buy a car through them, I've taken their help in evaluating the used cars I found in the market for fitness, never disappointed. Services I've Used So Far : A. Used car inspection before buying : They have saved me twice from buying lemon cars, once it was a flooded car (dealer clueless) with loads of issues but Lalit Sir caught it quickly. B. GPS tracker Purchase (Installation by another Company) : Complete review here Please visit this thread (Trak N Tell Car Tracking Accessory | Review) C. Servicing : Full servicing, all oil change and stuff, detailed below D. Installation of Speakers, Lights : Have taken JBL Stage 1 & LED headlights (The existing ones gave zero confidence in night driving, for that reason alone I do not take out the car post sunset) E. Basic Checking Post Purchase : Once my i20 had crossed the 90 degree mark (Thanks to a hired driver who rode it on "L" gear), visited them to perform a basic checkup, cleaned the radiator/condensor, checked the basic car performance as well & advised to have the driver side wheel bearing replaced, I asked what is the effect of it, Cabin noise. Since it is something I can live with, did not bother changing it then as I was still trying to digest the financial expense I made towards purchasing the car. -------------------- They have a proper workshop, with ample space for 6 cars, maybe more. As I have not used the aesthetics (paint/coating/polishing/detailing) services I cannot comment on that, my review will be based completely on the services I've used & my experience with them. Sit back, grab a cup of coffee as this could be a long post. Car was left at their service center on 14th Feb afternoon (Wed) & picked up on 19th Feb noon (Mon). I specifically asked to take time required to do the full service & not to rush (either ways they wont rush) as I have no idea of the servicing history, what sort of oils went in the car, when was it done and stuff. The car was ready on Saturday (17th) itself but due to prior commitments I requested that I will pick up on Monday only. Here is my problems thread : Issues with my 11 Year old I20 (Issues with my 11-year old Hyundai i20 AT) Following components were serviced/changed -Car was scanned with a scanning tool, no errors were found (I was expecting it may throw up some errors, but hey its good to have no errors) -Central Mount (Seats used to vibrate on idle) -Engine Mount (Same reason as above) -Both Front tyre bearings (Cabin noise, Lalit Sir advised to change both as 1 is bad and another has wear so better to get both changed) -Gear Oil + Filter change (4 litres oil was used, Filter was on deathbed) -Radiator flush & coolant filling (After the 90 degree mark crossing, I was keen to have it flushed once) -Engine Flush & Oil Filling (Dealer had advised to change the oil after 1k Kms running, I had done about 550 odd kilometers) -Brake oil draining & re-filling (Had requested for this, as brakes didn't give confidence) -Brake servicing (Same reason as above) -Wheel Alignment & Balancing (Mandatory post mounting & other work) -Installation of 4 x JBL Stage 1 speakers (1 year warranty, Sound suits my taste) -Installation of 2 new low beam headlights (Envy Brand, Off White, the high beam feels useless now lol, 1 year warranty) -Throttle Body Cleaning (It wasn't that bad, but good to clean it) -Air filter change (I gave them the Original Mobis Air Filter I purchased from Boodmo to install) -Spark plug cleaning (Existing ones were cleaned up thoroughly & re-installed, no unnecessary sticking of hardware) -Checking of ignition coils -Both parking lights (Small ones, dashboard lights up if you turn them on) changed as it used to flicker -Dashboard light went off randomly while driving (Dangerous, as it took headlights with it), resolved, yet to check extensively as I do not drive in the evenings due to congestion & poor light throw -Co Passenger Side door & Door behind the driver used to make funny noises when opened, solved within minutes. I drove the car for about 20-25 kilometers or so post service, including afternoon & night time, and here is what I found, -The idle vibration has reduced a lot, I mean it a lot, satisfied. -When idle hard to tell if car is on or off, earlier I could easily tell it was on thanks to engine noise. -Speakers are excellent, I don't like listening at loud volumes, but the installed speakers are excellent for my taste, extremely satisfied here. -Acceleration has become very smooth, even a slight touch is sufficient to give the power required for my driving habit, satisfied here. -Brakes give confidence now, earlier I wasn't very confident, way beyond satisfied here. -The car feels very smooth to drive now, doesn't struggle much if accelerated & begs to be driven, earlier it used to feel the car is trying to say "Please Stop, I just can't, I'm running beyond my capacity" -Headlights give the confidence to drive at night (I am yet to fully test it, was mindblown comparing it with the stock lights which was nothing. The only reason I did not bother taking the car out post sunset is bad headlights, this has totally changed now. I have driven the car yesterday from 4pm all the way upto 10.30 pm on and off in the ownership period of about 5 months without having to worrying about throw and visibility, only because of change in headlights. Earlier all