Used Apache 160 or 180?

Having read the ownership reviews, and other reviews of TVS apache, I was planning to buy a Second hand Apache (carb, not FI). I understand that it has some vibration, gear box issues and rubber issues, but still i have observed that it is fun to drive. My daily commute (mainmly college) will be around 20-25 Kms in city traffic and would expect 40-45 kmpl FE. Budget constraint being max. Rs 40,000. what year model should i look out for, I read somewhere in this forum itself that vibration issues were rectified to a great extent after some particular year? Also should i go for 160 or 180?

160 or 180, my strong opinion will always be sided towards Fi. Reason being, one less headache to tune the carb!!!

Second, you may want to consider buying a new one for your budget rather than settling for an old model. One of the stables from BAL will fit into your budget.

PS - Do you get an used RTR 180 for 40K? Wouldn't that be a highly abused one?

The reason I opted for a carb one was that i read in this forum itself about some FI issues as well. Carb one can be easily tackled compared to Fi; even authorised w/s mecjanics have a hard time tackling it. Finding a used 180 is infact difficult, so would settle for a decent 160.

Go for a relatively less run and a well run-in RTR160 and you will not regret it. And yes Carb is better since it can be handled by your neighborhood mechanic with ease.

I got myself a very good 2008 example here in Bangalore and have been happy ever since. It has held up very well and taken hard riding in its stride. Even the plastics are very robust and have held up well for nearly 3 years of use.
