I am not a B-I-G fan of TVS, but I dont know what you mean by that statement. What is it meant to imply?

look at the link posted by me. look at the features and price. Its already a winner.

and TVS engines are pretty refined so with 13bhp I guess it will be faster than the competition.

hold on dude..
well.. TVS is the only company which actually makes quality bikes on its own without any help (unlike HH).
Bajaj has always had gearbox issues.
LML cant sell even a 1000 beamers a month.
u need to get ur facts right abt TVS.
they have the best R&D dept. & the only indian bike manufacturer to win the coveted Demming award.

my friend, lemme tell you that LML also makes good bikes. though adreno didnt sell well mine was actually more comfortable than the any commuter bikes out there.

what is needs is a big name. Otherwise beemer is a pretty good bike too.

Certainly TVS is better quality but comfort and handling matches.

SIGH!

Dear Perestroika

Read before you shoot (your mouth off)...if you've been on the forum for a while, OR if you've read this thread entirely (especially Post #22), you will realize that Mr. Kamath used to work for TVS.

Dude...Having a 1000 odd posts doent make u an expert ... now does it?
I personally feel TVS is a damn good company and i stand by my statements firmly.
and no...i'm not working in TVS or for that matter in any company...i'm just in my 3rd year of engg.

@devarshi84: yes my friend....u r absolutely right.... infact beamer has the best power to weight ratio in the 150cc segement.... so no doubts about its performance.
But still my point is that LML bikes have never really caught anybody's attention so that means something's wrong somewhere...

Man every once in a while a gem like you comes along and gives us something to laugh about.

I dont have 1000 odd posts nor do I claim to be an expert. Get your eyes checked at the friendly neighborhood eye specialist and come back and read all of my 360 odd posts. Then show me ONE post in which I claim to be an expert. After that, its time for you to get your attitude adjusted at your friendly neighborhood shrink.

I know about the Deming award too. And I know why they won it, unlike you. And I know that TVS's marketing has been successful in convincing you that they have a damn good R&D dept. You know they are good. Fine. But how do you know they are the best? Have you compared the way of management, facilities and human resources at TVS R&D with that of its competitors? Or for that matter, have you even seen the inside of an automobile manufacturing unit? Do you even have a clue as to how things work there? You don't. Period.

So stop mouthing off about people and things you dont know sh*t about. You have a viewpoint. You are free to express it. But dont go about judging people on the basis of a few posts they made in some forum. You dont know me, so dont talk about me.

Devarshi I misread your post and thought you somehow felt TVS are not trustworthy as regards their BHP claims....thats why I asked what you meant...sorry for the error on my part.

So as an ex-employee.... what is ur opinion about tvs?? I have owned fiero from 2001. Done 35k kms so far. From the owner ship experiance, got to say that i am not pleased at all. I have spent more on the bike than on my car for regular servicing. Though the engine is damn good, cant say the same about the rest of the bike. I have lot of niggling problems with the bike. Esp with the electricle parts and this right from the first month. Either tvs's products are not good or their service centers are jsut not capable of fixing problem...

coming back to the bike, i feel that the apache might be a case of "too-little-too-late". tvs should have launched the bike at least a year and a half ago; but, looking at the specs (especially that 18-inch:17-inch rear-front wheel spec), i'm guessing the steering must be pretty flickable, and must have some pretty agressive rake and trail. moral: the bike should be fun to throw around....
what do you think, ananth..?

p.s- is it just me, do the front tyres actually seem fatter than the usual 2.75 inchers..???

People who do motorcycle stunts also sit like that. I guess the chairman is suggesting that you can do some cool stunts with this new bike.

oops!! i'm really sorry but i didnt mean to pick a fight here...
We all are here to learn frm each other & build a healthy relationship and i think i have a lot to learn specially frm guys like anandkamath.
i'm just an amateur here as compared 2 u guys and so i apologise for anything which might have offended anybody...

PEACE
sorry:

Hey Ananth, whats the story behind the smaller front wheel. why not 17 in the back too. Some trick they learnt in racing? Do you have any inside scoops.

If I am not mistaken , the Fiero is a Suzuki design, and therefore the Apache too. Its the Victor and the Centra that are totally indegenous products.

Went to Ramkay TVS @ Chennai yesterday. They had a Apache at display. We asked them if they offered a test drive? here's the info i got there,
They don't offer test drive now but bookings are open.
You can pay Rs.5000 and book the bike.Test drive will be in mid jan.
If you are not satisfied money will be returned.
Delivery will be in feb.
On-Road Price in Chennai-Rs.57,450
They have 70 bookings already it seems.(People are so crazy with the novelty factor I guess!)

Looks are subjective, so for me the bike looks very handsome(Don't mind if it reminds you of discover and pulsar).Took some pics from my mobile, will post the same soon.

I have no clue. But I am guessing the styling guys had as much say in this as the chassis group.

Veyron1 I agree....most TVS bikes have a very steep (for commuter bikes) head angle....of the order of 24 to 25 degrees.

gkrishn, sorry to hear about your poor ownership experience. As for your question regarding my opinion of TVS, I would say, from my limited point of view, that there are many things right about the way it is managed, but as always there has to be a fly (or flies) in the ointment. I refuse to say more than this.

MPower, your right about the Victor and Centra. The first Fiero was totally Suzuki but as far as I know (wasnt in R&D so shut out from many "secrets") the F2 was heavily modified, right from the engine, to chassis. Most mods were aimed at cutting manufacturing costs while keeping the same or better product attributes. Apache is further modified so it cannot be called a Suzuki design. Of course all of us know there is some amount of "japanese" design influences in every product that comes out (TVS or otherwise).