our trips had to come to an end by 5-6pm max, now you can imagine what this headlight has done to my driving skill) Minor Issues I found that need fixing -Headlight throw is kind of tilted, like 110-115 degree instead of 90 degree. Spoke to Pratik they are happy to check the alignment, will be visiting them in a day or two. -Headlight flickered twice during driving (The way we give blinker/dipper, it happened after I gave the dipper/blinker), I am not sure if it will repeat or what but it will be checked & fixed. These are small things compared to the performance I achieved post service, so no complaints here, these can be fixed up quickly. Total Bill : ~42k (Extremely fine with this, as I was expecting the bill to go north of 50-55k) Most importantly I don't have to mess around for any fluids for the next 10k kilometers, given my usage I am sure it will take long time to reach 10k mark lol. Who knows if I may end up selling the car before reaching 10k mark!? And for the period I own the car, I'm sure it'll tell me each and every day "Hey drive me" instead of what it used to say in the past "Band karo, haat jod ke main guzarish karta hu" haha My Advise if you visit them : Have full faith in them specially Lalit Sir, he has tremendous experience in the industry. I always had an amazing experience with each team member (Mihir/Pratik) as I informed them about what problems I found during my short usage period, let them diagnose the issues I mentioned, let them identify any other issues that I cannot identify, then I ask what component needs replacement, what the cost will be like, they give straight answers without pushing you. If you say leave it for now they won't bother you for that. I asked for shock absorber status, they said no need to bother fixing them now as they are fine, have known many vendors who are keen to replace every part once the car lands in their shop. I asked twice about shock absorbers (Asked Lalit Sir & Mihir as well) and got the same answer both times, don't get into it now these are doing fine and can easily last till next servicing, else any shabby mechanic would be keen to stick that part in the blink of an eye. Disclaimer : I have no affiliation/commission/tieup of any kind with them. This is not a sponsored post of any kind. I've paid for all the services, products, components & accessories out of my own pocket, each and every penny. I'm only writing this review since they have earned tremendous respect within a short span of time due to their transparent & helpful nature, Once I was about to plunge towards an automatic i20, however it turns out it was flooded, it had water and a kind of silicon mat over it, felt like it was a water balloon below our feet (The dealer boasted if I can prove it is flooded he'll give back 100% of the amount paid + additional 50k, all I could say was lol after showing him the water ballooned carpet in the car, he quickly wrapped up and left without uttering a word), it was identified within a few seconds of inspecting the car that apart from being flooded it was an accidental car as well (Bonnet replaced, windshield replaced, Fully repainted), let alone list of other issues, dropped it then and there. Another time they saved me from buying a Polo which had loads of work overdue, however dealer was keen to stick the car in as is condition without rectifying them, dropped it. I was at the workshop on 14th Feb from the afternoon all the way till evening to see the small things done (Throttle body cleaning, engine filter replacement, spark plug cleanup, ignition coil diagnosis, Scanning and stuff), taking test rides post that. I could not visit them after that due to other commitments, but the Trak-N-Tell device kept giving notifications that work is on. I prefer visiting them for any kind of work related to the car (Even if its about tightening a single screw or going for a full blown major service) as I can be assured they'll give a new life to the car & put their heart & soul into the work (Yeah the mechanic who checked my car before purchasing took me on a ride multiple times, took money but didn't replace parts & apparently it was busted at Autospace when Spark Plugs were opened, these guys didn't do that). I really feel like taking my car out more often now, even for random rides, which was not the case in the past, used every silly & random excuse available to avoid starting the car. Lalit Sir personally drove with me and gave tips on maximizing fuel economy, he drove the car while I was at the co-passenger side & he asked me to drive it the usual way I drive, it was really helpful & I've already implemented it. Funny incidents during the service : I used to get tracker alerts "Overspeeding 98 km/hr", "Overspeeding at 75 km/hr" lol, but I wasn't worried, instead I was happy to know the car was able to reach that speed, as during initial test it gave up around 70 or so, despite accelerator being pushed to the fullest. Apart from high speed alerts used to get many on/off alerts randomly, loads of them throughout the day. My fuel tank was around 90% when I dropped the vehicle, I was expecting it to drop significantly post service (Maybe 10% lol), however it was at 75-78%, they did not go roaming around with the car haha, no the employees didn't knew I had a tracker in the car, they have an empty road