Why did you not just stick to the Honda Colour scheme.

Can somebody list out 100 reasons why a bike is better than a wife. Restore it man. You won't have to spend much. The condition still looks OK.

@ Maximum Torque - The Gen 1 CBZ is a beautiful machine. Except for one thing. I think who ever designed that should be hit on his head with a kick lever. I am sure you get what I am talking. The stupid and annoying kick lever operation. |
Yes. exactly. The stupid kick lever design.
The thing is I have no problems with it at all because I'm am totally used to it. But everytime any of my friends borrow my bike, they come back with a broken right side foot-rest. No one other than CBZ riders are ever aware that the damn thing has to be folded up first and then restored back after kick starting the bike. Excited about getting their hands on a CBZ, they heave up all the streghth in their legs to kick start the bike and there goes my foot-rest.
the problem is not the with the kicker, its with the footrest. the kicker was a revolutionary design at that time since the CBZ had that front-forward engine design forcing the rider to sit in a racing posture, thereby avoiding complete weight on resting on the spinal cord (helped a lot on my 18hr road trip to HYD).
the problem was the footrest, which after a few foldings, wore out and kept slipping. the first Pulsar tried to copy this design even though it was only a cosmetic thingy.
oh, how Bajaj tried to copy the CBZ! :uncontrol
Once you get used to the kicking then u do it without thinking. ON the upward sweep of the foot the foot rest gets folded. after kicking automatically right foot knows where the folded rest is.
In ten years of usage, my CBZ has never given me starting problems. No matter how bad the overall condition of the bike is, it has always started in just one kick.
Well i suggest, find a good mech and keep the bike. Old CBZ was really amazing machine.
Where can I buy genuine CBZ parts at cheapest rates in Mumbai?

I own a 98 model Yamaha RXZ. |
The old Yamaha models like RXZ, Rx 135 and RX 100 hold up much better than most of the new generation bikes (2000 onwards). I know people who have 20 years old RX100's which are still going strong and which require the least amount of maintenance.
I have a CBZ too...I got it with my first salary. My dream bike. I used to dream of owning it since I was a kid. Its 7 now. I wanted to sell it, but people offer peanuts. I thought it would be hard to maintain two 2wheelers. So was planning to sell it get a scooty for my wife. My heart says not to part with it, I still love it more than my car. Am in a fix, unable to decide.
sold my 1999 model a few months ago
could barely ride once a month
so was best to bid adieu
Quick question to all the existing owners of CBZ. Hope your bike would now have completed 15 years. Can anybody share their experience in getting the RC extended? How did the Fitness certification go? My CBZ was registered in May 2001 and so need to get the RC extended.
I have a Sept 2000 model CBZ had run about 90,000 km in 2005 when I stopped riding bikes totally. After that the CBZ was the favourite bike for all my staff, and they travelled considerably including trips to places like Jejuri, Shirval, Ranjangaon etc all about 60-70 km from Pune. Engine was overhauled twice in 2007 and 2013.
Right in the beginning I had removed the mini faring and fitted a single round 6" headlamp capable of taking 60/55 H4 bulbs.
Sometime last August when I was thinking of renewing the registration, the cam shaft ceased due to oil pipe getting blocked, since then the bike is standing in my parking lot.
I'm not sure weather I should spend another 10-15 K for an overhaul, and another 5K for RTO paperwork, or just scrap the bike.
Rahul
