Expert Opinion Please>>>>>>>

I've got a Desert Storm on order and would like to change the exhaust when taking delivery of my Bull.

I'm not doing this for a better THUMP or performance, rather, I feel that the standard OEM exhaust is too long and too close to the ground for my style of riding.

I was decided on taking the standard up swept "Off Road" exhaust offered by RE. But then this thread happened.
Will the Off Road exhaust adversely effect the bike?

Re: GoldStar Silencer

Goldstar with Glasswool is the best option.

Have you considered the up-swept goldstar? I have seen that on a few C500 recently.

Up Swept Goldie

Yes, I've given a fair share of thought about an up swept Goldstar.

In particular, the Sans Inc Up swept Goldstar. But I'm curious about when I can start using it.

Is it wise to have an aftermarket Silencer installed at the time of delivery?

Or should I wait until the initial run in period is over using the stock silencer?

My main concern is to ensure that the Bull is run in properly.

Will changing the stock silencer affect the run-in any way?

You can fit any aftermarket exhaust anytime after delivery, there is technically no effect, i got the same confirmed from many experts including the RM of RE North, RE service engineers and RE mechanics too

You bull will always run smooth and yes, Sans Exhausts have a very good reputation and the guy is also friendly to give you all the information needed

Even i am buying a Desert storm and will get the exhaust from Sans only

@ruchirtnt
A free flow exhaust can have it's effects on the engine. Exhaust mods should be done after 2000-3000kms to be on the safer side.

Less air for engine to inhale but more easy to exhale creates temperature issues for the exhaust valve which can even lead to burnt or damaged Ex valve. Did you observed the raise in RPM when you shifted to upswept, ever wondered why it happened? It's due to reduction in back pressure and engine trying to suck in more air due to the pressure needed inside with a free flow.

I'll make it more easy for everyone in layman terms not that you need it but makes sense. Just do an easy test, inhale from one nostril from your nose but exhale from booth. So does it makes sense hey. Now feel the same for your bull and you can understand its plight.

Re: GoldStar Silencer

However, you can go for the upswept exhaust from RE which does not come with the free flow bend pipe anymore so it won't harm the engine during run-in.

@Mods-Please merge my back to back posts.

Re: GoldStar Silencer

Has anyone tried over a Monster exhaust on any of the enfields, i am looking for reviews, i want a good thump on my "just arriving" desert storm and want a old bullet thump which could be achieved by Megaphone, but it affects mileage, not good on highway and is free flow wherein monster is single baffle, no effect on mileage and good on highway too,
some experience please

meanwhile please go through the below URL

@aadithsince1980 has given a very good illustration that goldstar is more close to RE thump than the Monster

Re: GoldStar Silencer

I have came across one beautiful exhaust for RE and that is Tail gun exhaust, it is a very unique looking exhaust and I have requested Sans Inc to introduce this model

Re: GoldStar Silencer

Hi Guys ,

I havent been through the entire thread, Just saw the first and last pages here, so if i repeat anything sorry for that.

But my two cents here about changing your exhaust to any aftermarket one is a Strict NO. Believe me i have been through this journey, i have a thunderbird 04 model and it had a goldie silencer the first year was good on the performance end and also the THUMP but gradually it worsened to a stage where there was so much of loss of power to the engine i had created a thread here for that same purpose you can check it out at

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorb...r-blunder.html

Please stick to an Original Enfield silencer because that silencer has been tested for usage in extreme conditions on your bike and you have a warranty for it, dont go for the Jugaad maal like goldie,or pooja or lakhmi. Trust me on this.