behind their workshop (Mindspace area) which is used for testing post completion of work, you can rev the car over there as that road is empty almost all of the time. Mihir asked while taking the first test drive to identify problems "Its Diesel right?" to which I replied "Nahi yaar, its petrol", he said "Feels like diesel given the vibrations" haha, post service the vibrations, noise is gone. | Re: Autospace | Malad Link Road, Mumbai | Complete Car Servicing Had to do another recent trip to Autospace for the following issues, -Jerks when idle/moving (Resolved by changing 1 ignition coil, apparently the mechanic I showed earlier, who also checked the car took me for a ride by saying he changed the ignition coil which he didn't) -Spark plugs changed as they were cleaned in the last visit and I wasn't sure when were they last changed, small expense so I asked to change rather than service them -Driver door took 3 unlocks to open, same with boot (Was serviced & not changed and works flawlessly now) -Co-passenger side speaker randomly went on/off, wires were corrected & works fine now -AC came back to full power due to change in ignition coil -Dash cam wiring done (Had purchased Nextdigitron prime+ dual from amazon) Dropped the car on 1st day & collected on the next, hoping to go on a ride in monsoon ![]() What I like is their approach is to first try and save/service the part and then go for replacement if its the only way out. Went for a test drive with Lalit Sir, he okayed the work and asked me to drive, I simply said "You've already okayed, I don't have to test drive" Also happened to see a VW Manual Polo at their workshop with RJ Number Plate, had a Team BHP Sticker I guess, was heavily modded, approx 3L+ in mods. When the ignition was switched on, the silencer sounded sweet, Pratik did mention it had 200 Bhp of power (Apologies I'm not very well versed with technical details) but it was stage 2? tuned and the modifications were neatly done. If you are the owner of that car & reading this, you've got a nice ride mate! |

| Re: Autospace | Malad Link Road, Mumbai | Complete Car Servicing So rats decided my i20's engine bay is a perfect party spot, so some wire was chewed & apparently car would not start. Called Pratik, sent a team member to check up the battery, wires & after 30 minutes of trying everything in continuous rains in an open road it was decided that the car has to be towed since the wire was chewed and the car would not start until that was fixed, okayed it and within 2 hours the towing guy came, since the car was in "P" mode and it wasn't possible to shift the gear, the workshop team member came in 15-20 minutes & did the needful to have the car towed at workshop. Happened to meet a fellow Team BHP Member who was at the workshop to have his headlights replaced for a Honda City last week or so (Same company as mine and replacement was fuss free), I am not sure of his username but he did multiple visits there. As for me, the rat menace was taken care of by rat repellant. Also got to drive Pratik's White Polo GT TSI 2015 for a short distance which he happily offered without any hiccups, that story is for some other day. Edit : Between the last post and this, did a trip to Igatpuri which was completely hassle free, touched 100 Kmph for a short patch while most of the trip was at 80-85, this was the first time I took out the car for a long ride which gave a lot of confidence, and the roads were smooth too. Thanks to bang on service by Auto Space. Edit 2 : few days back I experienced jerking again out of nowhere, I knew it was the ignition coil as the same jerks I had faced before and drop in performance, so spoke with Pratik & dropped the car at workshop on 19th Aug, funny thing is while I was taking the car at workshop I experienced jerks, even when on "N" gear at signal, however when I reached the workshop, we took the car for a test drive there was a slight jerk for a second after ignition however post that the car did not jerk at all, as if it was never there, we waited a bit for the engine to cool & tried again however nothing came up, so decided to leave the car there and come back next day that is today (20th Aug) since I knew the issue was there and needed fixing, few minutes ago got a call from Mihir and a photo of the cracked Ignition coil causing leak in current and the jerks as a result. 1 thing to note is I kept insisting that the Ignition coil is at fault, however the team member said they do not want the money to go waste, let them identify the issue and reach the root cause "Sir spark plugs and ignition coil badal denge, but aapke paise kharab nahi hone chaiye, and aisa mat sochiye ki hum diagnostics taal rahe hai but issue experience karna hai" (Sir we can change the spark plugs and ignition coil but your money shouldn't go waste, don't think we are trying to avoid diagnosing the car, we need some time to reach the root cause & experience the issue first hand to resolve the issue). This was Ignition coil number 4, previously Ignition coil number 2 was causing issues. Again, a reason why I do not have to worry about wrong diagnostics, I still get shivers down my spine when I recall the previous mechanic who used to take money and possibly wipe the parts to re-fit again. ![]() Last edited by montsa007 : 20th August 2024 at 11:56. |
