How much does it cost? Will the wires stretch enough?

Randhawa, very detail report!

i am planning to add 1 more bike to my garage soon, c500 is a strong contender since already 2 bulls in the stable have a bit of softcorner for c500

but but being used to bulls and the quailty of service/parts and after reading your report am bit apprehensive...

What you suggest:)

Arre only some Rs.300 for the original RE LB500 handle.

The wires will fit perfectly. No issues at all.

@Rao- Parts are a nightmare and quality issue is present. If anyone ever needs new part there is no guarantee the new part would have actually gone through quality check which seems to be non existent for now resulting in further harassment.

If you get a lemon then be prepared to loose your sleep if you are a bit like me. If you have a technical mind and knowledgable then again prepare yourself for dimwit replies(replies like it's in your head and there are no issues or perhaps engines emit black smoke on cold startup) to your problems and things would need to be escalated to higher ups every time you need to get things done.

But if you have friends in RE or you have a good relationship with you dealer then ownership experience would not be that bad.

Main problem lies with the decades old management who is not adapting to new generation customer service needs and support. Quite lethargic and misinformed bunch of employees are giving the company a bad name. They are still living in bygone era and not prepared to move on.

UCE engine is way more advanced then it's predecessor and very well built, only quality issue is the main problem along with not so experienced technical staff(Er) and not the design itself.

To give you an e.g. I taught the workshop mechanics how to use compression meter and torque wrench along with showed RE Engineer how to check run out of various things. Most of the workshops across India does not know difference between fork oil and normal oil or even how to replace fork oil on UCE. That's coming from a customer who knew nothing about two wheelers nor had a technical background.

To list few confirmed reports of serious quality(assembly)issues;

1. The most common one is valve seal missing from factory. Our very own C5 comrade on this thread had this issue and still fighting to get things sorted after 4 months.

2. Intake valve fitted into exhaust port and ex valve fitted into intake port.

3. Oil rings missing on a C5 piston from factory.

I can carry on with the list but who cares hey!

On a serious note I think the chaps on assembly line needs some serious training or they are more frustrated then customers and attacking the RE within.

Whenever you get a bike, make sure it was not assembled on any friday of any week. You can check the exact date of Mfg on the filter box on the pollution control green sticker.;)

So in a nutshell if your bike runs fine and stays that way then you will love it to bits and admire it's beauty and power for eternity.

I just booked a CL500 today. To my amusement, i found out that the new CL500 comes with a 19" front tyre like the CL350s. I have asked the dealer to make it an 18" and he has promised me to do that coz he has got a complete 18" front tyre set. But, was the mudguard too a different one on the earlier 18" front version? Was it smaller? I have always liked the 18" Front-18" Rear combination. But, what are the odds? Why RE switched to 19" front again? Cost cutting?

Stick with 19! why bother downgrading to whatever level 19 has helped in instability issue.

You will have to change the mudguard stays & mudguard as the 18 mudguard is shorter by 2 1/2 inch. Rs 1800 extra just for that.

Rumours for 19 front is to counter instability issue on C5 and MRF not interested in making 18 front for RE due to low volume demand only for C5. So now C3 & C5 comes with same tread 19 MRF front tyre.

But somehow, i like the 18" inchers. I've always waited for a RE in 18" tyres.

You are sure about the difference in the front mudguards na? Coz i'll have to ask the dealer to change those too for me.

Did RE really sorted out this instability issue with the 19" upgrade?

What i saw was a 90-90-19 Zapper i believe. It was surely not a regular 3.25-19 ribbed one. Somehow, i didnt like them. Felt too narrow.

I love the 18 on mine. Yup sure about the difference, measured it myself. For some weird reason the 19 look skinny compared to 18 and I did not like the feel of 19 on C5, felt to light.

No confirmed report or review as yet but a member on here who has the new C5 says he has instability problem.

I might be able to pick up a green C5 next week itself [coz of a cancellation]. But seeing the "Desert" colour variant, i think i should wait for its release. Any idea on its release date? Here, the usual booking period for a C5 is 5 months.

New versions are expected in April then I got news of RE re-mapping the ECU but again got a update on it that it was an unsuccessful attempt. So not sure now but I'll try to get some more info on the launch date.

Thanks for the info. Please try to get more info on the launch date of the desert version if you can. That would definitely help me. I'll just ask my dealer too. I think i should better wait for the Desert C5.

RE India website is down today. To add something new to the stable?;)

Thank you, a very detailed feedback again!

i can relate to some of the experience, way back in 2003 my it took me about 5+months to get settled with my new machismo(350), the bike used to smoke like truck and i had to speak to the higher ups in RE and none had clue until a new RE outlet mech figured it out a fix...

Sad that RE has got worse with better tech, riding RE's for so many years i have got used to it, but i know that thier is hardly any mechs whom i can trust...

Had a chat with the dealership guy today. They have no news about the "Desert" variant as of now. The canceled bike has been allotted to me though. Confused whether to pick the Green C5 or not:confused:

Hi Arun, we have people grunting and groanig for 6 months and more to get their hands on their C5 ! Go for it man.
